पुष्कर सिंह धामी होंगे उत्तराखंड के अगले मुख्यमंत्री

• पुष्कर सिंह धामी उत्तराखंड के अगले मुख्यमंत्री होंगे। वह उत्तराखंड के सबसे युवा मुख्यमंत्री होंगे। 45 वर्षीय पुष्कर सिंह धामी, उधम सिंह नगर जिले के खटीमा निर्वाचन क्षेत्र से विधायक हैं। वह तीरथ सिंह रावत की जगह लेंगे, जिन्होंने पद से इस्तीफा दे दिया था। उन्हें देहरादून में विधायक दल की बैठक के दौरान राज्य के नेताओं द्वारा चुना गया था।
• 16 सितंबर, 1975 को उत्तराखंड के पिथौरागढ़ में जन्मे पुष्कर सिंह धामी, खटीमा निर्वाचन क्षेत्र से दो बार के विधायक हैं। उन्होंने मानव संसाधन प्रबंधन और औद्योगिक संबंधों में स्नातकोत्तर डिग्री और सामाजिक जीवन में LLB किया है।
• पुष्कर सिंह धामी राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ (RSS) से भी जुड़े थे और उन्होंने उत्तराखंड में भारतीय जनता युवा मोर्चा के प्रदेश अध्यक्ष के रूप में भी कार्य किया।
• पुष्कर सिंह धामी ने 2002 में उत्तराखंड के पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री भगत सिंह कोश्यारी के लिए विशेष कर्तव्य अधिकारी के रूप में कार्य किया।

जम्मू-कश्मीर ने खत्म की 149 वर्ष पुरानी दरबार चाल परंपरा

• एलजी मनोज सिन्हा ने ग्रीष्मकालीन राजधानी श्रीनगर और शीतकालीन राजधानी जम्मू के बीच कार्यालयों को स्थानांतरित करने की 149 वर्ष पुरानी द्विवार्षिक परंपरा को औपचारिक रूप से समाप्त कर दिया। प्रशासन ने कर्मचारियों को जम्मू और श्रीनगर में तीन सप्ताह में 'दरबार मूव' से संबंधित आवास खाली करने का नोटिस दिया है। प्रशासन ने जम्मू और श्रीनगर में "दरबार मूव" कर्मचारियों के आवासीय सुविधा को रद्द कर दिया, जिसका अर्थ है कि कर्मचारी या तो जम्मू या कश्मीर में तैनात रहेंगे।
• जम्मू और श्रीनगर में मुख्यालय वाले सिविल सचिवालयों में काम करने वाले लगभग 8000-9000 कर्मचारी प्रतिवर्ष दो बार फाइलों के साथ मूव करते थे। जबकि श्रीनगर ग्रीष्मकालीन राजधानी के रूप में कार्य करता था, जम्मू शीतकालीन राजधानी थी।
• माना जाता है कि डोगरा सम्राट महाराजा गुलाब सिंह ने 1872 में राजधानी को स्थानांतरित करने की परंपरा शुरू की थी। परंपरा को 1947 के बाद जम्मू-कश्मीर के राजनीतिक वर्ग द्वारा जारी रखा गया था, क्योंकि यह एक प्रमुख पुल के रूप में काम करता था तथा कश्मीर और जम्मू क्षेत्र के दो विविध भाषाई और सांस्कृतिक समूहों के बीच बातचीत के लिए एक स्थान था।

मरियप्पन थंगावेलु को टोक्यो पैरालिंपिक के लिए ध्वजवाहक के रूप में नामित किया गया

• शीर्ष पैरा हाई-जम्पर मरियप्पन थंगावेलु को 24 अगस्त से शुरू होने वाले टोक्यो पैरालिंपिक में भारतीय दल का ध्वजवाहक नामित किया गया था। थंगावेलु, जो टोक्यो में 24 अगस्त से 5 सितंबर के शोपीस के दौरान 2016 रियो पैरालिंपिक में जीते गए टी -42 स्वर्ण का बचाव कर रहे हैं, को राष्ट्रीय निकाय की कार्यकारी समिति द्वारा सम्मान के लिए चुना गया था।
• 25 वर्षीय थंगावेलु, जिन्हें पिछले वर्ष देश के सर्वोच्च खेल पुरस्कार, खेल रत्न से सम्मानित किया गया था, टोक्यो पैरालिंपिक के लिए चयन समिति द्वारा चुने गए 24 पैरा-एथलीटों में से एक है। तमिलनाडु के सलेम जिले के रहने वाले थंगावेलु को पांच वर्ष की उम्र में स्थायी विकलांगता का सामना करना पड़ा, जब एक बस ने उनके दाहिने पैर को घुटने से नीचे कुचल दिया।

