इंडियन कोस्टगार्ड के OPV सुजीत को गोवा में किया गया कमीशन

• भारतीय तटरक्षक बल (Indian Coast Guard) OPV श्रृंखला के 5 में से दूसरे ऑफशोर पेट्रोल वेसल (OPV) ‘सुजीत’ को गोवा के वास्को टाउन में राज कुमार, सचिव (रक्षा उत्पादन) द्वारा गोवा शिपयार्ड लिमिटेड (GSL) में कमीशन किया गया था।
• पोत को जीएसएल द्वारा स्वदेशी रूप से डिजाइन और निर्मित किया गया है। इस श्रृंखला का पहला जहाज - ICG Ship सचेत को मई 2020 में केंद्रीय रक्षा मंत्री राजनाथ सिंह द्वारा कमीशन किया गया था। इस पोत को भारतीय तट रक्षक महानिदेशक के नटराजन और अन्य की उपस्थिति में कमीशन किया गया था।
• सुजीत को इंटीग्रेटेड ब्रिज सिस्टम, इंटीग्रेटेड प्लेटफॉर्म मैनेजमेंट सिस्टम, पावर मैनेजमेंट सिस्टम और हाई पावर एक्सटर्नल फायर-फाइटिंग जैसे फीचर्स से लैस किया गया है।
• यह बोर्डिंग ऑपरेशन, खोज और बचाव, कानून प्रवर्तन और समुद्री गश्त के लिए 1 ट्विन-इंजन हेलीकॉप्टर, 4 हाई-स्पीड बोट, 2 इन्फेटबल बोट ले जाने में सक्षम है।
• जहाज गोवा को तैनात किया जाएगा और इसे EEZ (एक्सक्लूसिव इकोनॉमिक ज़ोन) निगरानी और अन्य कर्तव्यों के लिए बड़े पैमाने पर तैनात किया जाएगा।
• जहाज 105 मीटर लंबा और 2400 टन वजनी होगा।
• ICG ने कहा है कि वर्तमान में उसके पास 155 जहाज और 62 एयरक्राफ्ट हैं, साथ ही शिपयार्ड के 35 और जहाज निर्माण के विभिन्न चरणों में है।

महाराष्ट्र सरकार ने रियल एस्टेट के लिए नए यूनिफाइड डेवलपमेंट कंट्रोल नियमों को दी मंजूरी

• महाराष्ट्र सरकार ने राज्य के रियल एस्टेट निर्माण कानूनों में एकरूपता लाने और मजबूत बनाने के लिए यूनिफाइड डेवलपमेंट कंट्रोल एंड प्रमोशन रेगुलेशंस (UDCPR) को मंजूरी दे दी है। नियमों का यह एकसमान सेट इमारतों की ऊंचाई से लेकर सड़कों की चौड़ाई और सुख सुविधा स्पेस के आकार तक सब कुछ निर्दिष्ट करेगा।
• नियमों का यह नया सेट मुंबई और कुछ निकटवर्ती क्षेत्रों जैसे हिल स्टेशन, पर्यावरण-संवेदनशील क्षेत्र और निर्दिष्ट निगम क्षेत्र को छोड़कर पूरे राज्य के सभी नगर निगमों, परिषदों और नगर पंचायतों पर लागू होगा।
• यह किफायती आवास परियोजनाओं के स्टॉक को बढ़ाने में मदद करेगा और व्यापार करने में आसानी के साथ-साथ डेवलपर्स को अपने संसाधन प्रबंधन को बेहतर बनाने में मदद करेगा।

