भारत के प्रधान मंत्री ने 38वीं प्रगति बैठक की अध्यक्षता की

• प्रधान मंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने केंद्र और राज्य सरकार की कई परियोजनाओं, शिकायतों और कार्यक्रमों की समीक्षा के लिए 38वीं प्रगति बैठक की अध्यक्षता की। PRAGATI का अर्थ, प्रो-एक्टिव गवर्नेंस और टाइम्ली इम्प्लिमेन्टेशन है। बैठक में करीब 50,000 करोड़ रुपये की कुल लागत वाली आठ परियोजनाओं की समीक्षा की गई। 297 परियोजनाओं की लागत 14.39 लाख करोड़ रुपये है जिसकी पिछली 37 प्रगति बैठकों में समीक्षा की जा चुकी है।
• प्रगति एक महत्वाकांक्षी बहुउद्देश्यीय और बहु-मोडल मंच है, जिसे मार्च 2015 में पीएम मोदी द्वारा एक अद्वितीय एकीकृत और संवादात्मक मंच के रूप में लॉन्च किया गया था, जिसका उद्देश्य आम आदमी की शिकायतों को दूर करना और साथ ही साथ भारत सरकार के महत्वपूर्ण कार्यक्रमों और परियोजनाओं के साथ राज्य सरकारों द्वारा ध्वजांकित परियोजनाओं की निगरानी और समीक्षा करना है।

 Amazon की भारत में वैश्विक कंप्यूटर विज्ञान शिक्षा पहल 

• ई-कॉमर्स प्रमुख अमेज़न इंडिया ने भारत में अपने ग्लोबल कंप्यूटर साइंस एजुकेशन प्रोग्राम, अमेज़न फ्यूचर इंजीनियर को लॉन्च करने की घोषणा की है। कार्यक्रम कम प्रतिनिधित्व और कम सेवा वाले समुदायों के छात्रों के लिए गुणवत्तापूर्ण कंप्यूटर विज्ञान शिक्षा और कैरियर के अवसरों तक पहुंच को सक्षम करेगा। अपने लॉन्च के पहले वर्ष में, अमेज़न का लक्ष्य भारत के सात राज्यों में 900 सरकारी और सहायता प्राप्त स्कूलों के 1 लाख से अधिक छात्रों को सीखने के अवसर प्रदान करना है।
• अमेज़न फ्यूचर इंजीनियर का लक्ष्य व्यक्तिगत रूप से, ऑनलाइन और मिश्रित शिक्षण प्रारूपों के माध्यम से छात्रों को कंप्यूटर विज्ञान शिक्षा के लिए प्रारंभिक प्रदर्शन और पहुंच प्रदान करके इस अंतर को दूर करना है।
• अमेज़न अपने वैश्विक ज्ञान भागीदार Code.org के साथ काम कर रहा है, जो एक वैश्विक गैर-लाभकारी संगठन है जो कंप्यूटर विज्ञान शिक्षा के लिए समर्पित है।

भारतीय हॉकी स्टार रूपिंदर पाल सिंह ने संन्यास की घोषणा की

• ओलंपिक कांस्य पदक विजेता भारतीय हॉकी खिलाड़ी रूपिंदर पाल सिंह ने युवा और प्रतिभाशाली खिलाड़ियों के लिए रास्ता बनाने के लिए अंतर्राष्ट्रीय हॉकी से संन्यास की घोषणा की है।
• 30 वर्षीय रूपिंदर ने अपने 13 वर्ष के हॉकी करियर में 223 मैचों में भारतीय हॉकी टीम का प्रतिनिधित्व किया। रूपिंदर जुलाई-अगस्त 2021 में आयोजित 2020 ग्रीष्मकालीन टोक्यो ओलंपिक में कांस्य पदक जीतने वाली भारतीय हॉकी टीम का हिस्सा थे।

 बॉक्सिंग के महान खिलाड़ी मैनी पैकियाओ ने संन्यास की घोषणा की

• 26 वर्ष और 72 पेशेवर मुकाबलों के बाद, पूर्व विश्व चैंपियन मैनी पैक्युओ ने पेशेवर मुक्केबाजी से संन्यास की घोषणा की। उन्होंने 1995 में 16 वर्ष की उम्र में पेशेवर शुरुआत की। वह पांच अलग-अलग भार वर्गों में लाइनल चैंपियनशिप जीतने वाले पहले मुक्केबाज बने और चार अलग-अलग दशकों में विश्व चैंपियनशिप रखने वाले एकमात्र मुक्केबाज हैं।
• उन्होंने हाल ही में 40 वर्ष की उम्र में 2019 तक वेल्टरवेट खिताब अपने नाम किया।

 क्वींसलैंड टेस्ट: भारतीय महिला टीम ने खेला अपना पहला गुलाबी गेंद टेस्ट

• 30 सितंबर को ऑस्ट्रेलिया के क्वींसलैंडन में करारा ओवल में भारत और ऑस्ट्रेलियाई महिला टीम के बीच पहला गुलाबी गेंद वाला दिन और रात टेस्ट मैच शुरू हुआ। बीसीसीआई और क्रिकेट ऑस्ट्रेलिया आगे चलकर पूरी सीरीज में एक टेस्ट मैच खेलना चाहते हैं। भारतीय टीम का नेतृत्व मिताली राज कर रही हैं।
• ऑस्ट्रेलिया ने 2017 में सिडनी में महिला एशेज के दौरान इंग्लैंड के खिलाफ पहला गुलाबी गेंद टेस्ट खेला था। दोनों टीमों ने आखिरी बार 2006 में एडिलेड में एक टेस्ट खेला था जब ऑस्ट्रेलिया ने जीत हासिल की थी। सिर्फ झूलन गोस्वामी और मिताली राज ही हैं जिन्होंने वो टेस्ट मैच खेला था।

पद्मजा चंदुरु ने एनएसडीएल के एमडी और सीईओ के रूप में पदभार संभाला

• पद्मजा चंद्रू को नेशनल सिक्योरिटीज डिपॉजिटरीज लिमिटेड (NSDL) के प्रबंध निदेशक और मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी (एमडी और सीईओ) के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया है। उन्होंने एनएसडीएल के एमडी और सीईओ के रूप में जीवी नागेश्वर राव की जगह ली है। भारत में, दो डिपॉजिटरी हैं, अर्थात् नेशनल सिक्योरिटीज डिपॉजिटरीज लिमिटेड (NSDL) और सेंट्रल सिक्योरिटीज डिपॉजिटरीज लिमिटेड (CDSL)। दोनों डिपॉजिटरी में हमारी वित्तीय प्रतिभूतियां हैं।
• पद्मजा चंद्रू आंध्र विश्वविद्यालय से वाणिज्य में स्नातकोत्तर हैं। उन्हें बैंकिंग क्षेत्र में लगभग 37 वर्षों का अनुभव है। उन्होंने सितंबर 2018 से अगस्त 2021 तक इंडियन बैंक के एमडी और सीईओ के रूप में कार्य किया है। उन्हें हितधारक प्रबंधन, डिजिटल परिवर्तन, नियामक मामलों, अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अनुभव और विकास को बढ़ावा देने और मूल्य बढ़ाने पर ध्यान देने के साथ ड्राइविंग नवाचार में व्यापक अनुभव है।

 विनोद अग्रवाल को ASDC का अध्यक्ष नियुक्त किया गया

• ऑटोमोटिव स्किल डेवलपमेंट काउंसिल (ASDC) ने ऑटोमोबाइल उद्योग के दिग्गज विनोद अग्रवाल को अपना अध्यक्ष नियुक्त किया है। अग्रवाल, जो वर्तमान में वीई कमर्शियल व्हीकल्स लिमिटेड (VECV) के प्रबंध निदेशक और सीईओ हैं, निकुंज सांघी की जगह लेंगे, जो चार वर्ष तक सेवा देने के बाद एएसडीसी छोड़ देंगे।
• ASDC की स्थापना एक दशक पहले की गई थी और इसे केंद्र सरकार और राष्ट्रीय कौशल विकास निगम (NSDC) के साथ शीर्ष उद्योग संघों - SIAM, ACMA और FADA - द्वारा बढ़ावा दिया जाता है। यह ऑटो उद्योग के लिए एक क्षेत्र कौशल परिषद है, जिसका उद्देश्य ऑटोमोटिव उद्योग के विकास और प्रतिस्पर्धा को बनाए रखने के लिए देश को आत्मनिर्भर बनाना है।

