जाम्बिया राष्ट्रपति चुनाव: हाकैंडे हिचिलेमा चुनाव जीते

• ज़ाम्बिया में, यूनाइटेड पार्टी फॉर नेशनल डेवलपमेंट के विपक्षी नेता हकैंडे हिचिलेमा ने देश के 2021 के आम राष्ट्रपति चुनाव में जीत हासिल की है। 59 वर्षीय हिचिलेमा ने कुल वोट का 59.38% जीतकर शानदार जीत हासिल की। वह पैट्रियटिक फ्रंट के मौजूदा राष्ट्रपति एडगर लुंगु का स्थान लेंगे।
• पिछले वर्ष, अफ्रीका के दूसरे सबसे बड़े तांबे के खनिक ज़ाम्बिया ने धातु का रिकॉर्ड उत्पादन किया।

मलेशियाई प्रधान मंत्री मुहीदीन यासीन और उनके मंत्रिमंडल ने संसद में विश्वास मत हारने के कारण इस्तीफा दे दिया

• मलेशिया के प्रधान मंत्री, मुहिद्दीन यासीन और उनके मंत्रिमंडल ने संसद में विश्वास मत हारने के बाद इस्तीफा दे दिया। 74 वर्षीय मुहिद्दीन मार्च 2020 में सत्ता में आए। हालांकि वह एक उत्तराधिकारी के नाम तक एक कार्यवाहक प्रधान मंत्री के रूप में बने रहेंगे।
• इस्तीफे ने मलेशिया को राजनीतिक उथल-पुथल में और भी गहरा कर दिया, जबकि यह विश्‍व के सबसे खराब वायरस में से एक के साथ संघर्ष करता है। लगभग 32 मिलियन लोगों के देश में पिछले 14 दिनों में प्रतिदिन औसतन 20,000 से अधिक मामले सामने आए हैं, और केवल 33 प्रतिशत आबादी को पूरी तरह से टीका लगाया गया है। देश में महामारी से मरने वालों की कुल संख्या कम से कम 12,510 है।

जम्मू कश्मीर के उपराज्यपाल मनोज सिन्हा ने PROOF ऐप लॉन्च किया

• जम्मू और कश्मीर में, उपराज्यपाल मनोज सिन्हा ने शासन प्रणाली में अधिक पारदर्शिता और जवाबदेही लाने के लिए PROOF नामक एक मोबाइल एप्लिकेशन का अनावरण किया है। PROOF का मतलब 'ऑन-साइट सुविधा का फोटोग्राफिक रिकॉर्ड (Photographic Record of On-site Facility)' है। इस ऐप का मुख्य उद्देश्य केंद्र शासित प्रदेश के विभिन्न विभागों को आवंटित सभी परियोजनाओं की कार्य प्रगति की निगरानी करना और इन परियोजनाओं को समय पर पूरा करना सुनिश्चित करना है।
• ऐप अपने भौगोलिक निर्देशांक यानी अक्षांश और देशांतर और कार्य प्रगति पर उपयोगकर्ता टिप्पणियों के साथ काम का पूरा चित्रमय दृश्य देगा।

 आईएनएस Tabar इंग्लैंड के पोर्ट्समाउथ पहुंचा, कोंकण अभ्यास 2021 में लिया भाग

• भारतीय नौसेना और ब्रिटेन की रॉयल नेवी के बीच वार्षिक द्विपक्षीय ड्रिल 'एक्सरसाइज कोंकण 2021' करने के लिए भारतीय नौसेना का जहाज तबर इंग्लैंड के पोर्ट्समाउथ पहुंचा। दोनों नौसेनाओं के बीच अंतरसंचालनीयता, तालमेल और सहयोग बढ़ाने के लिए 2004 से प्रतिवर्ष द्विपक्षीय नौसैनिक अभ्यास कोंकण आयोजित किया जा रहा है। ब्रिटेन की ओर से रॉयल नेवी के एचएमएस वेस्टमिंस्टर ने हिस्सा लिया।

हॉकी स्टार वंदना कटारिया बनी एंबेसडर

• उत्तराखंड के मुख्यमंत्री पुष्कर सिंह धामी ने घोषणा की है कि भारतीय महिला हॉकी टीम की खिलाड़ी वंदना कटारिया राज्य के महिला अधिकारिता और बाल विकास विभाग की ब्रांड एंबेसडर होंगी। यह घोषणा तीलू रौतेली पुरस्कार और आंगनवाड़ी कार्यकर्ता पुरस्कार के विजेताओं को सम्मानित करने के लिए आयोजित एक कार्यक्रम में हुई।
• इससे पहले, धामी ने टोक्यो ओलंपिक में शानदार प्रदर्शन के लिए भारतीय महिला हॉकी टीम की खिलाड़ी वंदना कटारिया को 25 लाख रुपये के नकद इनाम की घोषणा की थी।