 भारतीय पहलवान सुमित मलिक पर डोपिंग के लिए दो वर्ष का प्रतिबंध

• भारतीय पहलवान सुमित मलिक को खेल की विश्व शासी निकाय UWW द्वारा दो वर्ष के लिए प्रतिबंधित कर दिया गया था क्योंकि उनका B नमूना भी प्रतिबंधित उत्तेजक के लिए सकारात्मक था।
• 28 वर्षीय मलिक के पास यह तय करने के लिए एक सप्ताह का समय है कि वह मंजूरी को स्वीकार करेंगे या इसे चुनौती देंगे। सोफिया में विश्व ओलंपिक क्वालीफायर स्पर्धा के दौरान डोप परीक्षण में विफल रहने के कारण उन्हें पिछले महीने अस्थायी निलंबन दिया गया था, जहां उन्होंने 125 किलोग्राम वर्ग में टोक्यो खेलों के लिए क्वालीफाई किया था।

सतीश अग्निहोत्री NHSRCL के नए एमडी

• सतीश अग्निहोत्री ने नेशनल हाई-स्पीड रेल कॉर्पोरेशन लिमिटेड के प्रबंध निदेशक के रूप में कार्यभार ग्रहण किया है। उनके पास मेगा रेल इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर परियोजनाओं के कार्यान्वयन में 20 से अधिक वर्षों का अनुभव है। उन्होंने रेल विकास निगम लिमिटेड (RVNL) के अध्यक्ष और प्रबंध निदेशक के रूप में काम किया है, जो लगभग 9 वर्षों तक रेल मंत्रालय के तहत एक अनुसूची ‘A’ CPSE है।
• CMD/RVNL के रूप में उनके कार्यकाल के दौरान, RVNL ने 3000 किमी दोहरीकरण/तीसरी लाइन, 880 किमी मीटर गेज ट्रैक को ब्रॉड गेज में बदलने, 3000 किमी रेलवे विद्युतीकरण, 85 किमी नई लाइन, 6 कारखानों और कई महत्वपूर्ण पुलों सहित 7000 किमी की परियोजना लंबाई को पूरा किया। आंध्र प्रदेश में एक नई लाइन परियोजना में 25 महीने के रिकॉर्ड समय में 7 किमी लंबी सुरंग भी पूरी की गई।

नाथूराम गोडसे की जीवनी प्रकाशित करेंगे पैन मैकमिलन

• मुंबई के पत्रकार धवल कुलकर्णी द्वारा "नाथूराम गोडसे: द ट्रू स्टोरी ऑफ गांधी'स एसैसिन" शीर्षक वाली पुस्तक 2022 में पैन मैकमिलन इंडिया द्वारा प्रकाशित की जाएगी। महात्मा गांधी के कुख्यात हत्यारे नाथूराम गोडसेकी जीवनी, आधुनिक भारतीय इतिहास और समकालीन समाज और राजनीति के व्यापक संदर्भ में उस व्यक्ति और उसके सबसे परिभाषित कार्य को दर्शाती है।
• पुस्तक को नीलामी में पैन मैकमिलन इंडिया के संपादकीय प्रमुख तीस्ता गुहा सरकार द्वारा लेबिरिंथ साहित्यिक एजेंसी के संस्थापक अनीश चांडी से प्राप्त किया गया था। "यह पुस्तक एक गहरी-गोताखोरी होगी और गांधी की हत्या से पहले और बाद की घटनाओं की प्रलयकारी श्रृंखला में तल्लीन होगी।