 सुनील कटारिया को आईएसए का नया अध्यक्ष नियुक्त किया गया

• इंडियन सोसाइटी ऑफ एडवर्टाइजर्स (ISA) की नव निर्वाचित कार्यकारी परिषद ने सुनील कटारिया, मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी, भारत और सार्क (SAARC), गोदरेज कंज्यूमर प्रोडक्ट्स लिमिटेड को आईएसए (ISA) के अध्यक्ष के रूप में चुना है। सुनील ने पिछले पांच वर्षों में साथी कार्यकारी परिषद के सदस्यों, आईएसए सदस्यों और अन्य उद्योग निकायों से समर्थन प्राप्त करने के लिए सोसायटी का नेतृत्व किया है।
• आईएसए पिछले 69 वर्षों में विज्ञापनदाताओं के लिए एक मजबूत आवाज के रूप में शीर्ष राष्ट्रीय निकाय है। इसके क्रॉस-सेक्टर विज्ञापनदाता सदस्य वार्षिक राष्ट्रीय गैर-सरकारी विज्ञापन खर्च में आधे से अधिक का योगदान करते हैं। आईएसए, जो वर्ल्ड फेडरेशन ऑफ एडवर्टाइजर्स (WFA) का संस्थापक सदस्य है और ASCI के संस्थापकों में से एक है, जो अन्य उद्योग निकायों के साथ जुड़ने वाले विज्ञापनदाताओं से साझेदारी करना जारी रखता है। आईएसए ने बीएआरसी के गठन में एक महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई है और विज्ञापनदाताओं को मजबूत और विश्वसनीय डेटा प्राप्त करने की दिशा में इसके साथ मिलकर काम कर रहा है।

गांधी जयंती 2021: 2 अक्टूबर

• हमारे राष्ट्रपिता महात्मा गांधी की जयंती को याद करने के लिए प्रतिवर्ष 2 अक्टूबर को गांधी जयंती के रूप में मनाया जाता है। वर्ष 2021 वैश्विक शांति के प्रतीक की 152वीं जयंती है, जिनका जन्म 2 अक्टूबर 1869 को गुजरात के पोरबंदर में हुआ था। इस दिन को भारत में गांधी जयंती के रूप में जाना जाता है।
• 15 जून 2007 को, संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा ने 2 अक्टूबर को अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अहिंसा दिवस के रूप में स्थापित करने के लिए मतदान किया। अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अहिंसा दिवस 2 अक्टूबर को भारतीय स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन के नेता और अहिंसा के दर्शन और रणनीति के अग्रदूत महात्मा गांधी के जन्मदिन के रूप में मनाया जाता है। अंतर्राष्ट्रीय दिवस "शिक्षा और जन जागरूकता सहित अहिंसा के संदेश को प्रसारित करने" का एक अवसर है।

1973 के बाद से नोबेल पुरस्कार विजेता वोले सोयिंका का पहला उपन्यास

• वोले शोयिंका द्वारा लिखित "क्रानिकल फ्रॉम द लैंड ऑफ द हैपीअस्ट पीपल ऑन अर्थ" नामक एक उपन्यास जारी किया गया है। वोले शोयिंका साहित्य में अफ्रीका के पहले नोबेल पुरस्कार विजेता हैं।
• उन्होंने 1973 में अपना अंतिम उपन्यास "सीज़न ऑफ़ एनोमी" लिखा था। वह लगभग 50 वर्षों के बाद एक नए उपन्यास के साथ लौट रहे हैं। उनके उल्लेखनीय नाटकों में ''द जीरो प्लेज'', ''द रोड'', ''द लायन एंड द ज्वेल'', ''मैडमेन एंड स्पेशलिस्ट्स'' और ''फ्रॉम जिया, विद लव'' शामिल हैं।

Prime Minister of India chaired 38th PRAGATI Meeting

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi has chaired the 38th PRAGATI meeting to review multiple projects, grievances and programmes of central and state government. PRAGATI stands for Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation. In the meeting, eight projects were taken for review having a cumulative cost of around Rs 50,000 crore. 297 projects worth Rs. 14.39 lakh crore has been reviewed so far in the previous 37 PRAGATI meetings.
• PRAGATI is an ambitious multi-purpose and multi-modal platform, launched in March 2015, by PM Modi as a unique integrating and interactive platform, aimed at addressing common man’s grievances and simultaneously monitoring and reviewing important programmes and projects of the Government of India as well as projects flagged by State Governments.

 Amazon brings global computer science education initiative to India

• E-commerce major Amazon India has announced the launch of Amazon Future Engineer, its global computer science education programme in India. The programme will enable access to quality computer science education and career opportunities for students from underrepresented and underserved communities. In the first year of its launch, Amazon aims to enable and deliver learning opportunities to more than 1 lakh students from 900 government and aided schools across seven states in India.
• Amazon Future Engineer aims to address the gap by bringing early exposure and access to computer science education to students through in-person, online and blended learning formats.
• Amazon is working with its global knowledge partner Code.org, a global non-profit organization dedicated to computer science education.