माकी काजी के निर्माता, सुडोकू पहेली का निधन हो गया

• पहेली सुडोकू के निर्माता माकी काजी का 69 वर्ष की आयु में पित्त नली के कैंसर के कारण निधन हो गया। वह सोडोकू के पिता के रूप में जाने जाते थे और जापान से थे। वह एक जापानी पहेली निर्माता निकोली कंपनी लिमिटेड के अध्यक्ष थे।
• काजी ने 1980 में दोस्तों के साथ जापान की पहली पहेली पत्रिका, पहेली त्सुशिन निकोली की स्थापना की। 1983 में सुडोकू उनकी सबसे प्रसिद्ध रचना ।

पुडुचेरी में मनाया गया: डी ज्यूर ट्रांसफर डे

• पुदुचेरी ने 16 अगस्त को अपना कानूनी हस्तांतरण दिवस (De Jure Transfer day) मनाया।पुदुचेरी विधानसभा के अध्यक्ष आर. सेल्वम ने पुडुचेरी के एक दूरदराज के गांव किज्हुर में स्मारक पर 1वह दिन है जब इसे वास्तव में स्वतंत्रता मिली थी। 1947 के बाद तत्कालीन पोंडीचेरी फ्रांस के नियंत्रण में था।
• फ्रांसीसी और भारतीय सरकारों के बीच हस्ताक्षरित संधि की संधि को केवल 16 अगस्त, 1962 को फ्रांसीसी संसद द्वारा अनुमोदित किया गया था। इसलिए उस दिन "डी-जुरे" (भारतीय संघ के साथ संघ राज्य क्षेत्र का कानूनी विलय) प्रभावी हुआ था। जनमत संग्रह में 178 प्रतिनिधियों ने भाग लिया जिसमें 170 ने भारत के साथ विलय के पक्ष में और 8 ने इसके खिलाफ मतदान किया।

भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक ने वित्तीय समावेशन सूचकांक लॉन्च किया

• भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक ने वित्तीय समावेशन सूचकांक (FI-Index) पेश किया है, जो भारत में वित्तीय समावेशन की सीमा का एक उपाय है। FI-इंडेक्स में भारत में बैंकिंग, निवेश, बीमा, डाक और पेंशन क्षेत्र के समावेशन विवरण शामिल हैं। यह इस वर्ष अप्रैल में पहली द्विमासिक मौद्रिक नीति में की गई घोषणाओं में से एक था।
• एफआई-इंडेक्स का मूल्य 0 से 100 के बीच होगा। जहां 0 पूर्ण वित्तीय बहिष्करण को दर्शाता है जबकि 100 पूर्ण वित्तीय समावेशन को दर्शाता है।
• एफआई-इंडेक्स के पैरामीटर: एफआई-इंडेक्स में तीन पैरामीटर शामिल हैं, अर्थात्- एक्सेस (35%), उपयोग (45%), और गुणवत्ता (20%) इनमें से प्रत्येक में विभिन्न आयाम शामिल हैं, जिनकी गणना संकेतकों की संख्या के आधार पर की जाती है । कुल 97 संकेतक हैं।

Zambia Presidential Election : Hakainde Hichilema won

• In Zambia, opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema, of the United Party for National Development, has won the 2021 general Presidential election of the country.
• The 59-year-old Hichilema won with a landslide victory, winning 59.38% of the total vote. He will replace incumbent President Edgar Lungu of the Patriotic Front. Last year, Zambia, Africa’s second-biggest copper miner, produced a record output of the metal.

Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and his cabinet resigns due to losing a confidence vote in parliament

• The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Muhyiddin Yassin and his cabinet resigned after losing a confidence vote in parliament. The 74-year-old Muhyiddin came to power in March 2020. He will however stay on as a caretaker prime minister until a successor is named.
• The resignations plunged Malaysia even deeper into political turmoil while it contends with one of the world’s worst surges of the virus. The nation of about 32 million people has averaged more than 20,000 cases per day in the last 14 days, and just 33 per cent of the population is fully vaccinated. The total death toll from the pandemic in the country is at least 12,510.

