Let Initial Price of sugar was X.
After Discount of 5%, the price of the sugar become,
= X - 5% of X .
= X - (5X/100).
= (100X - 5X)/100.
= 95X/100.
Amount of sugar now, buyer gets in Rs.608,
= 608/(95X/100).
= (608 *100)/95.
Amount of sugar he gets before the discount,
= 608/X.
Now, According to question,
608/(95X/100) - 608/X = 2.
On Solving,
X = Rs. 16.
After discount price become = 16 - 5% of 16.
= Rs. 15.20. this one right ans

Question:

A buyer can get 2 kg more sugar in Rs.608 after getting discount of 5% on sugar. The  Initial selling price of sugar is:

Options:
A) Rs.15.50
B) Rs.15
C) Rs.16.50
D) Rs.16
Solution:
Ans: (d)

Actual Price of sugar \(\times\cfrac{95}{100}=608\)

\(\therefore\) Actual Price of sugar  = \(608\times\cfrac{100}{95}=608\times\cfrac{20}{19}=32\times20=\unicode{x20B9} 640\)

\(\therefore\) Price of 2 kg sugar = (640608)=\(\unicode{x20B9} \)32

 \(\therefore\) Price of 1 kg sugar = \(\cfrac{32}{2}\) = \(\unicode{x20B9} \)16
