उत्तराखंड के मुख्यमंत्री ने एकीकृत मॉडल कृषि ग्राम योजना की शुरुआत की

• उत्तराखंड के मुख्यमंत्री त्रिवेंद्र सिंह रावत ने नाबार्ड के साथ साझेदारी में राज्य में एकीकृत आदर्श कृषि ग्राम योजना (Integrated Model Agricultural Village scheme) का उद्घाटन किया है।
• राज्य के कृषि मंत्री सुबोध उनियाल ने राष्ट्रीय कृषि और ग्रामीण विकास बैंक (नाबार्ड) के अध्यक्ष जी. आर. चिन्टला से आग्रह किया कि वे उत्पादकता बढ़ाने के लिए मशीनीकृत खेती पर जोर देते हुए, किसानों को मशीनी खेती में परिवर्तित करने में मदद करें।

जाने-माने प्लेबैक सिंगर और अभिनेता के जे मोहम्मद का निधन

• प्लेबैक सिंगर, संगीत निर्देशक और अभिनेता के जे मोहम्मद बाबू का निधन, उन्हें 'जीरो' बाबू के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। उन्हें संगीत नाटक अकादमी पुरस्कार से भी सम्मानित किया जा चुका है।
• उन्होंने लगभग 90 फिल्मों और विभिन्न नाटकों में गाने गाए है। उनकी पहली फिल्म 1964 की 'कुदुंबिनी' फिल्म थी।

• लोकप्रिय भारतीय क्रिकेटर और मुंबई इंडियंस के कप्तान रोहित शर्मा को भारत के प्रमुख ब्यूटी प्रोडक्ट ब्रांड Vega ने अपने मेन्स पर्सनल ग्रूमिंग इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स रेंज ‘Vega Men’ brand के लिए ब्रांड एंबेसडर साइन किया है।
• रोहित शर्मा इसके आगामी डिजिटल अभियान में ‘Vega Men’ रेंज के लिए ब्रांड एंबेसडर के रूप में प्रचार करते दिखेंगे।

 सुशील कुमार सिंघल को नियुक्त किया गया सोलोमन द्वीप अगला राजदूत

• सुशील कुमार सिंघल, 2000 बैच के IFS अधिकारी, को पोर्ट मोरेसबी में निवास के साथ समवर्ती रूप से सोलोमन द्वीप समूह में भारत के अगले उच्चायुक्त के रूप में मान्यता दी गई है।
• वे वर्तमान में पापुआ न्यू गिनी में भारत के उच्चायुक्त के रूप में कार्यरत हैं।

 नीना मल्होत्रा होंगी सैन मैरिनो गणराज्य में भारत की अगली राजदूत

• भारतीय राजनयिक डॉ. नीना मल्होत्रा, 1992 बैच की भारतीय विदेश सेवा की अधिकारी, को रोम में निवास के साथ समवर्ती रूप से सैन मैरिनो गणराज्य में भारत के अगले राजदूत के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया है।
• वर्तमान में, वह इटली गणराज्य में भारत के राजदूत के रूप में सेवारत हैं।

विश्व हिम तेंदुआ दिवस: 23 अक्टूबर

• विश्व स्तर पर 23 अक्टूबर को World Snow Leopard Day यानि विश्व हिम तेंदुआ दिवस मनाया जाता है। इस दिन को मनाने का मुख्य उद्देश्य हिम तेंदुए के संरक्षण के महत्व को दर्शाना और इस अद्भुत जानवर के बारे में जागरूकता बढ़ाना है।
• इस दिन को अवैध शिकार रोकने के उपायों पर भी जोर देने के साथ-साथ इसे हिम तेंदुए की सीमा वाले देशों में एक पर्यावरण संगठन के संदर्भ में प्रयासों को मजबूत करने के लिए भी मनाया है है।

डॉ. जैजिनी वर्गीस को आउटस्टैंडिंग यंग पर्सन 2020 से किया जाएगा सम्मानित

• ब्रिटेन की भारतीय मूल की प्लास्टिक सर्जन डॉ. जैजिनी वर्गीस को स्तन कैंसर के निदान और उपचार के लिए उनके "अविश्वसनीय" वैज्ञानिक योगदान के लिए एक गैर-लाभकारी एनजीओ द्वारा Outstanding Young Person of the World 2020’ चुना गया है।
• वर्गीज को स्तन कैंसर से प्रभावित लाखों महिलाओं के जीवन को बचाने करने के लिए शुरू किए गए उनके व्यक्तिगत मिशन के लिए "मेडिकल इनोवेशन" श्रेणी के अंतर्गत जापान के योकोहामा में विश्व कांग्रेस में 2020 जूनियर चैम्बर इंटरनेशनल (JCI) में एक समारोह के दौरान सम्मानित किया जाएगा। यूके में, वह प्लास्टिक सर्जरी (FRCS) में रॉयल कॉलेज ऑफ सर्जन्स की फेलो है और रॉयल कॉलेज ऑफ सर्जन (MRCS) की सदस्य है। इसके अलावा वह यूनिवर्सिटी कॉलेज लंदन (यूसीएल) में प्लास्टिक सर्जरी में एमएससी के लिए बोर्ड ऑफ एक्जामिनर्स भी हैं।

