On June 16, 2023, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Indore held its IPMAT examination for students aspiring to study a 5-year integrated program in management. 

The IPMAT exam pattern was not revised and remained the same this year. 

The IPMAT 2023 exam was administered in 34 cities through the computer-based test mode. 

The following list of sections and their sectional time limits is provided. However, the administering body has not released the number of questions for each section: 

  • Quantitative Ability (MCQ) - 40-minutes
  • Quantitative Ability (Short Answers) - 40-minutes
  • Verbal Ability (MCQ) - 40-minutes

According to the IPMAT Exam Analysis 2023, the exam paper's level of difficulty was "moderate" and was slightly more challenging than the IPMAT Indore 2022 exam.

  • The IPMAT Indore exam pattern remained unchanged; the QA - SA section had 15 questions, the QA - MCQ section had 30 questions, and the verbal ability section had 45 questions.
  • The QA section was difficult, as per the student's feedback. The questions were logic and conditional-puzzle-based rather than calculation-based. The weightage of arithmetic was reduced compared to that of last year.
  • The VA section was the easiest of all sections. The paper structure was exactly the same as seen in IPMAT Indore 2022. However, the major difference seen in this year's paper was the absence of questions from idioms. More questions from phrasal verbs were asked.

  • Indeed, the IPMAT Rohtak 2023 paper's overall level was easier than in previous years. It was a bit more breezy than last year's, particularly the logical reasoning section.
  • Its easy nature suggests we might see a surge in high scores this year.
  • The number of attempts is worthy of mention as well, with a remarkable majority attempting more than 35 questions in the logical reasoning section.
  • Furthermore, many candidates went a step further, attempting as many as 38 or 39 questions out of the total 40. 
  • The Verbal Ability section of IPMAT Rohtak 2023 was pretty manageable.
  • No sectional time limit was there. Students had the flexibility to navigate between sections with ease.
  • Mind you, no on-screen calculator was to aid you, but scratch sheets were available for rough work.

  • Isn't it fascinating how the logical reasoning section seemed such a smooth sail for many this year at IPMAT Rohtak 2023?
  • Given the confidence with which most students tackled over 35 questions, we might be seeing some stellar scores there.
  • There was, however, that one slightly dubious question, but overall, it didn't deter many from attempting a whopping 38 or 39 out of 40!
  • Breaking it down, the question mix was quite varied. Topics like Coding-Decoding and Blood Relations had a few takers with 3-4 and 2 questions, respectively.
  • Age, Clocks, and Calendars were each represented by a single question, whereas Seating Arrangements occupied a more substantial chunk with 8 questions.

IPMAT Rohtak 2023 Analysis for Verbal Ability

  • The English section of IPMAT Rohtak 2023 was certainly navigable.
  • The questions were less demanding than in previous years, though this section had a playful trickiness.
  • The emphasis was clearly on areas like sentence construction and improvement, reading comprehension, and vocabulary, making it relatively easy-going compared to last year.
  • Now, let's delve a bit deeper. Two reading comprehension passages had 5 and 2 questions, respectively.
  • Fill in the blanks, synonyms/antonyms, idioms and phrases (one-word substitution), error spotting, and para jumbles each contributed 2-3 questions.
  • Sentence improvement appeared with 4-5 questions, while sentence re-arrangement and sentence completion contributed 3-4 questions each.
  • Lastly, the analogy was part of the fray with 1-2 questions.

IPMAT Rohtak 2023 Analysis for Quantitative Aptitude

  • While 4-5 questions asked were based on making comparisons, which was asked for the first time. Questions of this type require you to find out which value would be higher.
  • No questions were surprisingly asked on Data Interpretation.
  • Probability, Mensuration, Permutations and Combinations had a good weightage. They're consistent topics across various years of the exam. and were expected
  • Algebra was barely asked. While in the previous year's exam, there were a few questions, this time the number was almost negligible.
