Union minister PP Chaudhary reached Barbados


●        The Union Law and Justice and Corporate Affairs Minister of State, Shri P. P. Choudhary, started the second phase of their tour of the two countries as part of the broad contact plan launched by the Ministry of External Affairs.
●        Chaudhary reached Barbados on April 25, 2018.
●        He started his tour with the interaction with NRI families, in which he talked mainly to the medical professionals who contributed to the health administration and medical education institutions of Barbados.
 
During the period from August, 2017 to March 2018, total revenues of Rs 7.19 lakh crore were collected under GST


●        In the period between August, 2017 and March 2018, during the financial year 2017-18, collection of revenue amounting to Rs 7.19 lakh crore has been collected under the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
●        It includes CGST of 1.19 lakh crore, SGST of Rs 1.72 lakh crore, IGST of Rs 3.66 lakh crore and a cess of 62,021 crore or cess.
●        The average monthly collection during this period of eight months has been Rs 89,885 crore.

Tourism Minister inaugurates Noida campus of Indian Cooking Institute


●        Minister of State for Tourism (Independent Charge) and Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, Shri K.J. Alfonso today inaugurated the Noida campus of Indian Cooking Institute (ICI).
●        This institute is in line with the resolution of creating expert skilled manpower in the hospitality sector and promoting research and development in cooking.
●        Inaugurating the institute, Shri K.J. Alfons said that in the last years tourism sector has grown rapidly.
 
Policy Commission announces launch of Atal New India Challenge


●        The Atal Innovation Mission of the Policy Commission announced the launch of the Atal New India Challenge on April 26, 2018, which came into being after the call for the Prime Minister's innovations and technologies to make them relevant to the people.
●        A grant of up to one crore rupees will be given to the applicants, who demonstrate their ability to provide strength, purpose and technologies to the product.
●        Apart from this grant assistance, additional support will be provided in various consultations, handholding, incubation and various steps of commercialization and will also create comprehensive deployment.

Hyderabad's top cop in Civil Services Examination


●        UPSC has announced the results of the Civil Services Examination 2017.

●        Until recently, the Indian National Agricultural Co-operation Marketing Federation (NAFED), a financial crisis and bank littered in debt, has performed impressively with record profits for the financial year 2017-18.
●        With this, Nafed has been able to give a loan of Rs. 220 crores as cash payment to the lending bank while completing a portion of the agreement to pay Rs. 478 crores.
●        Nafed had signed a debt settlement mortgage letter at its headquarters in New Delhi on March 27, 2018.
 
Indian Bureau of Standards issued the first license for liquid chlorine on All India basis
 
●        Indian Bureau of Standards (BIS) has given first license to liquid crystal alloy to Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited on All India basis.
●        This is the first license given on All India basis.
●        License will be effective for a period of one year from April 12, 2018.

Cabinet approves minimum support prices of raw jute for 2018-19 season


●        The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs today gave its approval to increase the minimum support price of raw jute for the year 2018-19 season.
●        The minimum support price of raw jute of net average quality (FAQ) for the 2018-19 season has been increased to Rs 3,700 per quintal.
●        The price was 3,500 rupees per quintal in the 2017-18 season.

●         In the Mekong river, there has been an increase in the population of dolphins during the census which has increased from 80 to 92.
●         During the first census in 1997, its population was 200.
