राजनाथ सिंह ने 'हुनर हाट' के 26वें संस्करण का उद्घाटन किया

• रक्षा मंत्री राजनाथ सिंह ने नई दिल्ली में 'हुनर हाट' के 26वें संस्करण का उद्घाटन किया। "हुनर हाट" 21 फरवरी से 01 मार्च, 2021 तक "वोकल फॉर लोकल" के विषय के साथ आयोजित किया जाएगा। 31 से अधिक राज्यों और केंद्र शासित प्रदेशों के 600 से अधिक कारीगर और शिल्पकार भाग ले रहे हैं।
• हुनर हाट के माध्यम से, केंद्रीय अल्पसंख्यक मामलों के मंत्रालय का लक्ष्य 2022 तक 75 हुनर हाट का आयोजन करके 7,50,000 कारीगरों को रोजगार और रोजगार के अवसर प्रदान करना है, जब भारत अपनी स्वतंत्रता के 75 साल का जश्न मनाएगा।
• हुनर हाट hunarhaat.org पर ऑनलाइन और सरकारी ई-मार्केटप्लेस पोर्टल पर भी उपलब्ध है। विदेशों में रहने वाले भारतीय भी ऑनलाइन उत्पाद खरीद सकते हैं।

 सीएम शिवराज सिंह चौहान ने होशंगाबाद का नाम बदलकर नर्मदापुरम किया

• मध्य प्रदेश राज्य के होशंगाबाद शहर का नाम बदलकर नर्मदापुरम रखा जाएगा। इसकी घोषणा मध्य प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री शिवराज सिंह चौहान ने होशंगाबाद में आयोजित नर्मदा जयंती कार्यक्रम के दौरान की। पहले होशंगाबाद का नाम एक हमलावर होशंग शाह के नाम पर रखा गया था, जो मालवा का पहला शासक था।
• हालांकि, राज्य की जीवन रेखा नर्मदा नदी के नाम पर अब शहर को नर्मदापुरम कहा जाएगा। राज्य सरकार अब होशंगाबाद का नाम बदलकर नर्मदापुरम करने के लिए केंद्र को प्रस्ताव भेजेगी। यह शहर नर्मदा नदी के किनारे अपने सुंदर घाटों के लिए प्रसिद्ध है।

• खेलो इंडिया यूनिवर्सिटी गेम्स (KIUG) 2021 का दूसरा संस्करण, कर्नाटक में आयोजित होने वाला है। यह घोषणा कर्नाटक के मुख्यमंत्री श्री बी.एस. येदियुरप्पा और केंद्रीय युवा मामले और खेल मंत्री किरेन रिजिजू ने की। KIUG-2021 को एसोसिएशन ऑफ इंडियन यूनिवर्सिटीज (AIU) के साथ साझेदारी में JAIN (डीम्ड-टू-बी यूनिवर्सिटी), बेंगलुरु द्वारा होस्ट किया जाएगा। 2021 में, देश के सदियों पुराने खेल विषयों को संरक्षित करने और बढ़ावा देने के प्रयास में योगासन और मलखंब को यूनिवर्सिटी गेम्स में जोड़ा गया है।
• खेल, वर्ल्ड यूनिवर्सिटी गेम्स नोर्म्स के अनुसार U-25 आयु वर्ग में आयोजित किए जाएंगे।
• KIUG भारत का सबसे बड़ा विश्वविद्यालय खेल है और इसका उद्देश्य खेल प्रतिभाओं का दोहन करना है, जो ओलंपिक सहित अंतर्राष्ट्रीय प्रतियोगिताओं में भारत का प्रतिनिधित्व कर सकते हैं।

TRAI के पूर्व अध्यक्ष राहुल खुल्लर का निधन

• भारतीय दूरसंचार नियामक प्राधिकरण (TRAI) के पूर्व अध्यक्ष राहुल खुल्लर का निधन हो गया है। वह 1975-बैच के भारतीय प्रशासनिक सेवा (IAS) अधिकारी थे, जिन्हें मई 2012 में TRAI अध्यक्ष के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया था।
• उन्होंने तीन साल तक TRAI में सेवा की। TRAI अध्यक्ष के रूप में नियुक्त होने से पहले, वह वाणिज्य और व्यापार मंत्रालय के एक सचिव थे।

