General/Business Awareness Preparation Tips

The General Awareness/Business Awareness section is one of the most difficult sections of the DU JAT paper, with questions covering a wide range of topics. However, this is one of the sections that can cause a person to breeze through the DU JAT exam.

This year, the section would have 25 questions, and because answering a question in this section takes less than a minute, it could mean the difference between a candidate getting into the top colleges and not.

The Business and General Awareness part examine a candidate's knowledge of various ideas and theories in business studies, as well as their awareness of current events. It is basically divided into two sections namely Current Affairs and Static General awareness.

  • Generally, 15 - 16 questions are asked from current affairs in this section, therefore more attention should be given to it.
  • For Current Affairs reading the newspaper regularly is a must and, apart from that, you can also refer to the monthly news and events magazine, or mobile applications such as GK Today.
  • Give special attention to the Business, Economy and Editorial Section.
  • Go through Current affairs of at least 12 months from the exam date.
  • Read compiled monthly current affairs from gk capsules.
  • In static gk questions are generally asked from general awareness and Business awareness. 
  • Generally, questions based on Business leaders and organizations like UN, WTO are asked in Business awareness.
  • Don't try to mug up things, just read important events twice so that you will be able to recall when something similar is posed in the examination.
  • Attempt previous year papers to get acquainted with the type and difficulty level of the questions posed in the examination.
