UGC NET Law 2026 December cycle exam is scheduled from December 14 to 19, 2026, with buffer dates on December 20 and 21, 2026. NTA has released the official notification for the December cycle of UGC NET Law on October 8, 2026.

UGC NET Law 2026 application form for the December cycle is now open at ugcnet.nta.nic.in. The last date to complete the registration is October 28, 2026. The application fee for the general category is INR 1150, for general-EWS and OBC_NCL is INR 600, and for SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender is INR 325.    

The result for the June cycle of UGC NET 2026 was released on August 28, 2026. The cutoff marks for the unreserved category are 204, for the SC category are 180, and for the ST category are 174.

UGC NET Law Eligibility Criteria 2026

According to the UGC NET Law 2026 Eligibility Criteria as stated by the NTA:  

• Candidates must have an LL.M. or equivalent master's degree from a UGC-recognized university  
• They must score at least 55% of marks  
• Reserved categories (OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), SC, ST, PwD, and Third Gender Candidates) and PhD. Holders (before September 19, 1991) get a 5% relaxation on minimum marks.  

Candidates who have an ongoing master's degree or are awaiting results may apply provisionally in the final year. However, they must complete the degree with the required percentage within two years of the NET result declaration, or the result is treated as cancelled.  

No upper age limit applies to the NET-only qualification.  

Note for JRF candidates: Age limit of 30 years or below as of the notification's cutoff date (relaxation up to 5 years for OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD, and female candidates).
