Step 2: Click on the "Munsiff Magistrate" link to start the application procedure.

Kerala Judiciary Vacancy 2023

The Authority has announced 11 vacancies (which may increase if the requirements in the inner courts increase) in the recently published notification by the Kerala High Court serial no: 08/2022, published on 20/10/2022.

There will be no promotion for these positions; instead, the candidates will be chosen through a direct recruitment process. Also, the Authority has exceeded the age limit to 50 years for candidates with deaf & dumb as well as orthopedically disabled candidates.

Kerala Judiciary Analysis 2023

When you will go through the question of Kerala Judiciary, you will find that the questions set by the Authorities do have a moderate difficulty level. You can say that the legal part will be easy but GK and GS will demand more effort.

And given that Kerala Judiciary is not a technical examination hence Maths and Reasonings were also easy. However, for a few of you, it can come across as a distressing one because the Mains paper has Elaborate Questions, which call for a good understanding of law and Jurisdiction. Kerala Judiciary Exam Pattern 2023

"Kerala Judicial Service Examination consists of three stages: Preliminary, Mains and Interview, and each Examination have its respective pattern." With this, we mean that there is a separate pattern for the Prelims and Mains Examination and you have to develop a good understanding of each of these. 

Preliminary

The primary component is made up entirely of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQ) divided into three sections: Part A, Part B, and Part C. This paper will be worth 100 points distributed in the following ratio: 40:30:30, with each correct answer worth 2 points. It is worth a total of 200 points.

Furthermore, for each incorrect attempt, you will receive a -1 (negative marking) from your final score. It will last two hours and thirty minutes. You will proceed to the main papers if you qualify for this round. Furthermore, the vacancy ratio is ten to one.

Mains

Once you clear the Preliminary examination with flying colors, you have to move to the next step, the Mains examination. The interesting part is that it is neither completely subjective nor objective. There is a mix of questions.

The Mains have 3 parts in each paper where part 1 carries 15 MCQs for 15 marks. Rest Part 2 & Part 3 has elaborate Questions, which can be answered in a Descriptive and Narrative manner. Each Paper carries 100 marks, and you are expected to score at least 45% in each paper to crack the nutshell.

Kerala Judiciary Eligibility 2023

What shall we answer here: What quality must you possess to become a suitable candidate for Kerala Judicial Service? The eligibility requirements of the Kerala Judicial Service are pretty distinct, and if you don't ponder the details of it, you might miss the major terms and conditions, which can lead to a loss in the Kerala Judicial Service.

So basically there will be two types of recruitment. The Direct one will invite applications from all the candidates who are not eligible for transfer. And another one is the transfer, which you can also assume is a promotion. Now let's see the eligibility for each of the criteria separately. 

Direct appointment

To become eligible for direct recruitment, you need to possess a few mandatory qualities, or else you will be rejected outright by the Kerala Judicial Service. This enlistment Includes four parameters: Age, Qualifications, Experience, and Nationality. Let's know each one in detail. 

Age

• You should be a minimum of 21 years and a maximum of 34 years by appearing in the examination. 
• If you belong to SC/ST/FEMALE/PwD quota, you will be relaxed in age between 3-5 years as per the state reservation protocol. 

Academic 

• A degree in LLB (Either Hons or Integrated) should have been procured from the University, recognized by UGC, and accredited by the Bar Council of India (BCI).
• You must have no paper remaining for appearing. It means your results should contain a score for all the past papers with no back remains. 

Experience 

• Ideally, you are expected to have a minimum of 5 years of experience for the District Judiciary Exams (ADPO) and seven years of expenses are required for becoming a High Court judge. 

Nationality 

• You should be of Indian Nationality, and you must possess at least one Government document citing the same. 
• Also, if you are a Domicile candidate (resident of Kerala), then make sure to produce your residential certificate because Domiciles are given reservations over candidates from other states. 

Physical and Character affirmations 

• The applicant for the position should be of a promising personality.
• Should be in good health and free of physical ailments that would disqualify him/her for the position.

Appointment following Transfer

• You have to acquire a law degree from the BCI-recognized University. If you haven’t obtained your degree from a recognized university, then you will not be considered eligible for the Music - Magistrate post.
• You also have to be an enrolled advocate under the state bar council to receive a transfer according to the Feeder categories listed as SI. Nos (1) to (8).
• You should not have exceeded the age bar of 54 while completing step 2 (Interview) of the appointment procedure.
• One who is not serving in the judicial segment currently but has been employed previously as an advocate, Music, etc. 
• The post should be held for the prescribed number of years, and a higher-paying position in the future will be made to the appointed officer.

Kerala Judiciary Reservation Policy for General Recruitment 

If you are from SC/ST/PwD, then this information will be useful for your reference. 

1. You will be given reservation in the direct recruitment process under the Part II of the Kerala State and Subordinate Service Rules from 14 to 17 of 1958.
2. In the Transfer recruitment, you will be given preference under Rule 5 (3) of Judicial Services Rules, which were introduced in 1991 by the States. 
3. 1% of the total reservation will be allocated if you hail from the category of Locomotor disability section.
4. However, you need to produce a genuine certificate from the concerned authorities because your documents will go through several rounds of verification for the authenticity check. 

Pre-training for Kerala Judicial Service

A very appreciative approach has been taken by the Kerala Judicial Service Authority to train the underprivileged candidates (SC/ST and OBC) to give them a pre-training before the mains and Viva Voce round. However, this training session will be short-term and available only for those candidates who have cleared their Preliminary Examination.

So, if you have pre-cleared and belong to any of the above categories, you will benefit from it. Also, this training session is provided with 0 fees; hence, you have to pay nothing to become a part of this training guild. 

Expected Cut-off in the Kerala Judicial service 

Correspondingly to any other competitive examination, the direct recruitment process of the Kerala Judicial Service Examination has a cut-off score enlistment. So, you must remain aware that anyone who surpasses the prerequisite cut-off score will be considered the ideal candidate for the Kerala Judicial Service. 

• If you hail from the General Category, you must obtain 40% in the Pre and Mains, and your overall score should be more than 45%. (hence try to score as maximum as possible, don’t stick to 40%).
• If you are from the SC/ST/PwD, you will be given a 5% relaxation in the overall score.