बैंकिंग और अर्थव्यवस्था

आरबीआई ने पंजाब एंड सिंध बैंक पर लगाया 25 लाख रुपये का जुर्माना

• भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक ने 'बैंकों में साइबर सुरक्षा ढांचे' पर निर्देशों के कुछ प्रावधानों का पालन न करने के लिए पंजाब एंड सिंध बैंक पर 25 लाख रुपये का जुर्माना लगाया। केंद्रीय बैंक ने विवरण देते हुए कहा कि राज्य के स्वामित्व वाले बैंक ने 16 और 20 मई, 2020 को RBI को कुछ साइबर घटनाओं की सूचना दी थी। तदनुसार, केंद्रीय बैंक ने बैंक को कारण बताओ नोटिस जारी कर पूछा था कि RBI द्वारा जारी निर्देशों का पालन न करने के लिए जुर्माना क्यों नहीं लगाया जाना चाहिए।
• यह जुर्माना बैंकिंग विनियमन अधिनियम, 1949 की धारा 46 (4) (i) और 51 (1) के साथ पठित धारा 47 A (1) (c) के प्रावधानों के तहत RBI में निहित शक्तियों के प्रयोग में लगाया गया है।

डिजिटल बैंकिंग सेवाओं को सशक्त बनाने के लिए एक्सिस बैंक ने एडब्ल्यूएस के साथ समझौता किया

• एक्सिस बैंक ने देश के तीसरे सबसे बड़े निजी क्षेत्र के बैंक के डिजिटल परिवर्तन कार्यक्रम को सशक्त बनाने के लिए अमेज़ॅन वेब सर्विसेज (AWS) के साथ एक बहु-वर्षीय समझौता किया है। समझौते के हिस्से के रूप में, एक्सिस बैंक AWS की मदद से ग्राहकों को उन्नत बैंकिंग अनुभव लाने के लिए नई डिजिटल वित्तीय सेवाओं का एक पोर्टफोलियो तैयार करेगा, जिसमें ऑनलाइन खाते भी शामिल हैं जिन्हें 6 मिनट और तत्काल डिजिटल भुगतान में खोला जा सकता है। इससे बैंक को ग्राहकों की संतुष्टि में 35 प्रतिशत की वृद्धि और लागत में 24 प्रतिशत की कमी करने में मदद मिलेगी।
• आज तक, एक्सिस बैंक ने AWS पर 25 से अधिक मिशन-महत्वपूर्ण अनुप्रयोगों को तैनात किया है, जिसमें बाय नाउ पे लेटर उत्पाद और इसका समर्थन करने के लिए एक नई ऋण प्रबंधन प्रणाली, अकाउंट एग्रीगेटर, वीडियो-नो योर कस्टमर (V-KYC), और व्हाट्सएप बैंकिंग शामिल हैं।

Pushkar Singh Dhami will be the next chief minister of Uttarakhand

• Pushkar Singh Dhami will be the next chief minister of Uttarakhand. He will be the youngest CM of Uttarakhand. 45-year-old Pushkar Singh Dhami, an MLA from the Khatima constituency in Udham Singh Nagar district. He will replace Tirath Singh Rawat, who resigned from the post. He was elected by the state leaders during the legislature party meeting in Dehradun.
• Born on September 16, 1975, in Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh, Pushkar Singh Dhami is a two-time MLA from the Khatima constituency. He holds a Postgraduate degree in Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations and LLB in Social Life.
• Pushkar Singh Dhami was also associated with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and also served as the state president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha in Uttarakhand.
• Pushkar Singh Dhami served as the officer on special duty for former Uttarakhand chief minister Bhagat Singh Koshyari in 2002.

Jammu & Kashmir ends 149-year-old darbar move tradition

• The LG Manoj Sinha formally put an end to a 149-year-old biannual tradition of shifting offices between summer capital Srinagar and winter capital Jammu. The administration served notice to employees to vacate the ‘Darbar Move’ related accommodations in three weeks in Jammu and Srinagar. Administration cancelled the residential accommodation of “darbar move” employees in Jammu and Srinagar, implying the employees will remain stationed in either Jammu or Kashmir.
• Around 8000-9000 employees working in Civil Secretariats, with headquarters in Jammu and Srinagar, would move along with files twice every year. While Srinagar served as the summer capital, Jammu was the winter capital.
• Dogra monarch Maharaja Gulab Singh is believed to have started the tradition of shifting the capital in 1872. The tradition was continued after 1947 by J&K’s political class, as it acted as a major bridge and a space for interaction between two diverse linguistic and cultural groups of Kashmir and Jammu regions.

