There can be various scenarios when aspirants want to appear for this exam. Before filling out the UGC NET law application form 2026, make sure to check if you're under these scenarios.  

Ongoing Master's Degree / Awaiting Results  

• Candidate who are still studying or awaiting results can apply for the UGC NET law exam in the final year of their masters  
• Once the UGC NET law result is declared, you will have 2 years to complete your masters  
• You need to present a proof of meeting the minimum marks requirement within 2 years  

Ph.D. Degree Holders  

If you've completed your master's degree before September 19, 1991, you only need 50% of marks in your master's to be eligible irrespective of your category.  

UGC NET Law JRF Eligibility Criteria 2026

Candidates who want to qualify for UGC NET law JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) 2026, must meet the following eligibility criteria:  

• The maximum age to qualify for JRF is 30 years. OBC/SC/ST/PwD/female candidates get 5 years of age relaxation.  
• As said earlier, candidates must have secured at least 55% or 50% of marks (as applicable) in their master's.  
• Candidates in their final year of master's or the ones awaiting results can also apply.

To qualify for assistant professor eligibility, candidates need to meet the following conditions:  

• There's no age limit for assistant professor eligibility  
• The minimum marks requirement remains same as that of JRF  
• Final year candidates or the ones awaiting results can apply

Yes. Foreign LL. M degree holders can apply for UGC NET law 2026 if their foreign master's degree is equivalent to Indian master's degree.
