wrong solution (Question: 99219.1 )

it is given in the question that the number of students in only 2 schools are same but in given solution number of students in 2 pairs of schools are same.i think the distribution should be 3,2,2&1 in different schools then only the given condition will be satisfied.

Question:

DIRECTIONS: These questions are based on the following information.


Each of the eight children P, Q, R, S, T, U, V and W, who live in a colony, study in one of the four schools — IPS, DPS, Carmel, St.Joseph. They belong to one of the different families — Bajaj, Sindhiya, Singhaniya, and Rajan. No two children belonging to the same family — study in the same school. Among them the number of children in only two schools is the same.The number of children from each family is equal to the number of children from at least one of the other families. We know the following additional information:


(i) U and T studying in the same school but neither of them is from Singhaniya’s family.

(ii) P is the only child in his/her family and is the only child among the eight children studying in DPS

school.

(iii) V is from Singhaniya’s family and is studying in the same school as R and W.

(iv) Q is from Sindhiya’s family and T is from Rajan’s  family.

(v) S is the sister of W and S is studying in school Carmel.

(vi) In school IPS only two children are studying and P is not studying in school St. Joseph.

Ans (c)

from (ii), (iii) and (iv), P must be from Bajaj.

from (v) and (vi), P must be studying in school DPS.

from (iii), (v) and (vi)m R. V and W are studying in school St. Joseph.

from (i), (iv) and (v), U and T are studying in school IPS and Q  and S are studying in school Carmel.

from (iv), S in not from Sindhiya family.

from (iii) and (v), S is not from Singhaniya.


∴ S and W are from Rajan family.

∴R and Q are from Sindhiya.
