President addresses annual convocation of IIT Kharagpur
●        President Shri Ramnath Kovind today addressed the 64th Annual Convocation of Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur in Kharagpur, West Bengal.
●        Immediately after independence, under the committee set up by the government, IIT Kharagpur was established to promote technical education in the country.
●        President of this committee, British Nobel laureate Dr. A.V. Hill, who recommended the establishment of an institution on the lines of MIT in the US.
 
Discovering new reserves of coal
●        The government has not slowed down the pace of search for new estimates of coal in the country.
●        New resources of coal are identified by promotional / regional search / drilling.
●        Each year, about one to three billion tonnes of new resources are included in ready stock of coal in the country through encouraging / regional exploration.
 

Central Home Minister tomorrow will launch Police Cadet Program tomorrow
●        Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister of State for Human Development, Prakash Javadekar, Chief Minister of Haryana, Manohar Lal, Union Minister of State for Planning and Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers, Rao Inderjit Singh, Union Home Minister Hansraj Gangaram Ahir and Haryana Government Minister Rao Narveer Singh. The lion will launch the Student Police Cadet Program on July 21, 2018.
●        This program aims to make bridges between the police and the mass community with the help of school students.

TRAI announces new rules for telecom companies
 
●        The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has announced the new rules on July 19, 2018 to curb fake calls and messages.
●        According to the new rules, the user's consent has been made mandatory before sending any unwanted messages.
●        TRAI has asked telecom companies to ensure that any kind of commercial communication should be done according to the registered senders only.

Passage of the Prevention of Corruption Prevention Bill from the Rajya Sabha
 
●        The Rajya Sabha passed the Corruption Prevention Amendment Bill 2013 by sound vote on July 19, 2018.
●        This bill has been amended in the Prevention of Corruption Prevention (Amendment) Act 1988.
●        According to the bill, before the case of corruption on LokSevak Lokayuktas in the case of Lokpal and states, the permission of the Lokayuktas will be sought.
●        A total of 43 revisions were brought on behalf of the government, which were passed by the consensus.
 
100 rupees new note will be launched
 
●        RBI will soon issue new notes of Rs 100.

NMCG organized 'Ganga Plantation Campaign' in five Ganga basin states

Justice KM Joseph named by the collegium of Supreme Court
 

●        The Supreme Court of the 5 senior judges, headed by Chief Justice Deepak Mishra, has decided to recommend the appointment of Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court KM Joseph again as a Supreme Court Justice.
●        Earlier on 26th April the Central Government had sent back the recommendation of the Council to promote Justice Joseph. The Center had argued that this proposal is not under the parameters of the top court.
●        It was also said from the Center that there is enough representation from Kerala in the Supreme Court, from which they come.

TDP's no confidence motion against Narendra Modi government failed

●        There were 325 votes in opposition to the motion for non-confidence while only 126 votes were cast in favor of it.
●        A total of 451 members voted on this proposal.

●        Even after this, an unfortunate incident took place in Bidar, where a 32-year software engineer Mohammad Azam was killed after a viral rumor allegedly kidnapped children on Whatsapp.

●        Myanmar was initiated by India on July 19, 2018 as a 68th member of the International Solar Organization, which has signed Framework.
●        Myanmar has expressed commitment to the use of solar energy by joining this organization.

Famous songwriter Gopal Das Neeraj dies
 
●        Padmabhushan Gopal Das 'Neeraj', a well known songwriter and well-known poet of Hindi, passed away on 19th July 2018 at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi.
●        He was 93 years old.
●        Gopal Das Neeraj, who was seriously ill for a long time due to old age, was admitted to Lotus Hospital in Agra on getting worse.
●        He was admitted to AIIMS from Agra after his condition worsened.

AMU Medical College will get Gopaldas' Neeraj's body
 
●        The pious body of the great poet and songwriter Gopaldas 'Neeraj' will be brought to his Aligarh residence on Saturday.

Wipro's profit reaches Rs 2,120 crore
 
●        The country's third largest information technology company Wipro 's integrated net profit rose two percent to Rs 2,120.80 crore in the first quarter of the current financial year.
●        It was Rs 2,076.70 crore in the same quarter last fiscal.
●        The company said in the information given to the stock exchange that operating income during the reported period increased 2.5 percent to Rs 13,977.70 crore.

Ten indigenous nuclear power reactors will be built in the country
●        Government has given government and financial sanctions in June 2017 to install ten indigenous nuclear power reactors in the country.
●        Each of these reactors has a capacity of 700 MW.
●        These reactors manufactured from indigenous technology will be planted by the Indian Atomic Energy Corporation Limited.
●        NPCIL is a wholly-owned public undertaking of the Government of India, which works under the Department of Atomic Energy.
 
A world-class exhibition will be organized on the four famous celebrities of Bengal in the National Library
●        Secretary Raghvendra Singh in the Ministry of Culture today said that a world-class exhibition on Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay and Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, will be permanently put in the National Library of Kolkata.

