ब्राजील की साइट को यूनेस्को की विश्व धरोहर का दर्जा मिला

• सिटियो बर्ल मार्क्स साइट, ब्राजील के शहर रियो डी जनेरियो में एक लैंडस्केप गार्डन को यूनेस्को की विश्व धरोहर स्थलों की सूची में जोड़ा गया है। उद्यान में रियो के मूल निवासी पौधों की 3,500 से अधिक प्रजातियां हैं और इसे वनस्पति और परिदृश्य प्रयोग के लिए एक प्रयोगशाला माना जाता है।
• साइट का नाम ब्राजील के लैंडस्केप आर्किटेक्ट बर्ल मार्क्स के नाम पर रखा गया है, जिनके पार्कों और बगीचों के डिजाइन ने उन्हें विश्व प्रसिद्ध बना दिया। 1985 तक सिटियो बर्ल मार्क्स साइट उनका घर था।

केंद्र सरकार बनाएगी, एनिमेशन, विजुअल इफेक्ट, गेमिंग

• केंद्र सरकार ने भारतीय और साथ ही वैश्विक उद्योग को पूरा करने के लिए भारत में एक विश्व स्तरीय प्रतिभा पूल बनाने के लिए एनिमेशन, विजुअल इफेक्ट्स, गेमिंग और कॉमिक्स के लिए राष्ट्रीय उत्कृष्टता केंद्र स्थापित करने का निर्णय लिया है। इसे भारतीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान, बम्बई के सहयोग से स्थापित किया जाएगा। सूचना एवं प्रसारण मंत्री अनुराग ठाकुर ने राज्यसभा में एक प्रश्न के लिखित उत्तर में यह बात कही।
• एनीमेशन और वीएफएक्स क्षेत्र में कुशल जनशक्ति का समर्थन करने के लिए, सत्यजीत रे फिल्म एंड टेलीविजन इंस्टीट्यूट और फिल्म एंड टेलीविजन इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ इंडिया एनिमेशन और वीएफएक्स पर पाठ्यक्रम चलाते हैं। मंत्री ने यह भी बताया कि भारत की 15 देशों के साथ ऑडियो-विजुअल को-प्रोडक्शन संधियां भी हैं।

मध्य प्रदेश सरकार ने बनाई 'देवरन्या' योजना

• मध्य प्रदेश में आयुष को बढ़ावा देने और इसे रोजगार से जोड़ने के लिए सरकार ने 'देवारण्य योजना बनाई है। यह योजना राज्य के आदिवासी क्षेत्रों में रहने वाले लोगों को रोजगार प्रदान करने के लिए बनाई गई है। देवारण्य योजना के माध्यम से प्रदेश में आयुष दवाओं के उत्पादन के लिए एक संपूर्ण मूल्य श्रृंखला विकसित की जाएगी। इस कार्य में स्वयं सहायता समूह भी अहम भूमिका निभाएंगे।
• इसमें कृषि उत्पादक संगठन, आयुष विभाग, वन विभाग, ग्रामीण विकास विभाग, उद्यान विभाग, पर्यटन विभाग, कृषि विभाग, सूक्ष्म, लघु एवं मध्यम उद्यम विभाग, औद्योगिक नीति एवं निवेश संवर्धन विभाग एवं जनजातीय कार्य विभाग मिलकर मिशन मोड में कार्य करेंगे। इसके लिए गांवों के खूबसूरत मैदानों में औषधीय पौधों की खेती करनी चाहिए। आयुष और पर्यटन को एक साथ लाया जाएगा।

पुरी 24 घंटे के आधार पर गुणवत्तापूर्ण पेयजल उपलब्ध कराने वाला भारत का पहला शहर बना

• पुरी भारत का पहला शहर बन गया है जहां लोग 24 घंटे के आधार पर सीधे नल से उच्च गुणवत्ता वाला पेयजल प्राप्त कर सकते हैं। इसने पुरी के लोगों को सीधे नल से गुणवत्तापूर्ण पेयजल एकत्र करने में सक्षम बनाया है। अब से लोगों को पीने के पानी को स्टोर या फिल्टर करने की जरूरत नहीं है।
• इस परियोजना से पुरी के 2.5 लाख नागरिकों और प्रति वर्ष पर्यटन स्थल पर आने वाले 2 करोड़ पर्यटकों को लाभ होगा। उन्हें पानी की बोतल लेकर इधर-उधर नहीं भटकना पड़ेगा। पुरी पर अब 400 मीट्रिक टन प्लास्टिक कचरे का बोझ नहीं रहेगा। पुरी में 400 स्थानों पर पानी के फव्वारे विकसित किए गए हैं।

