With the first session of JEE Main Paper 2 Exam being conducted on June 20, a set of important Instructions for the candidates has been released by the NTA. 

This year, the instructions have been altered since the decline of Covid restrictions. Therefore, if you are appearing for the exam this year, it is important to be aware of the guidelines issued.

On not abiding by any of these prescribed rules in the examination hall, you will not be allowed to write the exam.

Hence, it is important to know the exam guidelines to help you avoid making mistakes unknowingly.

JEE Main Paper 2 Exam Day Instructions for Entry at the Exam Center

  • Candidates are advised to report to the Examination Center well in time i.e. 2 hours before commencement of the examination.
  • Candidates should take their seats immediately after the opening of the Examination Hall. If the candidates do not report in time due to any reason i.e. traffic jam, train/bus delay, etc, they are likely to miss some of the important instructions to be announced in the Examination Rooms/Halls. The NTA shall not be responsible for any delay.
  • The candidate must show, on-demand, the Admit Card downloaded/printed from the NTA website for admission to the examination room/hall. The Test Centre Staff on duty is authorized to verify the identity of candidates and may take steps to verify and confirm the identity credentials. Candidates are requested to extend their full cooperation. A candidate who does not possess a valid Admit Card and authorized Photo ID shall not be permitted to take the examination under any circumstances by the Centre Superintendent.
  • A seat indicating Roll Number will be allotted to each candidate. Candidates should find and sit in their allocated seats only. In case a candidate ventures to change his/her seat and does not sit on the seat allotted to him/her could face cancellation of candidature. No plea would be entertained in this regard.
  • The candidate should ensure that the Question Paper available on the computer is as per his/her opted subject indicated in the Admit Card. In case, the subject of the Question Paper is other than his/her opted subject, the same may be brought to the notice of the Invigilator concerned.
  • The candidates may approach the Centre Superintendent/Invigilator in the room for any technical assistance, first aid emergency, or any other information during the course of the examination. For any queries or issues regarding Computer Based Test, the candidates may contact on Helpline Numbers available on Joint Entrance Examination (Main) website.
  • In case a candidate, by furnishing false information, appears in more than one shift/date, his candidature will be canceled and his result will not be declared.
  • For those who are unable to appear on the scheduled date of the test for any reason, a re-test shall not be held by the NTA under any circumstances.

What is the Dress Code for JEE Main Paper 2 Exam?

You should strictly follow the dress code on the day of the exam. Otherwise, you are not allowed to write the exam.

  • Try to wear simple clothes.
  • Try to avoid wearing clothes having too many pockets.
  • Jewelry and metal items will also not be allowed into the exam hall.
  • You are not allowed to cover your head or face during the exam.
  • You need to wear face masks the current days; however, the exam authorities shall provide masks at the center.

Prohibited Items at JEE Main Exam Centers

According to the JEE Main Exam Day Guidelines, certain items are not allowed in the exam center as listed below:

  • Electronic devices such as mobile phones
  • Calculators or digital watches with the facility of a calculator
  • Bags
  • Printed or written material
  • Textbooks

Mandatory Things to be Carried to the JEE Main Paper 2 Exam Center

You are allowed to carry only a few things to the exam center as listed below. Ensure to follow the prescribed JEE Main Paper 2 Exam Day Instructions to avoid rejection of your candidature. 

  • JEE Main Paper 2 Admit Card
  • Passport size photograph (same as that on the admit card)
  • Government-issued photo identity proof
  • Hand sanitizer (max 50ml)

JEE Main Paper 2 Exam Day Instructions for Scribes

  • You should fill in the type and percentage of disability correctly when filling out the application form if you belong to the PwD category.
  • Note that you will be provided with a Scribe or reader only if you have disabilities of 40% or above.
  • You can choose your own Scribe or may submit the request for a Scribe to the center superintendent.
  • If you request to meet your Scribe before the exam, you would be allowed to meet 1 day before the exam day to verify if the Scribe is suitable or not.
  • 1-hour compensatory time will be allotted for those with 40% or more disability.

JEE Main Paper 2 Exam Day Guidelines for Diabetic Students

  • If you are a diabetic student, you can carry sugar tablets, fruits like bananas, apples, oranges, and transparent water bottles.
  •  You cannot carry any packed foods like chocolates, candy, or sandwiches in the examination hall.
