भारतीय-अमेरिकी राज अय्यर बने अमेरिकी सेना के पहले CIO

• जुलाई 2020 में पेंटागन द्वारा पोस्ट बनाने के बाद भारतीय मूल के अमेरिकी डॉ. राज अय्यर ने अमेरिकी सेना के पहले मुख्य सूचना अधिकारी का पदभार संभाला है। डॉ. राज अय्यर अमेरिकी रक्षा विभाग के सर्वोच्च रैंकिंग वाले भारतीय-अमेरिकी नागरिकों में से एक हैं।
• डॉ. अय्यर ने इलेक्ट्रिकल इंजीनियरिंग में पीएचडी की हैं और वे सेना के सचिव के प्रधान सलाहकार के रूप में सेवारत थे और सूचना प्रबंधन/सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी (आईटी) से संबंधित मामलों में सचिव का प्रतिनिधित्व करते थे। CIO की पोस्ट एक तीन स्टार जनरल के बराबर पद है।

भारत संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद की 3 प्रमुख समितियों की करेगा अध्यक्षता

• संयुक्त राष्ट्र में भारत के स्थायी प्रतिनिधि टी एस तिरुमूर्ति ने घोषणा की है कि भारत अपने कार्यकाल के दौरान शक्तिशाली 15-राष्ट्र संयुक्त राष्ट्र के गैर-स्थायी सदस्य के रूप में संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद (यूएनएससी) की तीन प्रमुख समितियों की अध्यक्षता करेगा।

तीन अति महत्वपूर्ण समितियों में शामिल हैं:

1. Taliban Sanctions Committee/तालिबान प्रतिबंध समिति
2. Counter-Terrorism Committee/आतंकवाद-रोधी समिति
3. Libyan Sanctions Committee/लीबिया प्रतिबंध समिति

• इन समितियों में से भारत 2022 में यूएनएससी की आतंकवाद रोधी समिति की अध्यक्षता करेगा, जिस वर्ष भारत की स्वतंत्रता की 75 वीं वर्षगांठ भी है। भारत ने 01 जनवरी, 2021 से UNSC में अपना दो साल का कार्यकाल शुरू किया। यह आठवीं बार है जब देश गैर-स्थायी सदस्य के रूप में UNSC में शामिल हुआ है। 2021 में, भारत के अतिरिक्त, नॉर्वे, केन्या, आयरलैंड और मैक्सिको परिषद में गैर-स्थायी सदस्यों के रूप में शामिल हुए।

 पीएम मोदी ने देश को समर्पित किया वेस्टर्न डेडिकेटेड फ्रेट कॉरिडोर का नया सेक्शन

• प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने वेस्टर्न डेडिकेटेड फ्रेट कॉरिडोर (WDFC) के 306 किलोमीटर लंबे न्यू रेवाड़ी-न्यू मदार सेक्शन को राष्ट्र को समर्पित किया है। पीएम मोदी ने वीडियो-कॉन्फ्रेंसिंग के माध्यम से दुनिया के पहले डबल-स्टैक लॉन्ग-हॉल 1.5 किमी लंबी कंटेनर ट्रेन को न्यू अटेली-न्यू किशनगढ़ से इलेक्ट्रिक ट्रैक्शन द्वारा हरी झंडी दिखाकर रवाना किया।
• WDFC का नया रेवाड़ी-नया मदार सेक्शन हरियाणा में स्थित है, जो महेंद्रगढ़ और रेवाड़ी जिलों में लगभग 79 किमी लंबा और राजस्थान में जयपुर, अजमेर, सीकर, नागौर और अलवर जिलों में लगभग 227 किमी लंबा है।

कर्नाटक सरकार ने मिट्टी और पानी की टेस्टिंग करने के लिए कृषि संजीवनी वैन को दिखाई हरी झंडी

• कर्नाटक के मुख्यमंत्री बी.एस. येदियुरप्पा ने बेंगलुरु में 40 कृषि संजीवनी वैन को हरी झंडी दिखाई। इस कृषि कार्यक्रम को शुरू करने के लिए राष्ट्रीय कृषि विकास योजना के तहत केंद्रीय सहायता से राज्य के कृषि विभाग द्वारा इन वैन को लॉन्च किया गया है।
• कृषि क्षेत्रों में प्रयोगशालाओं को ले जाने के लिए, स्थितियों का अध्ययन करना और कीट नियंत्रण, मृदा की उर्वरता, मातम और उपयुक्त फसलों के बारे में मौजूदा परिस्थितियों में किसानों की जरूरतों को संबोधित करना ताकि किसानों को उनकी कृषि तकनीकों के लिए सहायता मिले सके।
• फसलों को उगाने वाली मिट्टी, पानी और कीटों के आधार पर, कृषि विभाग के कर्मी उपाय सुझा सकते हैं।

