AIBE Syllabus 2022

The Bar Council of India, which conducts the certification exam, will hold the sole responsibility for prescribing the syllabus for the All India Bar Examination (AIBE).

Generally, the questions are designed to test your basic knowledge of law subjects and analytical ability. Therefore, knowing the syllabus will play a vital role in qualifying for the exam.

AIBE Exam 2022 Syllabus 

According to the notification, the All India Bar Examination question paper consists of 100 questions, and each question carries one mark.

However, there is no negative marking in the exam. You will get 3 hours 30 minutes to answer the question paper.

You can attempt the AIBE Exam 2022 in any 11 languages such as Telugu, English, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Bengali, etc. The AIBE Syllabus 2022 includes the following topics:

AIBE 2022 Syllabus: Topic-wise Weightage

In the AIBE exam, the questions are asked from 19 topics mentioned in the table above. However, the weightage of each topic varies in the exam.

AIBE Topic-wise Syllabus 2022

A total of 10 questions are asked from this topic in the exam. The following are some of the essential topics under Constitution Law.

  • Salient features of the Indian Constitution
  • Fundamental rights
  • Legislative process
  • Directive principle of state policy
  • Emergency powers
  • Federalism

Indian Penal Code (IPC)

You can expect a maximum of 8 questions on this topic. The questions are framed from the following topics in the AIBE exam.

  • General principles of crime
  • Principles of criminal liability
  • Criminal act by several persons or groups (Section 34-38)
  • Offenses affecting human life
  • Criminal trespass

Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC)

Under this topic, you can expect a maximum of 10 questions based on the following topics:

  • The introductory and pre-trial process
  • Salient features of the Juvenile justice
  • Salient features of the probation of offenders act
  • Criminal rules and practice

Code of Civil Procedure (CPC)

A total of 10 questions are asked from CPC in the exam. The  following topics are covered under the AIBE syllabus:

  • Difference between procedural law and substantive law
  • Suits in particular cases
  • Appearance, and examination of parties such as discovery, inspection, and production of documents

Evidence Act

The following sub-topics are covered under the AIBE Syllabus of the evidence act: the difference between substantive law and procedural law, central conceptions in the law of evidence, relevancy & admissibility of confessions, character evidence, etc.

Alternative Dispute Redressal including Arbitration Act

In the AIBE exam, a total of 4 questions are asked under this topic. The following sub-topics are covered under this topic in the AIBE exam syllabus 2022.

Different methods of dispute resolution such as the inquisitorial method, adversarial method, and other methods like arbitration, conciliation, negotiation, and mediation.

Family Law

A total of 8 questions are asked from topics like Hindu law, Hindu undivided family, inheritance & succession, the law relating to Hindu minority & guardianship.

Public Interest Litigation

The following sub-topics are covered under public interest litigation of the AIBE 2022 syllabus:

  • Concept of public interest litigation in India
  • Procedural law in the public interest litigation
  • Judicial activism to public interest litigation act
  • Role of judiciary in the enforcement of rights through public interest litigation and social action litigation

Administrative Law

You can expect three questions on this topic in the exam. The following are some of the important sub-topics under administrative law.

  • Nature & scope of administrative law
  • The judicial power of administration
  • Corporations and public undertakings

Professional Ethics & Cases of Professional Misconduct under BCI rules

The AIBE question paper includes four questions from this topic. The following are some of the topics covered under the AIBE Exam 2022 syllabus.

The legal profession and its responsibilities, the duty to the court, selected major judgments of the supreme court, selected opinions of the Bar Council of India.

Company Law

A maximum of two questions are asked from this topic exam. It is essential to focus on the following topics:

Environmental Law

The essential topics under environmental law are the idea of the environment, environmental policy & law, prevention and control of pollution, biological diversity & legal order, environment protection act, 1986.

Cyber Law

The following are essential topics under cyber law: fundamentals of cyberspace, intellectual property issues, cyberspace, Indian penal law & cybercrimes, obscenity & pornography, change in Indian law, distal evidence, investigation & adjudication issues.

Labour & Industrial Laws

A total of questions are asked from topics like the industrial disputes act, 1947, trade unions act, 1926,  labor welfare legislation, and the minimum wages act, 1948.

Law of Tort, including Motor Vehicle Act and Consumer Protection Law

You can expect a maximum of 5 questions on this topic. The following topics are covered under this topic:

  • The general condition of liability in tort
  • Justification of tort
  • Remedies and damages
  • Personal capacity
  • Consumer protection act, 1986

Law related to Taxation

The important topics under the AIBE syllabus are direct taxes, indirect taxes, customs, and duties.

A total of four questions are asked from taxation laws in the exam.

Land Acquisition Act

The topics covered under this topic include preliminary investigation, publication of the preliminary notification, payment of damages, declaration of intended acquisition, award by the collector, temporary occupation of land, acquisition of land for companies.

Intellectual Property Laws

The topic covered under the intellectual property law of AIBE syllabus 2022 include:
