वैदेही डोंगरे ने मिस इंडिया यूएसए 2021 का ताज जीता

• मिशिगन की 25 वर्षीय लड़की वैदेही डोंगरे को सौंदर्य प्रतियोगिता में मिस इंडिया यूएसए 2021 का ताज पहनाया गया है। जॉर्जिया की अर्शी लालानी को फर्स्ट रनर अप और नॉर्थ कैरोलिना की मीरा कसारी को सेकेंड रनर अप घोषित किया गया। डोंगरे, जिन्होंने अंतरराष्ट्रीय अध्ययन में पढ़ाई की है, ने कथक से भारतीय शास्त्रीय नृत्य का एक निर्दोष प्रदर्शन देने के लिए प्रतियोगिता में 'मिस टैलेंटेड' का खिताब जीता।
• पूर्व मिस वर्ल्ड डायना हेडन इस प्रतियोगिता की मुख्य अतिथि और मुख्य न्यायाधीश थीं। मिस इंडिया यूएसए, मिसेज इंडिया यूएसए और मिस टीन इंडिया यूएसए (USA) - तीन अलग-अलग पेजेंट में 30 राज्यों के 61 प्रतियोगी भाग ले रहे थे। तीनों श्रेणियों के विजेताओं को विश्वव्यापी प्रतियोगिताओं में भाग लेने के लिए मुंबई, भारत की यात्रा करने के लिए मानार्थ टिकट मिलते हैं।

भारतीय मिर्च, भूत जोलोकिया का नागालैंड से लंदन को निर्यात किया गया

• नागालैंड से 'राजा मिर्चा' की एक खेप, जिसे किंग मिर्च या भूत जोलोकिया भी कहा जाता है, पहली बार लंदन में निर्यात की गई है।
• स्कोविल हीट यूनिट्स के आधार पर विश्‍व की सबसे तीखी मिर्च की लिस्ट में नागा किंग चिली लगातार टॉप फाइव पर है। इसे 2008 में GI टैग मिला था। इसे 2007 में गिनीज वर्ल्ड रिकॉर्ड्स द्वारा विश्‍व की सबसे तीखी मिर्ची घोषित किया गया था।

केरल पुलिस ने शुरू की 'पिंक प्रोटेक्शन' परियोजना

• केरल पुलिस ने सार्वजनिक, निजी और डिजिटल स्थानों में महिलाओं की सुरक्षा के लिए पिंक प्रोटेक्शन प्रोजेक्ट नामक एक नई पहल शुरू की।पिंक प्रोटेक्शन प्रोजेक्ट का उद्देश्य सार्वजनिक स्थानों पर दहेज से संबंधित मुद्दों, साइबर-धमकाने और अपमान को रोकना है। इसके 10 घटक हैं, जिनमें से एक मौजूदा पिंक पुलिस पेट्रोल सिस्टम को सक्रिय कर रहा है, जिसका नाम पिंक जनमैत्री बीट है।
• वे पंचायत सदस्यों, पड़ोसियों और अन्य स्थानीय लोगों से जानकारी एकत्र करेंगे और इसे आगे की कार्रवाई के लिए स्टेशन हाउस अधिकारियों को सौंपेंगे।
• पिंक बीट प्रणाली, जिसमें विशेष रूप से प्रशिक्षित महिला पुलिस अधिकारियों को तैनात किया गया है, कर्नाटक राज्य सड़क परिवहन निगम (KSRTC) और निजी बसों और स्कूलों, कॉलेजों और बस स्टॉप सहित अन्य सार्वजनिक स्थानों के सामने मौजूद रहेगी।
• गतिविधियों के समन्वय के लिए सभी 14 जिलों में पिंक नियंत्रण कक्ष स्थापित किए गए हैं।

IIT हैदराबाद द्वारा विकसित टेस्ट किट "COVIHOME"

