The Central Board of Secondary Education in coordination with the Education Ministry decided to promote all the class 1-8 students to the next standard without any examination. Due to the highly spread Coronavirus, the Ministry was concerned about children and hence decided to cancel the examinations.

Students studying in 9 and 11 are promoted to the next standard on the basis of internal assessments of the school including projects, periodic tests, term exams, etc conducted until date. In the press meeting, the CBSE board said that all students studying in classes 1 to 8 are promoted to the next grade. This advisory was issued in consultation with the NCERT.

The Miniter of Human Resource Development, Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank" had recently tweeted conveying that he advised promoting all students of class 1 to 8 to the next standard. He also added that students who are not promoted at this time can appear in the school tests conducted either in online or offline mode.

Earlier, the CBSE spokesperson had said that they are still in discussion about promoting students and will be rectified only after the discussion with the Directorate of Education for respective states. Several other boards and state boards had already announced the promotion of students to the next grade. However,  CBSE had not notified about the promotion until today. So, now all the parents and students have been clarified about the exam cancellation. Hence, students are advised to stay safe and start studying for their next grade.

But, now millions of student's worries have been resolved. With the outbreak of coronavirus, everything on this earth has halted. India's Prime Minister announced 21-day lockdown for India in order to stop the spreading of the virus. Hence, many examinations have been postponed until the lockdown and Educational Institutions have been closed temporarily. Also, the highly competitive examinations like JEE Mains, NEET, UPSC, and other Government examinations have been postponed. The new dates are not yet announced.
