NID Admission Process

NID 2025 admissions involve a two-stage process: Prelims and Mains. Passing both stages qualifies you for counselling and a chance to secure your desired program.

The NID DAT Prelims paper is a paper-and-pencil/pen test conducted on the same day across all test centres. The questions asked may involve text and visuals.

Based on the scores obtained in the DAT Prelims, eligible candidates will be shortlisted for the DAT Mains as per merit.

Candidates who pass this admission round qualify to appear for the NID DAT Main, where they must participate in the Studio Test and Personal Interview round.

NID Eligibility Criteria 2025 for B.Des Aspirants

To be a part of any renowned National Institute of Design, a student must meet all the qualification criteria for the NID entrance exam. 

Age

• For Indian Nationals in the Gen category and GEN EWS, only candidates born on or after 1 July 2003 can apply for admission.
• For Indian Nationals in the reserved category, only candidates born on or after 1 July 2000 can apply for admission.
• For Indian Nationals in the PwD reserved category, only candidates born on or after 1 July 1998 are eligible. 
• For foreign nationals overseas: Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 2003 are eligible. 

Educational Qualification

• Candidates who completed their 10 + 2 (Higher Secondary) from AISSCE / IB / ICSE or any recognized board during the academic year 2023 will be eligible to apply for NID.
• The candidates appearing for their 10 + 2 (higher secondary) can also apply for this examination.