• भारत की पहली रैपिड इलेक्ट्रॉनिक कोविड -19 आरएनए टेस्ट किट (C-19-19 RNA Test kit) जो घर पर स्व-परीक्षण की अनुमति देती है, जिसे 'कोविहोम कहा जाता है, को भारतीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान हैदराबाद के एक शोध समूह द्वारा विकसित किया गया है। किट को सेंटर फॉर सेल्युलर एंड मॉलिक्यूलर बायोलॉजी द्वारा मान्य किया गया है और इसका उपयोग घर पर आराम से कोविड -19 ट्रेस (C-19-19 trace) की जांच के लिए किया जा सकता है।
• यह परीक्षण किट रोगसूचक और बिना लक्षण वाले दोनों रोगियों के लिए 30 मिनट के भीतर परिणाम दे सकती है।
• इस परीक्षण किट का प्रमुख लाभ यह है कि इसमें रिवर्स ट्रांसक्रिप्शन पॉलीमरेज़ चेन रिएक्शन (RT-PCR), एक विशेषज्ञ मानव संसाधन और आरएनए के निष्कर्षण के लिए बीएसएल 2 प्रयोगशाला (BSL 2 lab) सुविधा की आवश्यकता नहीं होती है, इसमें विशेषज्ञ पर्यवेक्षण के बिना घर पर परीक्षण लेने की क्षमता होती है।

सरकार ने ओबीसी के लिए 27% आरक्षण की घोषणा की

• केंद्र ने अखिल भारतीय कोटा (एआईक्यू) योजना के तहत ओबीसी के लिए 27% आरक्षण और आर्थिक रूप से कमजोर वर्गों (ईडब्ल्यूएस) के छात्रों के लिए स्नातक और स्नातकोत्तर चिकित्सा और दंत चिकित्सा पाठ्यक्रमों के लिए 10% कोटा की घोषणा की है। एआईक्यू योजना के तहत, सरकारी मेडिकल और डेंटल कॉलेजों में यूजी स्तर पर 15% सीटों और पीजी स्तर पर 50% सीटों को अधिवास मुक्त रखा जाता है, जिसके खिलाफ अन्य राज्यों के छात्रों को प्रवेश की पेशकश की जाती है, जबकि राज्य के भीतर के छात्रों के लिए बाकी सीटों को रखा जाता है।
• यह हमारे हजारों युवाओं को प्रतिवर्ष बेहतर अवसर प्राप्त करने और हमारे देश में सामाजिक न्याय का एक नया प्रतिमान बनाने में बहुत मदद करेगा। सरकार के एक बयान में कहा गया है कि इस फैसले से एमबीबीएस में लगभग 1500 ओबीसी छात्रों और पीजी में 2500 ओबीसी छात्रों को फायदा होगा, जबकि एमबीबीएस में लगभग 550 ईडब्ल्यूएस छात्रों और पीजी मेडिसिन में लगभग 1000 ईडब्ल्यूएस छात्रों को भी फायदा होगा।

कोलियर्स ने रमेश नायर को भारत का नया सीईओ नियुक्त किया

• संपत्ति सलाहकार कोलियर्स ने रमेश नायर को भारत के लिए मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी (CEO) और एशिया के लिए प्रबंध निदेशक, बाजार विकास नियुक्त किया है। नायर का अनुभव और नेतृत्व कौशल क्षेत्र और विश्‍व भर में अपने ग्राहकों के लिए विशेष रूप से प्रासंगिक होगा क्योंकि वे C-19 के बाद की अर्थव्यवस्था में अवसर तलाश रहे हैं।
• नायर जेएलएल इंडिया से कोलियर्स में शामिल हुए, जहां उन्होंने सीईओ और कंट्री हेड का पद संभाला, जिसमें 12,000 से अधिक लोग शामिल हुए। मुंबई में रहने वाले रमेश कारोबार का नेतृत्व करने के लिए भारत में कोलियर्स के अध्यक्ष और प्रबंध निदेशक संकी प्रसाद के साथ साझेदारी करेंगे।

