15 जून से इजराइल होगा विश्‍व का पहला मास्क मुक्त देश

• कोरोना काल में इजरायल विश्‍व का पहला मास्क मुक्त देश बन जाएगा। यहां 15 जून से बंद जगहों पर मास्क लगाने का नियम खत्म हो जाएगा। इस बात का ऐलान इजरायल के स्वास्थ्य मंत्री यूली एडेलस्टीन ने किया। देश में बाहर मास्क लगाने का नियम पहले ही खत्म कर दिया गया है।
• हालांकि, विदेश यात्रा से जुड़े ज्यादातर प्रतिबंध अभी नहीं हटाए गए हैं। उदाहरण के लिए, नौ देशों की यात्रा पर अभी भी प्रतिबंध है। इन देशों से आने वाले यात्रियों के लिए क्वारंटाइन का नियम है। उनका कोरोना टेस्ट भी किया जा रहा है।

बांदीपोरा में वेयान गांव, सभी वयस्कों को टीका लगाने वाला भारत का पहला गांव

• बांदीपोरा (जम्मू-कश्मीर) जिले का एक गांव वेयान देश का पहला गांव बन गया है, जहां 18 साल से ऊपर की पूरी आबादी को टीका लगाया गया है। वेयान गांव में टीकाकरण को जम्मू-कश्मीर मॉडल के तहत कवर किया गया था, जो तेज गति से शॉट्स के लिए पात्र हर किसी को टीका लगाने के लिए एक 10-सूत्रीय रणनीति है।
• केंद्र शासित प्रदेश ने शुरुआती टीके की हिचकिचाहट के बावजूद 45+ आयु वर्ग के लोगों के लिए 70 प्रतिशत टीकाकरण हासिल किया, जो राष्ट्रीय औसत से लगभग दोगुना है। गांव बांदीपोरा जिला मुख्यालय से केवल 28 किलोमीटर दूर स्थित है, लेकिन 18 किलोमीटर की दूरी पैदल तय करनी पड़ती है क्योंकि कोई मोटर योग्य सड़क नहीं है।

नोवाक जोकोविच ने जीता फ्रेंच ओपन टेनिस 2021 का ख़िताब

• नोवाक जोकोविच ने स्टेफानोस सितसिपास को हराकर अपने करियर में दूसरी बार फ्रेंच ओपन का खिताब अपने नाम किया। जोकोविच ने अपने 19वें ग्रैंड स्लैम खिताब के साथ सर्वकालिक ग्रैंड स्लैम खिताबों की सूची में रोजर फेडरर और राफेल नडाल के रिकॉर्ड की बराबरी करने से सिर्फ एक कदम दूर हैं। दोनों खिलाड़ियों ने 20-20 ग्रैंड स्लैम जीते हैं।
• जोकोविच ओपन एरा में दो बार करियर ग्रैंड स्लैम पूरा करने वाले पहले व्यक्ति भी बन गए हैं। (उन्होंने नौ बार ऑस्ट्रेलियन ओपन, पांच बार विंबलडन और तीन बार यूएस ओपन जीता है।) रॉड लेवर के बाद वह 52 साल में सभी चार ग्रैंड स्लैम दो बार जीतने वाले पहले व्यक्ति बन गए हैं। कुल मिलाकर वह यह अनोखा कारनामा करने वाले तीसरे पुरुष टेनिस खिलाड़ी हैं। तीसरे हैं रॉय इमर्सन।

IIT रुड़की के प्रोफेसर ने 'विस्फोट प्रतिरोधी' हेलमेट के लिए जीता NSG पुरस्कार

• मैकेनिकल और औद्योगिक इंजीनियरिंग विभाग (MIED) के सहायक प्रोफेसर शैलेश गोविंद गणपुले को "विस्फोट-प्रतिरोधी" हेलमेट विकसित करने के लिए 'NSG काउंटर-IED और काउंटर-टेररिज्म इनोवेटर अवार्ड 2021' से सम्मानित किया गया। यह NSG द्वारा वार्षिक पुरस्कार का दूसरा संस्करण था। समारोह गुड़गांव के पास मानेस्वर में राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा गार्ड (NSG) परिसर में आयोजित किया गया।
• प्रो. शैलेश गणपुले द्वारा डिज़ाइन किया गया 'विस्फोट-प्रतिरोधी हेलमेट', 4 की तकनीकी तत्परता के साथ IED-प्रेरित ब्लास्ट वेव्स से सैन्य कर्मियों की रक्षा के लिए पारंपरिक हेलमेट का एक उन्नत संस्करण है।