●        Keeping in view the revised curriculum, the Government has proposed to set up National Resource Centers to prepare online training material in view of the improvement in the subjects, new and emerging trends and improvement in teaching method.

By 2022, the target of setting up a renewable energy capacity of 175 gigawatts fixed.
 
●        The government has set a target of storing a 40 gigawatt solar capacity grid on the rooftops of the house, including the Delhi-NCR till 2022.

●        CSIR-National Physical Laboratory signed a memorandum of understanding with the Hindustan Petroleum Limited for the indigenous development of petroleum certified reference material under the commercial name of the Indian Directorate.
●        This will ensure that the petroleum products used by all stakeholders, including the common man, not only maintain the highest quality quality ecosystem but also save the foreign exchange through export replacement for CRMS.

Constitutional authority of women to enter and worship in Sabarimala temple: Supreme Court
 
●        While hearing the matter of entering and praying women in Kerala Sabarimala temple, the Supreme Court on July 18, 2018, remarked that the Sabarimala temple is not a personal property, it is a public property.
●        The Supreme Court said that if men have the right to enter and worship in this temple then women also have the same rights as well.


Ayushman plans to release 11 million cards
 
●        For Ayushman Bharat Scheme , the government will print about 11 crore 'Family Cards' and will hand them over to the people.
●        The government will organize 'Ayushman Pakhwara' in villages.
●        The cards will be given at the same time.
●        The government will also make 24X7 call centers in Delhi where complaints of people related to this medical insurance scheme will be heard and questions will be answered.

Given
●        ICAI will provide technical assistance to BIBF by reviewing the accounts and finance courses of BIBF related to accounting and finance.
●        ICAI will recommend implementing its CA curriculum which will help the students of BIBF sit in the examination of ICAI for the purpose of getting ICAI membership.


Special remission of prisoners approved On the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi
●        The Union Cabinet today approved the proposal of granting special remission to the prisoners on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
●        On the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the prisoners will be given special remission and they will be released in three stages.
●        In the first phase, prisoners will be released on October 02, 2018 (the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi).

Approval of establishment of Medical College in Salempur, Deoria, Uttar Pradesh
●        The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the proposal of the Uttar Pradesh Government to set up a new medical college in Deoria, at the cost of Rs 250 crore under Centrally Sponsored Scheme.
●        In Uttar Pradesh, the requirement of 24 medical colleges including eight medical colleges has been approved.
 
Special package approved for irrigation projects in the drought-prone areas of Vidarbha, Marathwada and the rest of Maharashtra
●        The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the implementation of these projects to complete 83 small irrigation projects and 8 major / medium irrigation projects in the drought-prone areas of Marathwada, Vidarbha and the rest of Maharashtra.
●        With the completion of these projects, the water source will be ensured to the farmers in the command area of these projects. This will increase their crops and as a result the income of the farmers will increase.
 

Approval of policy framework for making the contract to share production in prior NELP and NELP blocks
●        Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the policy framework for making the production sharing contract operating system compatible for the increased domestic production of hydrocarbon resources.
●        Based on the recommendations of Hydrocarbon Vision 2030 for the North-Eastern region, the Government has increased the time-bound exposure and evaluation period in operational blocks considering the geographical, environmental and logistic challenges of the North East region.

●        Government of India has given the theoretical approval of the construction and operation of the Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Laboratory - India (LIGO) in association with the LGO Lab of USA.
●        It is the third observatory in the United States, like 2 lego observatories. This was signed by DAE-DST of India and National Science Foundation of America on 30.03.2016.
●        LIGO India Observatory is scheduled to be ready in the year 2024.


Constitution of Heritage Cabinet by the Government of Odisha
 
●        Heritage Cabinet was constituted by the Odisha Government to preserve the historical remains of the state and monuments and to promote rich culture and language.
●        According to the notification issued by the Department of Parliamentary Affairs, this cabinet will have eight members and it will be headed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
●        Its purpose will be to provide protection to ancient monuments, temples and places of archaeological importance in the state and conserve the culture, language and literature of the state.

National database for those who hold gun licenses
 
●        The Home Ministry has issued a notification and said that the names of those who hold all new and old gun licenses from April 2019 will be included in the national database.
●        Unique Identification Number (UIN) will also be issued to license holders.

●        This MOU will improve bilateral cooperation in the field of traditional medicine and homeopathy in both countries. In view of the shared cultural heritage of both countries, this MoU is very important.
 
 Approval of MOU between India and Indonesia in the field of pharmaceutical products, biological products and cosmetic regulation
●        The Union Cabinet has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the cooperation between the Central Drug Standards Control Organization (CDSCO) and the National Agency for Drug and Food Control (BPOM) of Indonesia in the field of pharmaceuticals, pharmaceuticals, biological products and cosmic regulation (MOU) ) Has granted its retrospective approval.
●        This MoU was signed in Jakarta on May 29, 2018.