अंतर्राष्ट्रीय स्वच्छ वायु उत्प्रेरक कार्यक्रम के लिए इंदौर चयनित

• मध्य प्रदेश का इंदौरशहर, या भारत का सबसे स्वच्छ शहर, अंतर्राष्ट्रीय स्वच्छ वायु उत्प्रेरक कार्यक्रम के लिए चयनित होने वाला देश का एकमात्र शहर बन गया है। इंदौर नगर निगम और मध्य प्रदेश प्रदूषण नियंत्रण बोर्ड के सहयोग से शहर में हवा को शुद्ध करने के लिए यह परियोजना पांच वर्ष की अवधि के लिए संचालित की जाएगी। परियोजना के तहत, यूएसएआईडी (USAID) और साझेदार स्थानीय प्रदूषण स्रोतों को बेहतर ढंग से समझने के लिए स्थानीय समुदायों के साथ काम करेंगे और स्वच्छ, स्वस्थ हवा के लिए समाधानों की पहचान, परीक्षण, गति और पैमाने पर समाधान करेंगे।
• स्वच्छ वायु उत्प्रेरक एक नया प्रमुख कार्यक्रम है जिसे यूएस एजेंसी फॉर इंटरनेशनल डेवलपमेंट (USAID) द्वारा शुरू किया गया है और विश्व संसाधन संस्थान (WRI) और पर्यावरण रक्षा कोष (EDF) के नेतृत्व में निम्न और मध्यम वायु प्रदूषण से निपटने और स्वच्छ वायु समाधान में तेजी लाकर आय वाले देश के लिए संगठनों का एक वैश्विक संघ है।

मोमीजी निशिया ओलंपिक में सबसे कम उम्र के स्वर्ण पदक विजेता

• जापान की मोमिजी निशिया इतिहास में सबसे कम उम्र की व्यक्तिगत ओलंपिक चैंपियन बन गईं, जब उन्होंने 13 वर्ष और 330 दिनों की उम्र में महिलाओं के स्केटबोर्डिंग उद्घाटन में स्वर्ण जीता। ब्राजील की रायसा लील (13 वर्ष 203 दिन) ने रजत और जापान की फुना नाकायामा (16 वर्ष) ने कांस्य पदक जीता।
• सबसे कम उम्र के स्वर्ण पदक विजेता बर्लिन में 1936 के खेलों में टीम यूएसए (USA) के मार्जोरी गेस्ट्रिंग थी। उस समय केवल 13 वर्ष और 268 दिन की गेस्ट्रिंग ने महिला डाइविंग प्रतियोगिता में स्वर्ण पदक जीता था।

नियुक्ति एवं इस्‍तीफे

(बीएसएफ) के (डीजी) राकेश अस्थाना को दिल्ली पुलिस आयुक्त नियुक्त किया गया

• सीमा सुरक्षा बल (बीएसएफ) के महानिदेशक (डीजी), राकेश अस्थाना को तत्काल प्रभाव से दिल्ली पुलिस आयुक्त नियुक्त किया गया है। उनकी नियुक्ति 31 जुलाई, 2021 को उनकी सेवानिवृत्ति से ठीक तीन दिन पहले हुई है। मंत्रिमंडल की नियुक्ति समिति ने अस्थाना की सेवा को शुरू में उनकी सेवानिवृत्ति की तारीख से एक वर्ष की अवधि के लिए या अगले आदेश तक, जो भी पहले हो, तक बढ़ा दिया है।
• 1984 बैच के आईपीएस अधिकारी अस्थाना ने पहले केंद्रीय जांच ब्यूरो के विशेष निदेशक के रूप में कार्य किया था। वह नारकोटिक्स कंट्रोल ब्यूरो के प्रमुख थे जब अभिनेता रिया चक्रवर्ती को मुंबई में ड्रग्स के मामले में गिरफ्तार किया गया था। 2018 में सीबीआई में अपने कार्यकाल के दौरान, अस्थाना तत्‍कालीन सीबीआई निदेशक आलोक वर्मा के साथ एक बेहूदा विवाद में लिप्त थे। दोनों अधिकारियों को केंद्रीय जांच एजेंसी से हटा दिया गया और बाद में अस्थाना को आरोपों से मुक्त कर दिया गया।

