On August 21, 2026, the Supreme Court of India passed an important judgement on the 3-year practice rule. Here are the most important details you need to know about it:  

• The mandatory judiciary practice experience for judiciary exam eligibility is reduced from 3 years to 1 year.  
• Candidates who get selected need to undergo a mandatory 1 year of Judicial Academy training followed by 1 year of structured clerkship.  
• Fresh law graduates will be considered eligible during the transition period till March 31, 2027, without any prior practice requirement.  
• The new eligibility rule will be completely effective from April 01, 2027.