ऑस्ट्रेलिया के पूर्व टेस्ट क्रिकेटर ऑलराउंडर एरिक फ्रीमैन का निधन

• ऑस्ट्रेलिया के पूर्व टेस्ट ऑलराउंडर एरिक फ्रीमैन (Eric Freeman) का निधन हो गया। उन्होंने 1968 में भारत के खिलाफ गाबा (ब्रिस्बेन क्रिकेट ग्राउंड) में टेस्ट क्रिकेट में डेब्यू किया था, जिसके दौरान उन्होंने शुरुआती स्कोरिंग छक्का लगाकर की थी, और जिसे वह उपलब्धि हासिल करने वाले पहले खिलाड़ी बने थे।
• फ्रीमैन को खेल के लिए उनकी सेवाओं के लिए 2002 में मैडल ऑफ द ऑडर ऑफ ऑस्ट्रेलिया से सम्मानित किया गया था। 1973-74 सीज़न में क्रिकेट से संन्यास लेने के बाद उन्होंने प्रशासक, कोच और ब्रॉडकास्टर के रूप में काम किया था। फ्रीमैन एक कुलीन फुटबॉल खिलाड़ी भी थे, जो पोर्ट एडिलेड का प्रतिनिधित्व करते थे और जो अपने सभी पांच सत्रों में क्लब की गोलकीपिंग सूची में सबसे ऊपर था।

 एयरोस्पेस वैज्ञानिक रोडम नरसिम्हा का निधन

• प्रख्यात एयरोस्पेस वैज्ञानिक और पद्म विभूषण से सम्मानित रोडम नरसिम्हा का निधन हो गया। उन्होंने प्रतिष्ठित भारतीय विज्ञान संस्थान (IISc) में सेवाए दी थी, जहाँ उन्होंने 1962 से 1999 तक एयरोस्पेस इंजीनियरिंग की शिक्षा दी थी। उन्होंने 1984 से 1993 तक राष्ट्रीय एयरोस्पेस प्रयोगशालाओं (National Aerospace Laboratories) के निदेशक के रूप में भी कार्य किया।
• केंद्र सरकार ने एयरोस्पेस इंजीनियरिंग के क्षेत्र में उनके योगदान के लिए साल 2013 में उन्हें भारत के दूसरे सबसे सर्वोच्च नागरिक पुरस्कार, पद्म विभूषण से सम्मानित किया था। प्रोफेसर नरसिम्हा ने भारत के मिसाइल मैन और पूर्व राष्ट्रपति डॉ. ए. पी. जे. अब्दुल कलाम के साथ मिलकर एक “Developments In Fluid Mechanics and Space Technology” शीर्षक एक किताब भी लिखी थी।

प्रसार भारती के सीईओ शशि शेखर वेम्पति होंगे ABU के उपाध्यक्ष

• प्रसार भारती के CEO शशि शेखर वेम्पति को तीन साल की अवधि के लिए एशिया पैसिफिक ब्रॉडकास्टिंग यूनियन (ABU) का उपाध्यक्ष चुना गया है। प्रसार भारती भारत की सबसे बड़ी सार्वजनिक प्रसारण एजेंसी है।
• मलेशिया की राजधानी कुआलालंपुर स्थित एशिया पैसिफिक ब्रॉडकास्टिंग यूनियन (ABU) दुनिया में सबसे बड़े प्रसारण संगठनों में से एक है।

 सम्मेलन एवं समझौते

भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था का समर्थन करने के लिए एनडीबी के साथ 1 बिलियन डॉलर का ऋण समझौता

• भारत सरकार और न्यू डेवलपमेंट बैंक (NDB) ने C-19 से भारत की आर्थिक सुधार का समर्थन करने के लिए 1,000 मिलियन डॉलर के ऋण समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं। ऋण में 5 साल की छूट अवधि सहित 30 वर्ष का कार्यकाल है। कार्यक्रम सी -19 महामारी के प्रतिकूल आर्थिक प्रभाव को कम करने में भारत सरकार का समर्थन करेगा और ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों में आर्थिक सुधार को सक्षम करेगा।
• ऋण महात्मा गांधी राष्ट्रीय ग्रामीण रोजगार गारंटी योजना (MGNREGS) के तहत प्राकृतिक संसाधन प्रबंधन (NRM) और ग्रामीण रोजगार सृजन से संबंधित ग्रामीण बुनियादी ढांचे पर व्यय का समर्थन करेगा।
• यह कार्यक्रम C-19 महामारी के प्रतिकूल आर्थिक प्रभाव को कम करने में सरकार का समर्थन करेगा और प्राकृतिक संसाधन प्रबंधन कार्यों के माध्यम से ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों में आर्थिक सुधार को सक्षम करेगा जो ग्रामीण मांग को प्रोत्साहित करने के लिए आर्थिक गतिविधि और रोजगार सृजन की सुविधा प्रदान करेगा।