इंडियन बैंक और आईआईटी-मद्रास ने स्टार्ट-अप को फंडिंग के लिए की साझेदारी

• इंडियन बैंक ने IIT-मद्रास इनक्यूबेशन सेल (IITMIC) के सहयोग से स्टार्ट-अप्स को फंडिंग करने के लिए ‘IND Spring Board’ नामक पहल की शुरूआत की है। चेन्नई-मुख्यालय वाला बैंक का उद्देश्य IITMIC के सहयोग से स्टार्ट-अप के लिए वित्त पोषण के अंतर को कम करना है।
• इस साझेदारी के तहत, IITMIC, बेहतर तकनीक के साथ स्टार्ट-अप को संदर्भित करेगा और बैंक को नकदी प्रवाह बनाने में मदद करेगा और साथ ही व्यवसाय मॉडल पर बैंक को सलाह भी प्रदान करेगा। इसके अलावा बैंक अपनी कार्यशील पूंजी आवश्यकताओं या मशीनरी, उपकरण की खरीद के लिए इन स्टार्ट-अप्स को 50 करोड़ तक के ऋण का विस्तार करेगा।

Uttarakhand CM launches Integrated Model Agricultural Village scheme

• Uttarakhand Chief Minister, Trivendra Singh Rawat has inaugurated Integrated Model Agricultural Village scheme (Ekikrit Adarsh Krishi Gram Yojana) in the state in partnership with NABARD.
• Putting emphasis on mechanised farming for boosting productivity, state Agriculture Minister Subodh Uniyal urged National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) Chairman G R Chintala to lend a helping hand to farmers to switch over to mechanised farming.

Playback singer and actor K J Mohammed passes away

• Playback singer, music director and actor K J Mohammed Babu, popularly known as ‘Zero’ Babu passed away.
• He was a recipient of the Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Award. He has sung in nearly 90 films and various plays. His first movie was the 1964 film 'Kudumbini'.

• Ace Indian cricketer and Captain of Mumbai Indians, Rohit Sharma has been signed up by India’s leading beauty accessories brand, Vega, for its men’s personal grooming electronics range under the ‘Vega Men’ brand.
• Rohit Sharma will feature as the brand ambassador for ‘Vega Men’ range in the upcoming digital campaign.

Sushil Kumar Singhal appointed as next Ambassador to Solomon Islands

• Sushil Kumar Singhal, a 2000-batch IFS officer, has been concurrently accredited as the next High Commissioner of India to the Solomon Islands.
• He is presently serving as the High Commissioner of India to the Independent State of Papua New Guinea.

Neena Malhotra appointed as Ambassador to Republic of San Marino

• Indian diplomat Dr Neena Malhotra, 1992-batch Indian Foreign Service officer, appointed as next Ambassador to the Republic of San Marino. She will have a residence in Rome.
• Presently, she is serving as the Ambassador of India to the Republic of Italy.

World Snow Leopard Day: 23 October

• World Snow Leopard Day is observed globally on 23rd October. The main purpose of this day is to show the importance of snow leopard conservation and raise awareness about this incredible animal.
• The day also emphasizes the importance of taking measures to stop poaching, as well as consolidating efforts in terms of an environmental organization in the countries of the snow leopard range.

 AWARDS AND RECOGNITION

Dr Jajini Varghese honoured with Outstanding Young Person 2020

• UK-based Indian-origin plastic surgeon, Dr Jajini Varghese has been named an ‘Outstanding Young Person of the World 2020’ by a non-profit NGO for her “incredible” scientific contributions to diagnosing and treating breast cancer.
• Varghese has been recognised in the “Medical Innovation” category for making it her personal mission to attempt to restore the lives of millions of women affected by breast cancer and will be presented with the award at a ceremony at the 2020 Junior Chamber International (JCI) World Congress in Yokohama, Japan.
• In the UK, she is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Plastic Surgery (FRCS) and a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS). She is also on the Board of Examiners for the MSc in Plastic Surgery at University College London (UCL).

 BANKING AND ECONOMY

Indian Bank, IIT-Madras in pact for start-up funding

• Indian Bank has introduced an initiative for funding start-ups, ‘IND Spring Board’, in collaboration with the IIT-Madras Incubation Cell (IITMIC).
• The Chennai-headquartered bank seeks to bridge the gap in funding for start-ups through this collaboration with IITMIC.
• Under the deal, IITMIC will refer start-ups with proven technology and established cash flows to the bank and also extend advisory to the bank on the business model.
• The bank will extend loans of up to 50 crores to these start-ups for their working capital requirements or purchase of machinery, equipment.