विजय सांपला ने संभाला राष्ट्रीय अनुसूचित जाति आयोग के अध्यक्ष का कार्यभार

• पूर्व केंद्रीय मंत्री विजय सांपला ने राष्ट्रीय अनुसूचित जाति आयोग (National Commission for Scheduled Castes) के अध्यक्ष का पदभार ग्रहण कर लिया है। वह 2014 से 2019 तक सामाजिक न्याय और अधिकारिता मंत्रालय के पूर्व केंद्रीय राज्य मंत्री रहे हैं।
• NCSC सामाजिक न्याय और अधिकारिता मंत्रालय के तहत एक भारतीय संवैधानिक निकाय है, जो अनुसूचित जाति के सामाजिक-आर्थिक विकास और उनके विरुद्ध होने वाले अत्याचार को रोकने के लिए काम करता है।

नागालैंड में स्कूली शिक्षा को बढ़ाने के लिए भारत, विश्व बैंक ने किया समझौता

• भारत सरकार, नागालैंड सरकार और विश्व बैंक ने "नागालैंड: कक्षा शिक्षण और संसाधन परियोजना को बढ़ाना (Nagaland: Enhancing Classroom Teaching and Resources Project)" के लिए $68 मिलियन के समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए, ताकि नागालैंड में स्कूलों का शासन बढ़ाया जा सके। इंटरनेशनल बैंक फॉर रिकंस्ट्रक्शन एंड डेवलपमेंट (IBRD) से $68 मिलियन का ऋण की 5 (पांच) वर्षों की अनुग्रह अवधि सहित 14.5 वर्षों की अंतिम परिपक्वता है।

 भारत और मॉरीशस के बीच व्यापार समझौता, $100 मिलियन के रक्षा समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर

• भारतीय विदेश मंत्री एस जयशंकर दो प्रमुख हिंद महासागर क्षेत्र के देशों- मालदीव और मॉरीशस की आधिकारिक यात्रा पर थे।
• विदेश मंत्री (EAM) एस जयशंकर ने दोनों देशों के बीच व्यापक और महत्वपूर्ण द्विपक्षीय संबंधों की समीक्षा करने के लिए द्वीप राष्ट्र मॉरीशस का दौरा किया। भारत ने मॉरीशस के साथ एक मुक्त व्यापार समझौता (FTA) या (व्यापक आर्थिक सहयोग साझेदारी समझौता- (CECPA)) पर हस्ताक्षर किए।
• FTA या CECPA किसी भी अफ्रीकी देश के साथ ऐसा पहला समझौता है, और मॉरीशस को "अफ्रीका के हब (hub of Africa)" के रूप में उभरने में मदद करेगा।
• भारत ने मॉरीशस को रक्षा परिसंपत्तियों की खरीद की सुविधा प्रदान करने के लिए 100 मिलियन डॉलर की ऋण व्यवस्था (LoC) की भी पेशकश की है।
• इसके अलावा, दोनों देशों के बीच मॉरीशस को लीज पर 2 साल के लिए डोर्नियर एयरक्राफ्ट और एडवांस लाइट हेलिकॉप्टर ध्रुव प्रदान करने के लिए एक समझौते पर भी हस्ताक्षर किए गए हैं, ताकि देश गश्त गतिविधियों को अंजाम दे सके और इसकी विशाल समुद्री डोमेन अधिक प्रभावी ढंग से निगरानी कर सके।
• भारत ने मेड इन इंडिया COVID-19 टीकों की 100,000 खुराक देश में पहुंचाई। इससे पहले 100,000 खुराक की आपूर्ति की गई थी। दोनों देशों ने उपभोक्ता संरक्षण और 8 मेगावाट सौर संयंत्र के लिए एक अनुबंध पर समझौता ज्ञापन पर भी हस्ताक्षर किए।

