There are several deciding factors of JEE Main Paper 2 cutoff which are as follows:
JEE Main Paper 2 score is calculated based on the marks obtained by the candidates in the entrance examination. The percentage is a candidate marks scored, wherein percentile is the position or rank compared to other rank holders.
This can help a candidate to predict the rank and find out the college they can study based on the secured marks. The percentile score is always measured on a scale of 100 to 0 for each session of examinees.

Step 1: Distribute the Examinees in two days and in two shifts per day.
Candidates would be distributed in 4 sessions so that each session has an approximately equal number of candidates.
Step 2: Preparation of Results for each Session
The examination results for each session would be prepared in the form of Raw Scores and Percentiles Scores separately for each subject that is Aptitude, Maths, and Drawing in JEE Main paper 2 and the Total.
The following 4 % must be calculated for each candidate in the Session:
Let T1, M1, A1, D1 be the raw scores in Total, Mathematics, Aptitude, Drawing of a candidate and
T1P, M1P, A1P, D1P be the percentile scores of Total, Mathematics, Aptitude, Drawing of the candidate.
Step-3: Compilation of NTA score and Preparation of Overall Merit/ Rank List :
The Percentile scores for the Total Raw Score for all the four sessions (Session-1: Day-1 Shift-1, Session2: Day-1 Shift-2, Session-3: Day-2 Shift-1 and Session-4: Day-2 Shift-2) as calculated in Step-2 above will be merged and is called the NTA scores which are used for the preparation of overall Merit List/ Ranking.