• नार्वे इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ बायोइकोनॉमी रिसर्च (NIBIO) ने भारत में कीचड़ प्रबंधन ढांचे के विकास के लिए स्वच्छ गंगा राष्ट्रीय मिशन (NMCG) के थिंक-टैंक cGanga के साथ एक समझौता ज्ञापन पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं। इस पहल के माध्यम से, नॉर्वे भारत के साथ विशेष रूप से जलवायु परिवर्तन और पर्यावरण के संरक्षण की रोकथाम में संबंधों को मजबूत करेगा।
• एमओयू पर हस्ताक्षर 10-15 दिसंबर 2020 तक आयोजित भारत जल प्रभाव 2020 के 5 वें संस्करण के दौरान किए गए। यह कार्यक्रम नेशनल मिशन फॉर क्लीन गंगा और सेंटर फॉर गंगा रिवर बेसिन मैनेजमेंट एंड स्टडीज द्वारा सह-आयोजित किया गया है।

भारत और विश्व बैंक के बीच भारत के गरीबों की रक्षा के लिए 400 मिलियन डॉलर की परियोजना पर हस्ताक्षर

• भारत सरकार और विश्व बैंक ने C-19 से प्रभावित देश भर में शहरी और पेरी-शहरी क्षेत्रों में कमजोर समूहों की रक्षा के लिए 400 मिलियन डॉलर की एक परियोजना पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं। यह भारत की सी -19 सामाजिक सुरक्षा प्रतिक्रिया कार्यक्रम 'की श्रृंखला में दूसरी ऐसी सहायता है। पहले ऑपरेशन के तहत, विश्व बैंक द्वारा मई 2020 में 750 मिलियन डॉलर की मंजूरी दी गई थी।
• विश्व बैंक सी -19 महामारी से गंभीर रूप से प्रभावित, गरीब और कमजोर परिवारों को सामाजिक सहायता प्रदान करने के प्रयासों में भारत का समर्थन करेगा।

मानव विकास सूचकांक 2020 में भारत को मिला 131 वां स्थान

• संयुक्त राष्ट्र विकास कार्यक्रम (United Nations Development Programme) द्वारा जारी की गई रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, भारत वर्ष 2020 के मानव विकास सूचकांक (Human Development Index) में 189 देशों में अपने पिछले स्थान से दो पायदान फिसलकर 131 वें स्थान पर आ गया है।
• इस सूचकांक में नॉर्वे सबसे ऊपर है, इसके बाद आयरलैंड, स्विट्जरलैंड, हांगकांग और आइसलैंड हैं।
• निम्न मानव विकास श्रेणी में 189 वें स्थान पर नाइजर सबसे कम रैंक वाला देश है, जिसका स्कोर 0.394 है।
• भारत (131), भूटान (129), बांग्लादेश (133), नेपाल (142), और पाकिस्तान (154) को मध्यम मानव विकास वाले देशों में स्थान दिया गया।
• ब्रिक्स समूह में, रूस मानव विकास सूचकांक में 52, ब्राजील 84 और चीन 85 वें स्थान पर था।
• वर्ष 1990 और 2019 के दौरान जन्म के समय भारत की जीवन प्रत्याशा में 11.8 वर्ष, स्कूली शिक्षा के वर्ष में 3.5 वर्ष, और विद्यालयों की अपेक्षा में 4.5 वर्षों की वृद्धि हुई।
• 1990 और 2019 के बीच भारत की जीएनआई प्रति व्यक्ति लगभग 273.9% बढ़ गई। 2019 में भारतीय की जन्म की आयु 69.7 वर्ष, दक्षिण एशियाई औसत 69.9 वर्ष की तुलना में मामूली सी कम, लेकिन मध्यम मानव औसत सूचकांक 69.3 वर्षों में दुनिया की तुलना में थोड़ा अधिक है।
• मानव विकास सूचकांक मानव विकास के 3 मूल मानदंडों यानी जीवन प्रत्याशा, शिक्षा और प्रति व्यक्ति आय में देशों की औसत उपलब्धि को मापता है।