 प्रधानमंत्री करेंगे 'मैरीटाइम इंडिया समिट' के दूसरे संस्करण का उद्घाटन

• प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी 2 मार्च से 4 मार्च, 2021 तक वर्चुअल मेरीटाइम इंडिया समिट (MIS) 2021 का उद्घाटन करेंगे। 'मैरीटाइम इंडिया समिट 2021' भारत सरकार के केंद्रीय पत्तन, पोत परिवहन और जलमार्ग राज्य मंत्रालय (Union Ministry of State for Ports, Shipping & Waterways-MoPSW) की प्रमुख पहल है। फिक्की शिखर सम्मेलन के लिए उद्योग भागीदार है।
• इस आयोजन का विषय है "भारतीय समुद्री क्षेत्र में व्यापार के संभावित अवसरों की खोज करना और आत्मनिर्भर भारत बनाना (Exploring the potential business opportunities in the Indian Maritime sector and making Aatmanirbhar Bharat)"।
• शिखर सम्मेलन का उद्देश्य भारतीय बंदरगाहों और समुद्री क्षेत्र में घरेलू और अंतर्राष्ट्रीय दोनों निवेशों को बढ़ावा देना है। शिखर सम्मेलन ज्ञान और अवसरों के पारस्परिक आदान-प्रदान के लिए भागीदार देशों के साथ अंतरराष्ट्रीय सहयोग के लिए एक शक्तिशाली मंच प्रदान करेगा। आयोजन में लगभग एक लाख प्रतिनिधियों और 40 भागीदार देशों के भाग लेने की उम्मीद है।

बिडेन प्रशासन अंजलि भारद्वाज को करेगा एंटी-करप्शन पुरस्कार से सम्मानित

• भारतीय सामाज सेवी अंजलि भारद्वाज, जो पारदर्शिता और जवाबदेही के मुद्दों पर काम करती हैं, को बिडेन प्रशासन द्वारा नए शुरू किए गए अंतर्राष्ट्रीय भ्रष्टाचार-रोधी चैंपियंस पुरस्कार (International Anti-Corruption Champions Award) के लिए चुने गए 12 “courageous” व्यक्तियों में शामिल किया गया है।
• 48 वर्षीय भारद्वाज ने दो दशक से अधिक समय से भारत में सूचना के अधिकार के एक सक्रिय सदस्य के रूप में काम किया है। वह एक नागरिक समूह, सतर्क नागरिक संगठन (एसएनएस) की संस्थापक है, जो सरकार में पारदर्शिता और जवाबदेही को बढ़ावा देता है और नागरिकों की सक्रिय भागीदारी को प्रोत्साहित करता है।

भारत, एआईआईबी ने असम बिजली पारेषण में सुधार के लिए समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए

• भारत सरकार और एशियन इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर इन्वेस्टमेंट बैंक (AIIB) ने असम इंट्रा-स्टेट ट्रांसमिशन सिस्टम एनहांसमेंट प्रोजेक्ट के लिए 23 फरवरी, 2021 को $ 304 मिलियन का ऋण समझौता किया है। परियोजना का लक्ष्य पूर्वोत्तर राज्य असम में बिजली पारेषण नेटवर्क की विश्वसनीयता, क्षमता और सुरक्षा में सुधार करना है।
• इसमें 10 ट्रांसमिशन सबस्टेशनों का निर्माण करना और संबंधित बुनियादी ढांचे के साथ ट्रांसमिशन लाइनें बिछाने, 15 मौजूदा सबस्टेशनों को अपग्रेड करना और ऑप्टिकल पावर ग्राउंड वायर को ट्रांसमिशन लाइनों और मौजूदा ग्राउंड वायर को शामिल करना एवं परियोजना कार्यान्वयन में सहायता के लिए तकनीकी सहायता प्रदान करना शामिल है।
• परियोजना की कुल अनुमानित लागत $ 365 मिलियन है। एआईआईबी $ 304 मिलियन का वित्त पोषण करेगा जबकि $ 61 मिलियन का शेष धन राज्य सरकार द्वारा किया जाएगा।

