Question:
DIRECTIONS: Given question consists of a question and two statements numbered I and II given below it. You have to decide whether the data provided in the statements are sufficient to answer the question.

How many sons does 'X' have?

I.D is brother of A who is son of X.

II. D's sister is M's wife.

Options:
A) The data in Statement I alone are sufficient to answer the question, while the data in Statement II alone are not sufficient to answer the question.
B) The data in Statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question, while the data in Statement I alone are not sufficient to answer the question.
C) The data in Statement I alone or in Statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question.
D) The data in both the Statements I and  II are not sufficient to answer the question.
E) The data in both the Statements I and II together are necessary to answer the question.
Solution:

From statement I,

D is brother of A who is son of X. That means X has two sons.

From statement II,

D's sister is M's wife. From this we can not find how many sons does X have.

Hence, the data in Statement I alone are sufficient to answer the question, while the data in Statement II alone are not sufficient to answer the question.

Dear student
Given answer is correct as:
From the statement- D is brother of A who is son of X.
D and A are son of X, which means X has two sons.
So only statement 1 is sufficient to answer the question.
