CUET Eligibility Criteria 2023

The CUET examination has become integral to every student's educational journey. The NTA has released CUET 2023 exam dates on December 15 for aspirants wanting to take the exam next year. It brings us to the question - Can any student take the CUET examination? 

The answer is No! There are two divisions into which CUET eligibility is categorized.

The first is "common CUET eligibility criteria," and the other is the "program and college-specific CUET eligibility criteria," which vary. You must satisfy both.  

To be eligible to take the Common University Entrance Test, candidates must:

  • Be Indian citizens or persons of Indian origin
  • Must have completed (or be completing) the 10+2 level of education from a recognized board or university
  • Must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in their 10+2 level examinations

CUET Age Limit 2023

Question - I am 23 years old. Am I eligible to apply? 

  • There is no age limit for the candidates appearing in the CUET (UG) - 2023.
  • However, you will be required to fulfil the age criteria (if any) of the particular university to which you desire to apply. 

CUET Educational Qualification 2023

Question - I study in class 11. Can I appear in CUET 2023? 

  • Applicant must have completed class 12 from a recognized university or board.
  • Or 10+3 diploma approved by the State Board of Technical Education
  • Candidates must have studied subjects in 10+2 classes depending on their chosen course.

For instance - You opted for the Bachelor of Science (Mathematics honours), you must have studied Mathematics as a major subject.

  • As per the official notification, those appearing for the qualifying examination (12th exam) in 2023 are also eligible to apply for the Common Universities Entrance Test.

CUET Eligibility Criteria 2023 - Minimum Qualifying Marks for Undergraduate Courses

Question - I scored 75 marks in class 12. Am I eligible to apply for the CUET exam? 

  • You must have obtained a minimum qualifying score aggregate in class 12 or an equivalent exam to be eligible for the Common Universities Entrance Test 2023 as prescribed by the respective university.
  • Candidates in the General category must have scored at least 50% marks in the 10+2 examination.
  • All those belonging to the reserved categories must score a minimum of 45% marks in the 10+2 examination.
  • The minimum qualifying marks vary for each participating university.

CUET 2023 - Number of Attempts

Unlike other entrance exams, the CUET attempt limit is "n" the number of times. 

So, you can attempt this exam as long as you fulfil the CUET eligibility criteria for age, nationality, educational qualifications, and minimum marks. 

CUET Nationality 2023

To be eligible for the CUET Exam, one must abide by the following citizenship rules:

  • The candidate must be an Indian citizen.
  • A constituent subject of Nepal, Bhutan
  • A Tibetan refugee who landed in India before 1 January 1962 to make India their permanent home and reside there permanently.
  • Pakistanis, Burmese, Sri Lankans, Kenyans, Ugandans, Tanzanians, Zambians, Malawians, Zaireans, Ethiopians, and people from Vietnam who permanently moved to India.

CUET Reservation Policy 2023

A certain percentage of seats are reserved for Indian Nationals in specific reserved categories as per the rules prescribed by the Government of India.

However, in the case of the Central Universities, the reservation policy is applicable as per the rules of the respective university.

To claim the benefit of the reservation, upload the required category certificate issued on or after 01 January 2023 under the latest guidelines of the Government of India.

  • Note 3 - Some universities may provide reservations for the Economically Weaker Sections, which can account for 10% of the total seats

CUET UG Eligibility Criteria 2023 

To get admission to undergraduate courses at any of the 90 CUET universities, you must appear for the CUET entrance test.

The admissions are solely based on your performance in the entrance exam, making it extremely important to prepare thoroughly.

All the 90 participating universities follow different policies regarding criteria, age limit, relaxation, reservations, minimum marks, subject combinations, etc.

CUET 2023 Eligibility Criteria for the University of Delhi (DU)

From the academic session of 2023, the admissions to undergraduate courses at Delhi University are solely based on Common Universities Entrance Test (CUET) scores.

According to the CUET Entrance Exam Eligibility Criteria 2023, there is no age limit to apply for the entrance exam. DU also does not impose any eligibility requirement either. 

To write CUET, you must have valid scores in class 12. However, DU has specific requirements for getting admission to their UG program, which are as follows.

As per the CUET DU Eligibility Criteria, you must have appeared for the four exams in the CUET and scored minimum qualifying marks in the language test.

  • One language paper (compulsory)
  • Three domain subjects (compulsory)

CUET Eligibility Criteria 2023 for Banaras Hindu University (BHU)

The general CUET BHU Eligibility Criteria are categorized under four parameters, as explained below. However, the criteria vary for each program at the university.

  • Age limit: Your age should be no more than 22 years as of 01 July 2023, which means you must have been born on or after 02 July 2001.
  • Educational qualification: You must have completed class 12 or an equivalent exam from a recognized university or board.
  • Minimum qualifying marks: You must possess at least 50% aggregate marks in class 12.
  • Required subjects in CUET: You must write one language paper, at least two subsections from section B, and a general aptitude test for the CUET exam.

To be eligible for the admission process at AMU, you must make sure to satisfy the following CUET AMU eligibility criteria:

  • Educational qualification: You must have completed your class 12 or an equivalent exam from a recognized board.
  • Minimum qualifying marks: You will require a minimum score of 45% marks in the qualifying examination.

Common Universities Entrance Test 2023 for Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU)
