sir but both the pipes were opened from the beginning.so first 24 ltrs must be filled by both the taps

Question:
A tank can be filled by two pipes in 20 minutes and 30 minutes respectively. When the tank was empty, the two pipes were opened. After some time, the first pipe was closed and the tank was filled in 18 minutes. After how much time from the start, was the first pipe closed?
Options:
A) 5 minutes
B) 8 minutes 
C) 10 minutes
D) 12 minutes 
E) None of these
Solution:


By B it is filled for 18 min. = 36 liter (as 2 liter filled in 1 min)

Remaining 60 – 36 = 24 lite is filled by A

In 8 min (as 24/3 = 8)