Indian hockey star Rupinder Pal Singh announces retirement

• The Olympic bronze medal-winning Indian hockey player, Rupinder Pal Singh has announced his retirement from international hockey to make way for young and talented players.
• The 30-year-old Rupinder represented the Indian hockey team in 223 matches in his 13 years hockey career. Rupinder was part of the Indian hockey team that won the bronze medal in the 2020 Summer Tokyo Olympics, held in July – August 2021.

 Boxing great Manny Pacquiao announced retirement

• After 26 years and 72 professional bouts, Former world champion Manny Pacquiao announced his retirement from professional boxing. He made his professional debut in 1995 at age 16.
• He became the first boxer to win the lineal championship in five different weight classes and is the only boxer to hold world championships across four different decades. He held the welterweight title as recently as 2019 at age 40.

Queenslandon Test: Indian women team played their first-ever pink-ball test

• The first pink-ball day and night Test match between India and Australian women team at the Carrara Oval in Queenslandon, Australia on 30th September. The BCCI and Cricket Australia wish to slot in a Test in the full series they play going forward. The Indian team lead by Mithali Raj.
• Australia played the first pink-ball Test against England in 2017 in Sydney during the women’s Ashes. The two teams last played a Test in Adelaide in 2006 when Australia won convincingly. Jhulan Goswami is one of two survivors from that Test along with Mithali Raj.

Padmaja Chunduru Takes Over As MD And CEO, NSDL

• Padmaja Chunduru has been appointed as the managing director and chief executive officer (MD & CEO) of National Securities Depositories (NSDL). She has replaced GV Nageswara Rao as the MD & CEO of NSDL. In India, there are two depositories namely National Securities Depositories Ltd (NSDL) and Central Securities Depositories Ltd (CDSL). Both the depositories hold our financial securities.
• Padmaja Chunduru is a Post Graduate in Commerce from Andhra University. She has around 37 years of experience in the banking domain. She has served as MD & CEO of the Indian Bank from September 2018 to August 2021. She has extensive experience in stakeholder management, digital transformation, regulatory affairs, international experience and driving innovation with a focus on delivering growth and enhancing value.

 Vinod Aggarwal has been appointed president of ASDC

• The Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC) has appointed automobile industry veteran Vinod Aggarwal as its president. Aggarwal, who is currently the managing director and CEO of VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd (VECV), replaces Nikunj Sanghi, who will leave ASDC after serving it for four years.
• ASDC was set up a decade ago and is promoted by the top industry associations — SIAM, ACMA and FADA — along with the central government and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). It is a sector skills council for the auto industry, which aims to make the country self-sufficient to sustain the growth and competitiveness of the automotive industry.

 Sunil Kataria appointed as new chairman of ISA

• The newly elected Executive Council of the Indian Society of Advertisers (ISA) has elected Sunil Kataria, Chief Executive Officer, India and SAARC, Godrej Consumer Products Limited as the Chairman of the ISA. Sunil has led the Society over the past five years to greater heights garnering support from the fellow Executive Council members, the ISA members and other industry bodies.
• ISA is the apex national body as a strong voice to advertisers over the last 69 years. Its cross-sector advertiser members contribute to more than half of the annual national non-governmental ad spends. ISA, which is a founder member of the World Federation of Advertisers (WFA) and one of the founders of ASCI, continues to partner with other industry bodies that connect to the advertisers. The ISA played a significant role in the formation of BARC and is closely partnering with it towards advertisers getting robust and credible data.

Gandhi Jayanti 2021: 2nd  October

• Every year 2nd October is celebrated as a Gandhi Jayanti to remember the birth anniversary of the father of our nation Mahatma Gandhi. The year 2021 marks the 152nd birth anniversary of the global peace icon who was born on 2 October 1869, in Porbandar in Gujarat. This day is referred to as Gandhi Jayanti in India.
• On 15 June 2007, the United Nations General Assembly voted to establish 2 October as the International Day of Non-Violence. The International Day of Non-Violence is observed on 2 October, the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, leader of the Indian independence movement and pioneer of the philosophy and strategy of non-violence. The International Day is an occasion to “disseminate the message of non-violence, including through education and public awareness”.

The Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka’s First Novel Since 1973

• A novel titled “Chronicles from the Land of the Happiest People on Earth” authored by Wole Soyinka has been released. Wole Soyinka is Africa’s first Nobel laureate in Literature. He wrote his last novel ”Season of Anomy” in 1973.
• He returns with a new novel after nearly 50 years. His notable plays include ”The Jero Plays”, ”The Road”, ”The Lion and the Jewel”, ”Madmen and Specialists” and ”From Zia, With Love”.