Spacecraft Named in Honor of Black Woman ‘hidden Figures’ Mathematician

• A space supply ship, Cygnus NG-15 cargo dubbed as ‘S.S. Katherine Johnson has been named in honour of Katherine Johnson, a Black NASA mathematician, who played a critical role in the success of the first U.S. crewed spaceflight, Mercury-Atlas 6 Mission. The S.S. Katherine Johnson arrived on February 22, 2021, and will be at the International Space Station until May 2021.

Cygnus NG-15 cargo:

• A Northrop Grumman-built Cygnus cargo ship, a space supply ship, was launched by NASA on February 20, 2021, from Virginia to carry vital supplies for astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS).
• The launch coincided with the 59th anniversary of America’s first orbit around the Earth. On 20 February 1962, astronaut John Glenn, became the first American to orbit Earth.
• The space supply ship carried more than 8,200 lbs. (3,719 kilograms) of cargo including scientific equipment, fresh food and supplies, new hardware and spacewalk equipment for the seven astronauts onboard the International Space Station.
• Mrs Johnson was a pioneering mathematician known for her hand-written calculations. She helped astronaut John Glenn, to become the first American to orbit Earth, after personally verifying his Mercury missions’ orbital trajectory calculations. Her contributions were also featured in the Oscar-nominated film Hidden Figures.

Rajnath Singh inaugurates 26th edition of ‘Hunar Haat’

• Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has inaugurated the 26th edition of ‘Hunar Haat’ in New Delhi. The “Hunar Haat” will be held from February 21 to March 01, 2021, with the theme of “Vocal for Local”. More than 600 artisans and craftsmen from more than 31 states and UTs are participating.
• Through Hunar Haat, the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs aims to provide employment and employment opportunities to 7,50,000 artisans by organising 75 Hunar Haats by 2022, when India will celebrate its 75 years of Independence.
• The Hunar Haat is also available online at hunarhaat.org and on the Government e-Marketplace portal. Indians living abroad can buy products online as well.
• Hunar Haat is a beautiful exhibition of India’s traditional art and craft and brings together indigenous artisans and craftsmen from across the country for the display and sale of their exquisite indigenous handmade products.

 CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan Renames Hoshangabad as Narmadapuram

• Hoshangabad city in the state of Madhya Pradesh will be renamed Narmadapuram. This was announced by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan during the Narmada Jayanti programme held in Hoshangabad. Hoshangabad was earlier named after an attacker Hoshang Shah, the first ruler of Malwa.
• However, the city will now be called Narmadapuram, after the river Narmada, the lifeline of the state. The state government will now send a proposal to the Centre to change the name of Hoshangabad to Narmadapuram. The city is famous for its beautiful ghats along the banks of the Narmada river.

Karnataka to Host 2nd Khelo India University Games 2021

• The second edition of the Khelo India University Games (KIUG) 2021, is scheduled to be held in Karnataka. This announcement was made by the Karnataka Chief Minister, Shri BS Yediyurappa and Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Kiren Rijiju. The KIUG-2021 will be hosted by JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), Bengaluru, in partnership with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). In 2021, Yogasana and Mallakhamb have been added to the University Games, in an effort to preserve and promote the century-old sporting disciplines of the country.
• The games will be conducted in the U-25 age category in accordance with the World University Games norms.
• KIUG is the largest University Games in India and is aimed at tapping sporting talent who can represent India in international events, including the Olympics.
• The first edition of KIUG was held in Bhubaneswar in February 2020, and saw a total participation of 3182 athletes in the U-25 age group, across 158 universities and colleges from all states.

Former TRAI Chairman Rahul Khullar passes away

• Rahul Khullar, the former chairman of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has passed away. He was a 1975-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, who was appointed as TRAI chief in May 2012.
• He served at TRAI for three years. Prior to being appointed as TRAI chief, he was a secretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Trade.