Lieutenant Governor of Jammu Kashmir, Manoj Sinha launched PROOF App

• In Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has unveiled a mobile application named PROOF, to bring more transparency and accountability in the governance system. PROOF stands for ‘Photographic Record of On-site Facility’. The main objective of this app is to monitor the work progress of all the projects allocated to different departments of the UT and ensure timely completion of these projects.
• The app will give a complete pictorial view of the work along with its geographical coordinates i.e. latitude and longitude and user comments on work progress

INS Tabar arrived at Portsmouth in England, Participates in Exercise Konkan 2021

• The Indian Naval Ship Tabar arrived at Portsmouth in England, to undertake the annual bilateral drill ‘Exercise Konkan 2021’ between the Indian Navy and Britain’s Royal Navy.
• The bilateral naval exercise Konkan is being held every year since 2004, to enhance the interoperability, synergy and cooperation between both navies. HMS Westminster of the Royal Navy took part from Britain’s side.

Renowned footwall player Lionel Messi signs for Paris St Germain after leaving Barcelona

• Lionel Messi joined star-packed Paris St Germain after leaving Barcelona, the club where he had begun, after 21 years. Messi, a six-time winner of the Ballon d’Or for Europe’s best soccer player, signed a two-year contract with an option for a third year. Paris Saint-Germain Football Club, commonly referred to as Paris Saint-Germain or PSG.
• Messi leaves Barcelona with 672 goals in 778 appearances, a record tally for one club. His trophy haul includes four Champions Leagues and 10 La Liga titles.

Raunak Sadhwani won the Spilimbergo Open Chess Tournament 2021

• A 15-year-old young Indian Grandmaster Raunak Sadhwani has won the 19th Spilimbergo Open chess tournament in Italy. The fourth-seeded Sadhwani, who hails from Nagpur, remained undefeated in the tournament, with seven points from nine rounds, in which claimed five wins and four draws.
• In the ninth and final round, Sadhwani and Italian GM Pier Luigi Basso finished level on seven points, but the Indian was declared the winner on the basis of a better tie-break score.

Hockey star Vandana Katariya become ambassador

• Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced that Indian women’s hockey team player Vandana Katariya will be the brand ambassador of the state’s Department of Women Empowerment and Child Development. The announcement came at a program organized to felicitate the recipients of awardees of the Tilu Rauteli Award and the Anganwadi Workers Award.
• Earlier, Dhami had announced a cash reward of Rs 25 lakh to Indian women’s hockey team player Vandana Katariya for her brilliant performance at the Tokyo Olympics.

Creator of the Maki Kaji, Sudoku puzzle passed away

• Maki Kaji, the creator of puzzle Sudoku passed away at the age of 69 years due to bile duct cancer. He was known as the father of Sodoku and was from Japan. He was the president of Nikoli Co., Ltd., a Japanese puzzle manufacturer.
• Kaji established Japan’s first puzzle magazine, Puzzle Tsushin Nikoli, with pals in 1980. His most legendary creation, Sudoku, followed in 1983.

Puducherry celebrated: De Jure Transfer day

• Puducherry on 16th August celebrated its De Jure Transfer day. Speaker of the Puducherry Assembly, R. Selvam, paid floral tributes at the memorial in Kizhur, a remote hamlet in Puducherry, where the transfer of power took place on the same day in 1962. De Jure Transfer Day is the day it really got independence. The then Pondicherry was under French control well after 1947.
• The treaty of cession signed between the French and Indian governments was ratified by the French Parliament only on August 16, 1962. So on that day the “De-Jure”(The Legal Merger of the UT with the Indian Union) was effected. 178 representatives participated in the referendum in which 170 voted in favour of a merger with India and 8 against it.

 BANKING AND ECONOMIC

Reserve Bank of India launched the Financial Inclusion Index

• The Reserve Bank of India has introduced the Financial Inclusion Index (FI-Index), which is a measure of the extent of financial inclusion in India. FI-Index incorporates the inclusion details of banking, investments, insurance, postal and pension sector in India. This was among the announcements made in the first bimonthly monetary policy in April this year.
• The value of FI-Index will range between 0 to 100. Where 0 denotes complete financial exclusion while 100 denotes full financial inclusion.
• Parameters of FI-Index: The FI-Index comprises of three parameters, namely- Access (35%), Usage (45%), and Quality (20%) with each of these consisting of various dimensions, which are computed based on a number of indicators. In total there are 97 indicators.