व्यक्तियों की तस्करी के खिलाफ विश्व दिवस 2021: 30 जुलाई

• संयुक्त राष्ट्र प्रतिवर्ष 30 जुलाई को व्यक्तियों की तस्करी के खिलाफ विश्व दिवस के रूप में मनाता है। 2013 में, महासभा ने मानव तस्करी के शिकार लोगों की स्थिति के बारे में जागरूकता बढ़ाने और उनके अधिकारों के प्रचार और संरक्षण के लिए 30 जुलाई को व्यक्तियों की तस्करी के खिलाफ विश्व दिवस के रूप में नामित किया।
• व्यक्तियों की तस्करी के खिलाफ विश्व दिवस के लिए 2021 की थीम पीड़ितों की आवाजें आगे बढ़ेंगी। इस वर्ष की थीम मानव तस्करी के शिकार लोगों को अभियान के केंद्र में रखती है और मानव तस्करी से बचे लोगों से सुनने और सीखने के महत्व को उजागर करेगी।

BIAL ने 'एयरपोर्ट इन ए बॉक्स' के लिए IBM के साथ करार किया

• बैंगलोर इंटरनेशनल एयरपोर्ट लिमिटेड (BIAL) ने 'एयरपोर्ट इन ए बॉक्स' प्लेटफॉर्म स्थापित करने के लिए आईबीएम कंपनी के साथ दस वर्ष की साझेदारी पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं। साझेदारी को बैंगलोर इंटरनेशनल एयरपोर्ट लिमिटेड को अपनी उत्पादकता में सुधार करने, अपनी सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी सेवाओं को स्वचालित करने, यात्री यातायात में भविष्य के विकास को संभालने और लागत कम करने के लिए परिचालन लचीलापन बढ़ाने में मदद करने के लिए डिज़ाइन किया गया है।
• एयरपोर्ट ऑपरेटर ने आईबीएम ग्लोबल बिजनेस सर्विसेज, आईबीएम हाइब्रिड क्लाउड क्षमताओं और नई, स्वतंत्र कंपनी किंड्रील को चुना, जो कि एक गतिशील डिलीवरी मॉडल के साथ अगली पीढ़ी के आर्किटेक्चर को डिजाइन और कार्यान्वित करने के लिए आईबीएम के मैनेज्ड इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर सर्विसेज बिजनेस को अलग करने के बाद बनाई जाएगी। नया प्लेटफॉर्म इसे कर्मचारियों की उत्पादकता में सुधार करने, आईटी परिसंपत्तियों के उपयोग को अपग्रेड करने, सुव्यवस्थित इन्वेंट्री नियंत्रण के माध्यम से लागत कम करने और घटना प्रबंधन में सुधार करने में सक्षम बनाएगा।

Vaidehi Dongre crowned Miss India USA 2021

• Vaidehi Dongre, a 25-year-old girl from Michigan, has been crowned Miss India USA 2021 at the beauty pageant. Arshi Lalani from Georgia was declared the first runner up and North Carolina’s Mira Kasari was declared the second runner up. Dongre, who has majored in international studies, won the ‘Miss Talented’ title in the pageant for giving a flawless performance of Indian classical dance from Kathak.
• Former Miss World Diana Hayden was the chief guest and chief judge for the pageant. There were 61 contestants from 30 states participating in three different pageants – Miss India USA, Mrs India USA and Miss Teen India USA. The winners of all three categories get complimentary tickets to travel to Mumbai, India to take part in worldwide pageants.

Indian chillies, Bhoot Jolokia from Nagaland exported to London

• A consignment of ‘Raja Mircha’, also referred to as King Chilli or Bhoot Jolokia, from Nagaland, has been exported to London for the first time.
• Naga king chilli is constantly on the top five in the list of the world’s hottest chillies based on the Scoville Heat Units. It got a GI tag in 2008. It was declared the hottest chilli pepper in the world by Guinness World Records in 2007.