Vijay Sampla takes charge as Chairman of National Commission for SC

• Former Union Minister Vijay Sampla has assumed the charge of Chairman National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC). He has been the former Union Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment from 2014 to 2019.
• NCSC is an Indian constitutional body under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, that works for the socio-economic development of the scheduled castes and to prevent atrocities against them.

 SUMMITS AND MOU’S

India, World Bank ink project for enhancing school education in Nagaland

• The Government of India, the Government of Nagaland and the World Bank signed a $68 million agreement for “Nagaland: Enhancing Classroom Teaching and Resources Project”, to enhance the governance of schools across Nagaland. The $68 million loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), has a final maturity of 14.5 years including a grace period of 5 (five) years.
• The “Nagaland: Enhancing Classroom Teaching and Resources Project” will improve classroom instruction; create opportunities for the professional development of teachers, and build technology systems to provide students and teachers with more access to blended and online learning as well as allow better monitoring of policies and programmes.
• As many as 1,50,000 students and 20,000 teachers in the government education system in Nagaland will benefit from the statewide reforms in schools.

 India signs trade deal, $100 million defence agreement with Mauritius

• The Indian foreign minister S Jaishankar was on an official visit to two key Indian Ocean region countries- Maldives and Mauritius. The External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar visited the Island nation Mauritius to review the comprehensive and important bilateral relationship between the two nations. India signed a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) or (Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Partnership Agreement-(CECPA)) with Mauritius.
• The FTA or CECPA is the first such pact with any African country, and will help Mauritius to emerge as a “hub of Africa”.
• India has also offered a USD 100 million Line of Credit (LoC) to Mauritius to facilitate the procurement of defence assets.
• Apart from this, an agreement has also been signed between the two countries to provide a Dornier aircraft and an Advanced Light Helicopter Dhruv on lease to Mauritius on a gratis basis for 2 years, so that the country can carry out patrolling activities and monitor its vast maritime domain more effectively.
• India delivered 100,000 doses of Made in India COVID-19 vaccines to the country. It had supplied 100,000 doses earlier. Both the countries also signed MoU on Consumer Protection and a Contract for an 8 MW solar plant.

 PM Narendra Modi To Inaugurate 2nd Edition of ‘Maritime India Summit’

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the virtual Maritime India Summit (MIS) 2021, from March 2 to 4, 2021. The ‘Maritime India Summit 2021’ is the flagship initiative of the Union Ministry of State for Ports, Shipping & Waterways (MoPSW), Government of India. FICCI is the industry partner for the summit.
• The theme of the event is “Exploring the potential business opportunities in the Indian Maritime sector and making Aatmanirbhar Bharat”.
• The objective of the Summit is to promote both domestic and international investment in the Indian Ports and Maritime sector. The summit will provide a powerful platform for international collaboration with partner countries for mutual exchange of knowledge and opportunities. Around one lakh delegates and 40 partner countries are expected to participate in the event.

Biden admn names Anjali Bharadwaj for anti-corruption award

• Anjali Bharadwaj, an Indian social activist working on issues of transparency and accountability, is one of the 12 “courageous” individuals named by the Biden administration for the newly-instituted International Anti-Corruption Champions Award.
• The 48-year-old Bhardwaj has served as an active member of the Right to Information Movement in India for over two decades. She is the founder of the Satark Nagrik Sangathan (SNS), a citizens’ group which promotes transparency and accountability in government and encourage the active participation of citizens.

India, AIIB sign agreement to improve Assam power transmission

• The Government of India and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has signed a $304 million loan agreement on February 23, 2021, for the Assam Intra-State Transmission System Enhancement Project. The project aims to improve the reliability, capacity and security of the power transmission network in the northeastern state of Assam.
• It includes constructing 10 transmission substations and laying transmission lines with the associated infrastructure, upgrade 15 existing substations, and transmission lines and existing ground wire to optical power ground wire and provide technical assistance to support project implementation.
• The total estimated cost of the project is $365 million. AIIB will finance $304 million while the remaining funding of $61 million will be done by the state government.
