 Revised IPMAT Selection Procedure 2020

This year, the IPMAT Exam 2020 is scheduled on 7th September 2020, in the afternoon. There are a few changes in the selection procedure for IPMAT 2020. Candidates remember that this change is applicable only for the 2020-2025 batch.

  • After the IPMAT 2020, there is no Writing Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI). So, candidates will be shortlisted for the video assessment based on their performance in the exam.
  • Further, candidates will be qualified for the admission process based on the IPMAT Cut off Marks.
  • After the online examination, candidates will be appearing for the video assessment for which separate admit cards will be released. 
  • If candidates fail to appear in either of the exams shall not be eligible for the final IPM Selection Procedure. It is mandatory for candidates to clear all the stages successfully in order to get admission into IIM Indore.

IPMAT 2020 Selection Procedure

As the IPMAT Aptitude Test is scheduled on 7th September 2020, know the revised IIM Indore IPM Selection criteria explained below. The new selection criteria will be applicable from the 2nd stage of the selection process. This IPM Selection Process is only for the 2020-2025 batch. Candidates will receive separate IPMAT Admit Card for Aptitude Test and Video Assessment.

Phase-1: Registration

  • The application form was released on 17th February 2020. Candidates fulfilling the complete IPMAT Eligibility were able to apply for the exam.
  • The application fee of Rs. 4130 was to be paid by general category candidates (for SC/ST/PwD candidates the fee was Rs. 2065).

Phase-2: IPMAT 2020 Exam

  • Candidates who have successfully filled their applications will receive the admit card to appear for the Aptitude Test.
  • This IIM IPM Aptitude Test is conducted across 34 cities in India. 
  • The exam is scheduled for 7th September 2020 in online mode.
  • There will be three sections in the Aptitude Test: Quantitative Ability (Multiple Choice Question-MCQ), Quantitative Ability (Short Answer Question-SA), and Verbal Ability (Multiple Choice Question-MCQ).
  • Each question will carry 4 marks and there is a negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer.

Phase-3: Video Assessment

  • Based on the cut off marks, candidates will be shortlisted for Video Assessment. The cut off marks is decided by the exam authorities considering various factors.
  • Under each category, a sufficient number of candidates will be shortlisted for video assessment based on the merit list generated based on Aptitude Test Score (ATS). The scores are calculated based on the below parameters.

  • Candidates shortlisted for the Video Based Assessment will be required to upload a self-recorded video file within a stipulated time period soon after the announcement of the Aptitude Test Result.
  • Candidates will be given a set of questions on which they will be required to record their videos and upload them within the given time period.
  • Candidates failing to upload the self-recorded video in the stipulated time will be disqualified from the further selection process.

Phase-4: Merit List Generation

  • Candidates who have successfully fulfilled the criteria for previous stages will be considered for final selection.
  • Category wise merit list will be generated based on Composite Score (CS)
  • provisional admission offers will be made accordingly adhering to the Government of India reservation norms.

IPMAT Selection Process 2020 - Seat Intake and Reservation

As per the government norms, there is a reservation percentage for each category. Candidates can check the category-wise reservation in the table mentioned below:

IPMAT Reservation Policy 2020

As per Government of India requirement, 27% of the seats are reserved for Other Backward Classes candidates belonging to the “Non-Creamy” layer (NC-OBC), 15%of the seats for Scheduled Caste (SC), 7.5% for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates, up to 10% for Economically Weaker Sections (EWSs), and 5% for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwD).

Candidates with the below-mentioned categories will come under the PWD reservation category.

  • blindness and low vision
  • deaf and hard of hearing
  • locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy
  • autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability, and mental illness.

Reservation candidates note that they should check the eligibility requirements carefully before filling the IPMAT 2020 Application Form. Candidates belonging to NC-OBC/SC/ST/EWS/ PwD categories have to meet the eligibility criteria and a certain minimum level of performance in order to be considered for the admission process.

IPMAT Selection Procedure for Domestic Applicants

Candidates have to qualify in the aptitude test, writing ability test, and personal interview to get selected for the final admission procedure. candidates can go through all the phases of the selection procedure for domestic applicants in this post.

IPMAT Selection Procedure for Phase 1

The first stage of the IPMAT 2020 selection process is the registration phase in which candidates have to submit their application forms on or before the last date. Candidates who have satisfied the minimum eligibility criteria should submit the application online.

IPMAT Selection Procedure for Phase 2

Based on the applications received, IIM Indore calls the eligible candidates to appear for the Aptitude Test (AT) which is conducted in 34 cities across the country. The IPMAT Exam Pattern of the aptitude test as follows:

  • The aptitude exam consists of three sections: Quantitative Ability (Multiple Choice), Quantitative Ability (Short Answer Questions), and Verbal Ability (Multiple Choice Questions).
  • The total number of questions in the exam is 100 and each question carries 4 marks.
  • There will be a negative marking of 1 for each wrong answer. However, there is no negative marking for the Quantitative Ability section.

IPMAT Selection Procedure for Phase 3

In the third phase of the selection process, the IIM Indore will create an eligible pool for stage-4 process based on the raw scores, and the minimum cut off marks scored in each section of the aptitude test. The cut off marks for each section will be decided by the Admission Committee. 

IPMAT Selection Procedure for Phase 5

Candidates will be shortlisted for written ability test and personal interview from the eligible pool for each category based on the minimum marks scored in each section of the aptitude test. Candidates not meeting the minimum performance in any of PI parameters will not be considered for the next stage of the selection process. The merit list will be generated based on the Aptitude test score as follows:

IPMAT Phase-5 Selection Process

Only candidates who satisfy the requirements mentioned in the earlier stages will be considered for the final IPMAT selection procedure. Category wise merit list will be generated based on Composite Score (CS) as mentioned in the table below.

IPM Selection Process 2020 for International Applicants Applying through SAT

International applicants seeking admission to five-year IPM of IIM Indore will be selected based on the performance in SAT, Written Ability Test (WAT) & Personal Interview (PI). If candidates fail to appear either in SAT, WAT and PI shall not be considered for the final selection process.

IPMAT Phase-1 Selection Process for International Applicants

IPMAT Phase-2 Selection Process for International Applicants

  • Shortlisted candidates shall appear for Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) at any one of the seven centers mentioned below.
  • Candidates not meeting the minimum performance in any of PI parameters will not be considered for the next stage of the selection process.
  • As per the IPMAT notification, individual regret letters will not be sent to applicants who are not shortlisted for WAT and PI.

IPMAT Phase-3 Selection Process for International Applicants

Only candidates who satisfy the requirements mentioned in the earlier stages will be considered for the final selection process. The final merit list will be generated based on the Composite Score (CS) as follows:
