JEE Mains B. Arch is the Entrance Exam for the candidates who want to join the Engineering in Architecture Career further. Changes in JEE Main 2020 Paper 2

 Here is the list of the new changes made by the NIT (National Testing Agency) for the Paper 2 JEE Main Exam-

  1. The Offline Payment for the exam has been removed. For the Application Fee, a candidate can ay through any of the Online Mode only.
  2. The JEE Main Application Fee has been increased for each category.
  3. The number of Exam Centers for JEE Main in India have been decreased from 264 to 233.
  4. The total number of questions asked for each section in the exam has been changed. But the JEE Main Paper 2 (B. Arch) and Paper 3 (B. Plan) will carry for 400 marks as same as before.

The JEE Main Exam Center for Paper 2 is also located in the Abroad for those who applied for the exam from out of the country. JEE Main Paper 2 Admit Card 2020

National Testing Agency has released the JEE Main Paper 2 Admit Card on 6th December 2019. Candidates can download the JEE Main Hall Ticket till the last day of the exam. The JEE Main Paper 2 Phase 1 will be conducted from 6th to 11th January 2020.

It is mandatory to take the Call Letter to the exam center, otherwise, aspirants are not allowed to give the exam. Along with the Admit Card, candidates have to take valid identity proof like- PAN Card, Aadhar Card, Voter Id, etc.

JEE Main Paper 2 Exam Pattern

The exam will be in both Offline (Drawing Test) and Online (Mathematics and Aptitude). The time duration of the exam will be 3 Hours (180 Minutes).

The result for JEE Main for Paper 2 will be released online on the official website by NTA. The JEE Main Paper 2 Result will release in the form of PDF, which is compiled based on the final JEE Main Paper 2 Answer Key released by the officials.

Method of Determining Merit

  • Conversion of the raw score in Mathematics, Aptitude Test, Drawing Test and Total into NTA Scores.
  • Overall merit shall be prepared by merging NTA Scores of all shifts of all days.

Methods of Resolving the Ties

Tie between candidates obtaining equal Total NTA scores in B.Arch will be resolved in following descending order: 

  • NTA score in Mathematics
  • NTA score in Aptitude Test
  • NTA score in Drawing Test
  • Candidates having a lesser number of negative responses in the paper
  • Candidates older age

JEE Main Paper 2 Exam Day Instruction 2020

  • Candidates are not allowed to carry- Camera, Calculators, Mobile, Purse, Jewellery, Watch, etc to the exam center.
  • Any of the eatable items or juices are banned while going inside the exam hall.
  • Aspirants are allowed to take the blue/ black ballpoint to fill the circles in the answer sheet and geometry box for the Drawing section of the exam.
  • List of the documents (original and 2-3 xerox) required while going for the exam-

    • Passport Size Photo
    • Valid Identity Proof (PAN Card, Aadhar Card, Voter Id, etc)

JEE Main 2020 Paper 2 Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility of the aspirants will be defined in 2 categories- Age Limit & Reservation and Qualifying Exam. Go through the following detail to know about the JEE Main Eligibility Criteria for Paper 2.

Age Limit & Reservation

  • For appearing in the JEE (Main) examination there is no age limit for the candidates.
  • The candidates who have passed class 12th or Equivalent Exam in 2018, 2019 or appearing in 2020 irrespective of their age can appear in JEE (Main) exam 2020.
  • The candidates should also satisfy themselves about their fulfilling the age limit requirements of the Institutes in which they are desirous of taking admission.
  • The restriction in the age limit of the IIT's candidate will be published in JEE(Advanced)-2020 Information Brochure.
  • For admission to a participating institute, please see the reservations applicable to that particular institute.
  • Reservation for the institutes run by Central Government:
    • 10% of the seats are reserved for the General Category-Economically Weaker Section(GEN-EWS),
    • 15% of the seats are reserved for the category Scheduled Caste (SC),
    • 7.5% for the category Scheduled Tribe (ST)
    • 27% for the category Other Backward Classes belonging to the “Non-Creamy layer” (OBC-NCL).
    • Each category will have 5% reservations for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) as defined in the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (RPwD Act 2016).

List of Qualifying Exam

  • The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized Central Board or State Board, such as-
    • Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi;
    • Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi; etc.
  • Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a recognized Board or University.
  • Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
  • Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defense Academy.
  • Any Public School/ Board/ University exam in India or in any foreign country recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
  • Higher Secondary Certificate Vocational Examination.
  • Qualifying Exam Only for Admission to IITs-
    • A Diploma recognized by AICTE or a State board of technical education of at least a 3-year duration.
    • General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
    • High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.

Year of Appearance in Qualifying Exam

Only those candidates who have passed their Class 12th Exam or any equivalent qualifying exam in 2018 or 2019 or those who are appearing in their Class 12th Exam or any equivalent qualifying exam in 2020 are eligible to appear in January JEE Main 2020 Exam.

Candidates who passed Class 12th/Qualifying exam in 2017 or before as well as those who will appear in such an exam in 2021 or later are not eligible to appear in JEE Main 2020.


What is the Cut Off for JEE Main Paper 2?

JEE Main Paper 2 cut off 2020 will differ for various institutes and programs. Once the exam will get completed the JEE Main paper 2 cut-off will be released by the counseling authority for B.Arch and B.Planning. The cutoff for the exam will be based on a few aspects-

  • Number of seats in offer
  • The difficulty level of the exam

Is there negative marking for JEE paper 2?

There is the negative marking in the JEE Main Paper 2 Exam, candidates have to give the penalty of 0.25 (1/4) marks for each wrong answer marked. Also, students will score 1 mark for each correct answer. The deduction of the marks will be done from the overall score of- Aptitude, Mathematics, and Drawing.