पाकिस्तान ने "फतह -1" रॉकेट सिस्टम का किया सफल परीक्षण

• पाकिस्तानी सेना ने सफलतापूर्वक स्वदेशी रूप से विकसित गाइडेड मल्टी लॉन्च रॉकेट सिस्टम, फतह -1 का सफल उड़ान परीक्षण पूरा किया है। फतह -1 हथियार प्रणाली "दुश्मन के इलाके" पारंपरिक आयुध ले जाने में सक्षम है।
• सेना के महानिदेशक, मीडिया विंग, मेजर जनरल बाबर इफ्तिखार के अनुसार, फतह -1 हथियार प्रणाली 140 किमी की सीमा तक लक्ष्य को मार सकती है।

वयोवृद्ध प्रोफेसर चित्रा घोष का निधन

• नेताजी सुभाष चंद्र बोस की भतीजी और प्रख्यात शिक्षाविद चित्रा घोष का निधन हो गया। उन्होंने शिक्षाविदों और सामुदायिक सेवाओं में अग्रणी योगदान दिया और युवाओं को पढ़ाने और प्रेरित करने के लिए अपना जीवन समर्पित कर दिया।
• प्रोफेसर बोस कोलकाता के लेडी ब्रेबॉर्न कॉलेज में राजनीति विज्ञान विभाग की पूर्व प्रमुख थी।

 नियुक्ति एवं इस्‍तीफे

जेके माहेश्वरी ने सिक्किम उच्च न्यायालय के मुख्य न्यायाधीश के रूप में ली शपथ

• जस्टिस जितेंद्र कुमार माहेश्वरी ने सिक्किम उच्च न्यायालय के नए मुख्य न्यायाधीश के रूप में शपथ ग्रहण की है। सिक्किम के राज्यपाल गंगा प्रसाद ने राजभवन में आयोजित एक समारोह के दौरान न्यायमूर्ति माहेश्वरी को पद की शपथ दिलाई।
• इनकी नियुक्ति सिक्किम उच्च न्यायालय के मुख्य न्यायाधीश अरूप कुमार गोस्वामी का ट्रान्सफर आंध्र प्रदेश उच्च न्यायालय के मुख्य न्यायाधीश के रूप में नियुक्ति के चलते किया गया है।

जस्टिस सुधांशु धूलिया को नियुक्त किया गया गुवाहाटी उच्च न्यायालय का मुख्य न्यायाधीश

• जस्टिस सुधांशु धूलिया को गुवाहाटी उच्च न्यायालय का मुख्य न्यायाधीश नियुक्त किया गया है, उनकी नियुक्ति की पुष्टि कानून और न्याय मंत्रालय द्वारा की गई। राष्ट्रपति, राम नाथ कोविंद ने भारत के संविधान के अनुच्छेद 217 के खंड (1) द्वारा प्रदत्त शक्ति के जरिए उत्तराखंड उच्च न्यायालय के न्यायाधीश सुधांशु धूलिया को प्रोन्नत कर गुवाहाटी उच्च न्यायालय का नया मुख्य न्यायाधीश बनाया गया है।
• जस्टिस सुधांशु धूलिया ने 7 जुलाई, 1986 को एक वकील के रूप में अपना करियर शुरू किया था और सिविल, संवैधानिक, सेवा और श्रम मामलों में इलाहाबाद और उत्तराखंड उच्च न्यायालयों में अभ्यास किया था और सेवा और संवैधानिक मामलों में विशेषज्ञता प्राप्त की है। उन्हें 1 नवंबर, 2008 को उत्तराखंड उच्च न्यायालय का स्थायी न्यायाधीश नियुक्त किया गया था।

आरबीआई अधिकारी गिरिधरन ने लिखा 'राइट अंडर अवर नोज' शीर्षक उपन्यास

• आरबीआई के महाप्रबंधक आर गिरिधरन ने अपनी पहली पुस्तक '''Right Under our Nose'' लिखी है। 'राइट अंडर योर नोज' में, एक हत्यारा एक वैज्ञानिकों की पुलिस की नाक के नीचे से ह्त्या कर देता है और फोरेंसिक को पीछे छोड़ देता है।
• इस स्थिति से निपटने के लिए मुख्यमंत्री, विजय को फोन करते है, जिसे एक सप्ताह में संसद के शुरू होने से पहले मामले को सुलझाने के लिए एक असंभव समय सीमा दी गई।

IHS मार्किट ने वित्त वर्ष 2021-22 में भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था के 8.9 प्रतिशत की दर से बढ़ने का जताया अनुमान

• लंदन स्थित वित्तीय सेवा कंपनी IHS मार्किट ने अप्रैल 2021 से शुरू होने वाले वित्त वर्ष 2021-22 में भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था में 8.9 प्रतिशत की दर से वृद्धि का अनुमान जताया है।
•  यह अनुमान भारत द्वारा 2020 की आखिरी तिमाही में घरेलू आर्थिक गतिविधियों में आए महत्वपूर्ण सुधार पर आधारित है।

Indian-American Raj Iyer becomes U.S. Army’s first CIO

• Indian-American Dr Raj Iyer has taken over as the first Chief Information Officer of the US Army, after the Pentagon created the position in July 2020. Dr Raj Iyer is one of the highest-ranking Indian-American civilians in the US Department of Defence.
• Dr Iyer holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering had been serving as the Principal Advisor to the Secretary of the Army and directs representation of the secretary in matters relating to information management/information technology (IT). The position of CIO is equivalent to a three-star General.