ओम बिड़ला ने संसद हमले की 19 वीं वर्षगांठ पर एक पुस्तक का किया विमोचन

• लोकसभा अध्यक्ष ओम बिरला ने 13 दिसंबर को संसद हमले की 19 वीं वर्षगांठ पर एक पुस्तक का विमोचन किया।
• उन्होंने 2001 के हमले पर ‘The Shaurya Unbound’ (अंग्रेजी संस्करण) और 'समुंदर सामवे बून्द में' (हिंदी संस्करण) पुस्तक का विमोचन किया। इस हमले में पांच आतंकवादियों सहित 14 लोगों की मौत हो गई।

NATIONAL

Indian Coast Guard’s OPV ‘Sujeet’ commissioned in Goa

• Indian Coast Guard’s (ICG) Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) ‘Sujeet’, which is second in the series of 5 OPVs was commissioned at the Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) in Vasco Town, Goa by Raj Kumar, Secretary (Defence Production).
• The vessel has been designed and built indigenously by GSL. The 1st ship in series – ICGS (ICG Ship) Sachet was commissioned by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in May 2020. The ship was commissioned in the presence of K Natarajan, Director General of Indian Coast Guard and others.
• Sujeet has been equipped with features like Integrated Bridge System, Integrated platform management system, power management system and high power external fire-fighting.
• It is capable of carrying 1 twin-engine helicopter, 4 high-speed boats, 2 inflatable boats for boarding operations, search and rescue, law enforcement and maritime patrol.
• The ship will be based at Goa and will be deployed extensively for EEZ (Exclusive Economic Zone) surveillance and other duties.
• The ship will be 105 metres long and weigh 2400 tonnes.
• At present, ICG has stated that it has 155 ships and 62 Aircraft at its disposal with 35 more ships in various stages of construction at shipyards across India.

Maharashtra Government introduces Unified Development Control Rules for Real Estate

• The Government of Maharashtra has approved the Unified Development Control and Promotion Regulations, (UDCPR), to strengthen and bring uniformity in the real estate construction laws of the state. This uniform set of regulations will specify everything from the height of buildings to the width of roads and the size of amenity spaces.
• The new set of rules will apply on all municipal corporations, councils and Nagar panchayats in the entire state except Mumbai and some neighbouring areas like hill stations, eco-sensitive zones and specified corporation areas.
• It will help to increase the stock of affordable housing projects and improve ease of doing business as well as help the developers to improve their resource management.

 OBITUARY

Former Australian Test cricketer all-rounder Eric Freeman passes away

• Former Australia Test all-rounder, Eric Freeman has passed away. He made his Test debut against India at the Gabba (Brisbane Cricket Ground) in 1968 during which his opening scoring shot was a six, and he became the first player to achieve the feat.
• Freeman received the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2002 for his services to sport. After retiring from cricket in the 1973-74 season he took up the career as administrator, coach and broadcaster. Freeman was also an elite football player, representing Port Adelaide and he topped the club’s goalkicking list in all five of his complete seasons.

 Aerospace Scientist Shri Roddam Narasimha passes away

• Eminent aerospace scientist and Padma Vibhushan awardee, Roddam Narasimha has passed away. He had served at the prestigious Indian Institute of Science (IISc), where he taught Aerospace Engineering from 1962 to 1999. He also served as the director of the National Aerospace Laboratories from 1984 to 1993.
• The central government bestowed the second-highest civilian award of India, Padma Vibhushan on him in 2013 for his contribution in the field of aerospace engineering. Together with the Missile Man of India and former president Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, Prof Narasimha had authored a book –“Developments In Fluid Mechanics and Space Technology”.