अंतर्राष्ट्रीय बाघ दिवस 2021: 29 जुलाई

• वैश्विक बाघ दिवस या अंतर्राष्ट्रीय बाघ दिवस प्रति वर्ष 29 जुलाई को जंगली बिल्लियों की घटती आबादी के बारे में जागरूकता बढ़ाने और उनके संरक्षण के प्रयासों के लिए मनाया जाता है। इसका लक्ष्य बाघों के प्राकृतिक आवासों की रक्षा के लिए एक वैश्विक प्रणाली को बढ़ावा देना और बाघ संरक्षण के मुद्दों के लिए जन जागरूकता और समर्थन बढ़ाना है। इस वर्ष 11वां अंतर्राष्ट्रीय बाघ दिवस है।
• 2021 के अंतर्राष्ट्रीय बाघ दिवस समारोह का विषय / नारा "उनका अस्तित्व हमारे हाथों में" है।
• वैश्विक बाघ दिवस 2010 में रूस में 13 टाइगर रेंज देशों द्वारा सेंट पीटर्सबर्ग घोषणा पर हस्ताक्षर के दौरान अस्तित्व में आया था। इन टाइगर रेंज देशों की सरकारों ने 2022 तक प्राकृतिक आवासों की सुरक्षा और बाघों की संख्या को दोगुना करने के लिए संरक्षण को प्रोत्साहित करने का संकल्प लिया था। अवैध शिकार और बाघ के शरीर के अंगों जैसे हड्डी, त्वचा का अवैध व्यापार जंगली बाघों के लिए सबसे बड़ा खतरा है। बाघ के शरीर के अंगों की मांग ने जंगली बिल्लियों के अवैध शिकार और तस्करी को बढ़ा दिया है।

बैंकिंग और अर्थव्यवस्था

भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक जल्द ही डिजिटल मुद्रा पायलटों की योजना पर कार्यरत

• भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक वर्तमान में अपनी डिजिटल मुद्रा, सेंट्रल बैंक डिजिटल करेंसी (CBDC) के लिए चरणबद्ध कार्यान्वयन रणनीति पर काम कर रहा है, और इसे जल्द ही थोक और खुदरा क्षेत्रों में लॉन्च करेगा। भारत पहले से ही डिजिटल भुगतान में अग्रणी है, लेकिन छोटे मूल्य के लेनदेन के लिए नकद प्रमुख है। आरबीआई (RBI) वर्तमान में सीबीडीसी के दायरे, अंतर्निहित प्रौद्योगिकी, सत्यापन तंत्र, वितरण वास्तुकला और ऐननिमिटी की डिग्री आदि की जांच कर रहा है।
• आरबीआई के लिए प्राथमिक विचार कुछ या कई आभासी मुद्राओं में देखी गई अस्थिरता के भयावह स्तर से उपभोक्ताओं की रक्षा करना है, जिनका कोई संप्रभु समर्थन नहीं है। हालांकि डिजिटल करेंसी का चरणबद्ध तरीके से रोलआउट भारत के लिए शुभ संकेत है, लेकिन यह अपनी चुनौतियों के साथ आएगा।
• डिजिटल मुद्राएं दिन-ब-दिन अधिक से अधिक कर्षण प्राप्त कर रही हैं, और ऐसे देश हैं जिन्होंने इक्वाडोर, ट्यूनीशिया, सेनेगल, स्वीडन, एस्टोनिया, चीन, रूस, जापान, वेनेजुएला और इज़राइल सहित डिजिटल मुद्राओं को लॉन्च किया है या लॉन्च करने जा रहे हैं।

Brazil’s site received UNESCO World Heritage status

• The Sitio Burle Marx site, a landscape garden in Brazilian city Rio de Janeiro has been added to UNESCO’s list of World Heritage sites. The garden features more than 3,500 species of plants native to Rio and is considered a laboratory for botanical and landscape experimentation.
• The site has been named after Burle Marx, a Brazilian landscape architect whose designs of parks and gardens made him world-famous. The Sitio Burle Marx site was his home until 1985.

NATIONAL

Government will set up center for animation, visual effects, gaming

• The Union Government has decided to set up a National Centre of Excellence for Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics for creating a world-class talent pool in India to cater to the Indian as well as a global industry. It will be set up in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. Minister of Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur said this in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha.
• In order to support skilled manpower in the animation and VFX sector, Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute and Film and Television Institute of India run courses on Animation and VFX. The Minister also informed that India has also audio-visual co-production treaties with 15 countries.

Madhya Pradesh government made ‘Devaranya’ scheme

• In order to promote AYUSH in Madhya Pradesh and to link it with employment, the government has made the ‘Devaranya’ scheme. The scheme has been made to provide employment to the people living in the tribal areas of the state. A complete value chain for the production of AYUSH medicines will be developed in the state through Devarnya Yojana. Self-help groups will also play an important role in this work.
• In this, Agriculture Producer Organization, AYUSH Department, Forest Department, Rural Development Department, Horticulture Department, Tourism Department, Agriculture Department, Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Department, Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion Department and Tribal Affairs Department will work together in mission mode. For this, medicinal plants should be cultivated in the beautiful plains of the villages. AYUSH and tourism will be brought together.

Puri becomes India’s first city to provide quality drinking tap water on 24 hour basis

• Puri has become the first city in India where people can avail high-quality drinking water directly from the tap on a 24-hour basis. It has enabled the people of Puri to collect quality drinking water directly from the tap. Henceforth, people need not have to store or filter drinking water.
• The project would benefit 2.5 lakh citizens of Puri and 2 crore tourists who visit the tourist place every year. They need not have to move around with water bottles. Puri would no more be burdened with 400 metric tonnes of plastic waste. Water fountains have been developed at 400 locations in Puri.

Indore selected for International Clean Air Catalyst Programme

• The Indore city of Madhya Pradesh, or the cleanest city of India, has become the only city from the country to be selected for International Clean Air Catalyst Programme. The project will be operated for a period of five years to purify the air in the city with the cooperation of Indore Municipal Corporation and Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board. Under the project, USAID and partners will work with local communities to better understand local pollution sources and identify, test, accelerate, and scale solutions for cleaner, healthier air.
• Clean Air Catalyst is a new flagship programme launched by The US Agency for International Development (USAID) and a global consortium of organisations, led by the World Resources Institute (WRI) and Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) to combat air pollution in low and middle-income countries by accelerating clean air solutions.

Momiji Nishiya youngest gold medal winners in Olympic

• Japan’s Momiji Nishiya became one of the youngest individual Olympic champions in history when she won the inaugural women’s skateboarding gold at the age of 13 years and 330 days. Rayssa Leal (13 years and 203 days) of Brazil won silver and Funa Nakayama (16 years) of Japan clinched the bronze.
• The youngest gold medalist was Team USA’s Marjorie Gestring at the 1936 games in Berlin. Gestring, only 13 years and 268 days old at the time, won gold in the women’s diving competition.

APPOINTMENTS AND RESIGNATIONS

(BSF)’s (DG) Rakesh Asthana appointed as Delhi Police Commissioner

• Border Security Force (BSF) Director General (DG), Rakesh Asthana has been appointed as the Delhi Police Commissioner, with immediate effect. His appointment comes just three days before his superannuation on July 31, 2021. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has extended Asthana’s service initially for a period of one year beyond the date of his superannuation or until further order, whichever is earlier.
• Asthana, a 1984-batch IPS officer, had earlier served as the Special Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation. He was the Narcotics Control Bureau chief when actor Rhea Chakraborty was arrested in a drugs case in Mumbai. During his stint in the CBI in 2018, Ashtana was engaged in an unsavoury spat with the then CBI Director Alok Verma. Both the officers were removed from the central probe agency and Asthana was subsequently cleared of the charges.

International Tiger Day 2021: 29th  July

• Global Tiger Day or International Tiger Day is observed on 29th July every year to raise awareness about the declining population of wild cats and making efforts to conserve them. The goal of the day is to promote a global system for protecting the natural habitats of tigers and to raise public awareness and support for tiger conservation issues. This year marks the 11th International Tiger Day.
• The theme/Slogan for the 2021 International Tiger Day celebration is “Their Survival is in our hands”.
• The Global Tiger Day came into being during the signing of the Saint Petersburg declaration by 13 tiger range countries in 2010 in Russia. The governments of these tiger range countries had resolved to encourage the conservation, protecting natural habitats and double the number of tigers by 2022. Poaching and the illegal trade of tiger body parts like bone, the skin has posed the biggest threat to wild tigers. The demand for tiger body parts has increased the poaching and trafficking of wild cats.

BANKING AND ECONOMY

Reserve Bank of India is working plans digital currency pilots soon

• The Reserve Bank of India is currently working on a phased implementation strategy for its own digital currency, Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC), and will launch it in the wholesale and retail segments soon. India is already a leader in digital payments, but cash remains dominant for small-value transactions. RBI is currently examining the scope of CBDCs, the underlying technology, the validation mechanism, distribution architecture and degree of anonymity etc.
• The primary idea for the RBI is to protect consumers from the appalling level of volatility seen in some or many of the virtual currencies that have no sovereign backing. Though the phased rollout of digital currency augurs well for India, it will come with its own challenges.
• Digital currencies are gaining more and more traction by the day, and there are countries that have launched or are going to be launching digital currencies, including Ecuador, Tunisia, Senegal, Sweden, Estonia, China, Russia, Japan, Venezuela, and Israel.
