Is there a difference between these two questions.
We know, 120 = (2^3) x (3^1) x (5^1)
So, from formula, Number of prime factors = p + q + r
= 3 + 1 + 1
=5

But, understandly, factors which are prime are only three, i.e. 2, 3 & 5

Can someone please explain the difference?

Question:

How many factors of 120 are "prime number" (a number which has only two factors)?

Options:
A)

 5

B)

 3

C)

 2

D)

 None

Solution:

Factors of 120 = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 15, 20, 24, 30, 40, 60, 120

Prime factors of a number P are always smaller than  P

So  120=10.

Smaller than  102,3,5

There are three prime factors.