Mariyappan Thangavelu named as a flag-bearer for Tokyo Paralympics

• Top para high-jumper Mariyappan Thangavelu was named the flag-bearer of the Indian contingent in the Tokyo Paralympics, which begins on August 24. Thangavelu, who is defending the T-42 gold he had won in the 2016 Rio Paralympics during the August 24 to September 5 showpiece in Tokyo, was picked for the honour by the executive committee of the national body.
• The 25-year-old Thangavelu, who was conferred with the Khel Ratna, the country’s highest sporting award, last year is one of the 24 para-athletes picked by the selection committee for the Tokyo Paralympics. Thangavelu, who hails from Salem district in Tamil Nadu, suffered a permanent disability at the age of five when a bus crushed his right leg below the knee.

Indian Wrestler Sumit Malik gets two-year ban for doping

• Indian wrestler Sumit Malik was banned for two years by the sport’s world governing body UWW after his B sample also returned positive for a prohibited stimulant.
• The 28-year-old has one week to decide if he would accept the sanction or challenge it. He was handed a provisional suspension last month for failing a dope test during the World Olympic Qualifier event in Sofia, where he had qualified for the Tokyo Games in the 125 kg category.

• Satish Agnihotri has taken over charge as Managing Director, National High-Speed Rail Corporation Ltd. He comes with more than 20 years of experience in the implementation of mega rail infrastructure projects. He has worked as Chairman & Managing Director, Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), a schedule ‘A’ CPSE under the Ministry of Railways for close to 9 years.
• During his tenure as CMD/RVNL, RVNL completed 7000 km of project length including 3000 km doubling/3rd line, 880 km conversion of metre gauge track to broad gauge, 3000 km railway electrification, 85 km new line, 6 factories and many important bridges. A 7 km long tunnel was also completed in a record time of 25 months in a new line project in Andhra Pradesh.

Pan Macmillan to publish Nathuram Godse’s biography

• The book titled “Nathuram Godse: The True Story of Gandhi’s Assassin” by Mumbai-based journalist Dhaval Kulkarni will be published by Pan Macmillan India in 2022. A biography of Nathuram Godse, Mahatma Gandhi’s infamous assassin, situates the man and his most defining act in the larger context of modern Indian history and contemporary society and politics.
• The book was acquired at auction by Teesta Guha Sarkar, editorial head at Pan Macmillan India, from Anish Chandy, founder of Labyrinth literary agency. “The book will be a deep-dive account and delve into the cataclysmic chain of events both before and after Gandhi’s murder.

BANKING AND ECONOMY

RBI imposes Rs 25 lakh penalty on Punjab & Sind Bank

• The Reserve Bank of India imposed a penalty of Rs 25 lakh on Punjab and Sind Bank for non-compliance with certain provisions of directions on ‘Cyber Security Framework in Banks. The state-owned bank had reported a few cyber incidents to the RBI on May 16 and 20, 2020, the central bank said while giving details. Accordingly, the central bank had issued a show-cause notice to the bank asking it why a penalty should not be imposed for non-compliance with the directions issued by RBI.
• This penalty has been imposed in the exercise of powers vested in RBI under the provisions of section 47 A (1) (c) read with sections 46 (4) (i) and 51 (1) of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949.

Axis Bank tie-up with AWS for powering digital banking services

• Axis Bank has inked a multi-year deal with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to power the digital transformation programme of the country’s third-largest private sector bank. As part of the agreement, Axis Bank with help of AWS will build a portfolio of new digital financial services to bring advanced banking experiences to customers, including online accounts that can be opened in 6 min & instant digital payment. This will help the bank increase customer satisfaction by 35 per cent and lower costs by 24 per cent.
• To date, Axis Bank has deployed over 25 mission-critical applications on AWS, including a Buy Now Pay Later product and a new loan management system to support it, Account Aggregator, Video-Know Your Customer (V-KYC), and WhatsApp Banking.