 NATIONAL

India to chair 3 key subsidiary bodies of UN Security Council

• The Permanent Representative of India to the UN, T S Tirumurti has announced that India has been asked to chair three important committees of the UN Security Council (UNSC), during its tenure as a non-permanent member of the powerful 15-nation UN body.

The three highly significant committees include:

1. Taliban Sanctions Committee
2. Counter-Terrorism Committee
3. Libyan Sanctions Committee

• Among these, India will chair the Counter-Terrorism Committee of UNSC in 2022, which coincides with the 75th anniversary of India’s independence. India began its two-year term at UNSC from January 01, 2021. It is the eighth time that the country has joined UNSC as the non-permanent member. In 2021, along with India, Norway, Kenya, Ireland and Mexico joined as non-permanent members in the Council.

PM Modi dedicates new Section of Western Dedicated Freight Corridor

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi has dedicated the 306-km New Rewari-New Madar section of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) to the nation. Through video-conferencing, Modi also flagged off the world’s first double-stack long-haul 1.5-km-long container train hauled by electric traction from New Ateli-New Kishangarh.
• The New Rewari-New Madar section of the WDFC is situated in Haryana, approximately 79 km in Mahendragarh and Rewari districts and Rajasthan approximately 227 km in Jaipur, Ajmer, Sikar, Nagaur, and Alwar districts.

Karnataka Government launches Krishi Sanjeevani Vans to test soil, water

• The Chief Minister of Karnataka, B.S. Yediyurappa flagged off 40 Krishi Sanjeevani vans in Bengaluru. These vans have been launched by the state Agriculture Department with Central assistance under National Krishi Vikas Yojana to take up this novel programme.
• To take labs to the agriculture fields, study the conditions and address the needs of the farmers about pest control, the fertility of the soil, weeds and suitable crops in the existing conditions so that farmers get support for their farming techniques.
• Depending on the soil, water and pests inflicting the crops, the Agriculture Department personnel can suggest remedies.

Pakistan successfully test fires “Fatah-1” Rocket System

• The Pakistan Army successfully conducted the test flight of an indigenously developed Guided Multi Launch Rocket System, Fatah-1. The Fatah-1 weapon system is capable of precisely delivering conventional warheads deep into “enemy territory.”
• According to Director General of Army, Media Wing, Major General Babar Iftikhar, Fatah-1 weapon system can hit targets up to a range of 140 km.

Veteran Professor Chitra Ghosh passes away

• Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s niece and eminent academician Chitra Ghosh has passed away. She made pioneering contributions to academics and community services and dedicated her life in serving the people, teaching & inspiring the youth.
• Professor Bose was the former head of the political science department at Lady Brabourne College in Kolkata.

JK Maheshwari sworn in as Chief Justice of Sikkim High Court

• Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari was sworn in as the new Chief Justice of Sikkim High Court. Governor Ganga Prasad administered the oath of office to Justice Maheshwari during a function held in Raj Bhavan.
• Chief Justice Arup Kumar Goswami of the Sikkim High Court has now been transferred for appointment as the Andhra Pradesh High Court’s Chief Justice.

Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia appointed as Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court

• Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia appointed as Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court informed the Ministry of Law and Justice. The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind in the exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, appointed Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia, Judge of the Uttarakhand High Court, as Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court.
• Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia, was enrolled as an Advocate on July 7, 1986, and practised in the Allahabad and Uttarakhand High Courts in Civil, Constitutional, Service, and Labour matters and has specialized in Service and Constitutional matters. He was appointed as a permanent judge of the Uttarakhand High Court on November 1, 2008.

• A general manager at RBI, R Giridharan has authored his debut book ”Right Under our Nose”. In ”Right Under Your Nose”, a murderer eliminates scientists right under the nose of the police and leaves forensics baffled.
• In response, the chief minister calls upon Vijay, who is given an impossible deadline to solve the case before Parliament resumes in a week.

IHS Markit: Indian economy to rebound with 8.9% growth in FY22

• London-based financial services company IHS Markit has projected the Indian economy to rebound by 8.9 per cent in the fiscal year 2021-22, beginning April 2021.
• This upward estimate is based on the backdrop of the significant improvement in domestic economic activity in the fourth quarter of 2020 by India.