Kerala police launched ‘Pink Protection’ project

• The Kerala Police launched a new initiative called the Pink Protection project for the protection of women in public, private and digital spaces. The Pink Protection project aims to prevent dowry-related issues, cyber-bullying & humiliation in public places. It has 10 components, one of which is activating the existing Pink Police Patrol system, named Pink Janamaithri Beat.
• They will collect information from panchayat members, neighbours and other locals and hand it over to the Station House Officers for further action.
• The Pink Beat system, in which specially trained women police officers have been deployed, will be present at Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) and private buses and in front of schools, colleges and other public places including bus stops.
• Pink control rooms have been set up in all 14 districts to coordinate the activities.

Test Kit “COVIHOME” developed by IIT Hyderabad

• India’s first Rapid electronic C-19 RNA Test kit that allows self-testing at home called ‘COVIHOME’ has been developed by a research group at the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad. The kit has been validated by the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology and can be used to check for C-19 trace at the comfort of home.
• This test kit can produce results within 30 minutes for both symptomatic and asymptomatic patients.
• The major benefit of this testing kit is that it does not require RT-PCR (Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction), an expert human resource, and a BSL 2 lab facility for the extraction of RNA, so it has the potential for one to take the test at home without expert supervision.

Government announced 27% reservation for OBCs

• The centre has announced 27% reservation for OBCs and a 10% quota for students from the economically weaker sections (EWS) for undergraduate and postgraduate medical and dental courses under the All-India Quota (AIQ) scheme. Under the AIQ scheme, 15% of seats at the UG level and 50% seats at the PG level are kept domicile free in government medical and dental colleges against which students from other states to are offered admission while the rest of the seats are kept only for students from within the state.
• This will immensely help thousands of our youth every year get better opportunities and create a new paradigm of social justice in our country. A statement by the government said that the decision would benefit nearly 1500 OBC students in MBBS and 2500 OBC students in PG while it will also impact around 550 EWS students in MBBS and around 1000 EWS students in PG medicine.

Colliers appointed Ramesh Nair as New CEO for India

• Property consultant Colliers has appointed Ramesh Nair as the chief executive officer (CEO) for India and managing director, market development, for Asia. Nair’s experience and leadership skills will be particularly relevant to its clients in the region and around the world as they seek opportunities in the post-C-19 economy.
• Nair joined Colliers from JLL India, where he held the position of CEO & country head, leading over 12,000 people. Based in Mumbai, Ramesh will partner with Sankey Prasad, chairman & managing director of Colliers in India, to lead the business.

World Day Against Trafficking in Persons 2021: 30th  July

• United Nations observes 30 July every year as World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. In 2013, the General Assembly designated July 30 as the World Day against Trafficking in Persons to raise awareness of the situation of victims of human trafficking and for the promotion and protection of their rights.
• The 2021 theme for World Day Against Trafficking in Persons is Victims’ Voices Lead the Way. This year’s theme puts victims of human trafficking at the centre of the campaign and will highlight the importance of listening to and learning from survivors of human trafficking.

BIAL signs a deal with IBM for ‘Airport in a Box’

• Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), has signed a ten-year partnership with the company IBM to set up the ‘Airport in a Box’ platform. The partnership is designed to help Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) improve its productivity, automate its information technology services, increase operational flexibility to handle future growth in passenger traffic and reduce costs.
• The airport operator chose IBM Global Business Services, IBM hybrid cloud capabilities and Kyndryl, the new, independent company that will be created following the separation of IBM’s Managed Infrastructure Services business, to design and implement a next-generation architecture with a dynamic delivery model. The new platform will enable it to improve employee productivity, upgrade utilisation of IT assets, reduce costs through streamlined inventory control and improve incident management.