Prasar Bharati CEO Shashi Shekhar Vempati elected as Vice President of ABU

• The CEO of Prasar Bharati, Shashi Shekhar Vempati has been elected as the Vice President of Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) for a period of three years. Prasar Bharati is India’s largest public broadcasting agency.
• The Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia–based Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), is one of the largest broadcasting associations in the world.

GoI inks $1-bn loan pact with NDB to support Indian Economy

• The Government of India and the New Development Bank (NDB) have signed a loan agreement worth $1,000 million for ‘supporting India’s economic recovery from C-19’. The loan has a tenor of 30 years, including a 5-year grace period. The programme will support Indian Government in mitigating the adverse economic impact of C-19 pandemic and enable economic recovery in the rural areas.
• The loan will support expenditures on rural infrastructure related to natural resource management (NRM) and rural employment generation under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).
• The programme will support the government in mitigating the adverse economic impact of C-19 pandemic and enable economic recovery in the rural areas through natural resource management works which will facilitate economic activity and employment generation to stimulate rural demand.
• The programme will improve the livelihood of rural poor along with providing income opportunities to migrant workers who returned home due to job loss caused by C-19 pandemic.

 Norway signs MoU with Clean Ganga Mission in India

• The Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research (NIBIO) has signed an MoU with cGanga, a think-tank of National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) for development of sludge management framework in India. Through this initiative, Norway intends to deepen the relationship with India especially in the prevention of climate change and conservation of the environment.
• The MoU was signed during the 5th edition of the India Water Impact 2020, held from 10-15 December 2020. The event is co-organised by National Mission for Clean Ganga and Centre for Ganga River Basin Management and Studies.

India and World Bank sign $400 million project to protect India’s poor

• The Government of India and the World Bank have signed a $400 million project to protect vulnerable groups in urban and peri-urban areas across the country impacted by C-19. This is the second such assistance in the series of two ‘Accelerating India’s C-19 Social Protection Response Programme’. Under the first operation, $750 million was approved by World Bank in May 2020.
• World Bank will support India in its efforts at providing social assistance to the poor and vulnerable households, severely impacted by the C-19 pandemic.
• The programme will strengthen the capability of state and central governments in India to provide coordinated and adequate social protection to the poor and vulnerable from the shocks triggered by the C-19 pandemic.

India ranks 131 in Human Development Index 2020

• According to the report released by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), India has been dropped two spots to 131 among 189 countries in the 2020 Human Development Index.
• Norway topped the index, followed by Ireland, Switzerland, Hong Kong and Iceland, the report showed.
• Niger is the lowest ranked country at 189, placed among Low human development category, with a score of 0.394.
• India(131), Bhutan (129), Bangladesh (133), Nepal (142), and Pakistan (154) were ranked among countries with medium human development.
• In the BRICS grouping, Russia was 52 in the human development index, Brazil 84, and China 85.
• Between 1990 and 2019, India’s life expectancy at birth increased by 11.8 years, mean years of schooling increased by 3.5 years, and expected years of schooling increased by 4.5 years.
• India’s GNI per capita increased by about 273.9% between 1990 and 2019. Life expectancy for Indian’s at birth was 69.7 years in 2019, slightly lower than the south Asian average of 69.9 years, but slightly higher than the average of medium human development index groupings in the world at 69.3 years.
• The Human Development Index measures average achievement of the countries in 3 basic dimensions of human development i.e. life expectancy, education and per capita income.

Om Birla releases book on 19th anniversary of Parliament attack

• Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has released a book on the occasion of the 19th anniversary of the Parliament attack on 13 December.
• He released the book ‘The Shaurya Unbound’ (English Version) and ‘Samundar Samawe Boond Mein’ (Hindi Version) was released on the 2001 incident. As many as 14 people including the five terrorists died during the incident.