महावीर चक्र प्राप्तकर्ता ब्रिगेडियर रघुबीर सिंह का निधन

• महावीर चक्र प्राप्तकर्ता दिग्गज वयोवृद्ध, ब्रिगेडियर रघुबीर सिंह का निधन हो गया है। उन्हें 18 अप्रैल 1943 को सवाईमन गार्ड्स में सेकेंड लेफ्टिनेंट के रूप में कमीशन किया गया था और उन्होंने दूसरे विश्व युद्ध सहित कई युद्ध लड़े थे। इस वीरतापूर्ण कार्य के लिए भारत के तत्कालीन राष्ट्रपति डॉ। एस राधाकृष्णन ने लेफ्टिनेंट कर्नल (बाद में ब्रिगेडियर) रघुबीर सिंह को देश के दूसरे सबसे बड़े वीरता पुरस्कार महावीर चक्र से सम्मानित किया।
• उन्होंने 1944 में बर्मा युद्ध में भाग लिया और लड़ने के लिए जापान गए।
• इसके बाद, उन्होंने स्वतंत्रता के तुरंत बाद उरी सेक्टर में 1947-48 के भारत-पाक युद्ध में लड़ाई लड़ी।

बायोटेक्नोलॉजी कंपनी MyLab ने अक्षय कुमार को ब्रांड एंबेसडर नियुक्त किया

• बॉलीवुड सुपरस्टार अक्षय कुमार को बायोटेक्नोलॉजी कंपनी मायलैब डिस्कवरी सॉल्यूशंस का नया ब्रांड एंबेसडर नियुक्त किया गया है।
• यह घोषणा पुणे स्थित फर्म द्वारा देश की पहली C-19 स्व-परीक्षण किट "CoviSelf" लॉन्च करने के कुछ दिनों बाद आई है। अक्षय के साथ साझेदारी का उद्देश्य Mylab के उत्पादों और किट जैसे CoviSelf के बारे में जागरूकता पैदा करना है।

कोर्सेरा की ग्लोबल स्किल्स रिपोर्ट 2021 में भारत 67वें स्थान पर है

• कोर्सेरा द्वारा जारी 'ग्लोबल स्किल्स रिपोर्ट 2021' के अनुसार, भारत को वैश्विक स्तर पर 67वां स्थान मिला है। रिपोर्ट से पता चलता है कि कुल मिलाकर, भारत प्रत्येक डोमेन में मध्य रैंकिंग के साथ, 38 प्रतिशत दक्षता के साथ वैश्विक स्तर पर 67 वें स्थान पर है, व्यापार में 55 वें तथा प्रौद्योगिकी और डेटा विज्ञान दोनों में 66 वें स्थान पर है। भारतीय शिक्षार्थियों के पास क्लाउड कंप्यूटिंग (83%) और मशीन लर्निंग (52%) और गणितीय कौशल में 54% जैसे डिजिटल कौशल में उच्च दक्षता है। डिजिटल कौशल में सुधार की आवश्यकता है क्योंकि डेटा विश्लेषण और सांख्यिकीय प्रोग्रामिंग में, केवल 25% और 15% कौशल दक्षता पर रैंक किया गया है। लेकिन, भारतीय डेटा कौशल में पीछे हैं और उस पर ध्यान देने की जरूरत है।
• रिपोर्ट महामारी की शुरुआत के बाद से एकत्र किए गए मंच पर लगभग 77 मिलियन शिक्षार्थियों (100 देशों से) के प्रदर्शन डेटा पर आधारित है। यह 3 श्रेणियों - व्यवसाय, प्रौद्योगिकी और डेटा विज्ञान में कौशल दक्षता का मानदंड है।

'होम इन द वर्ल्ड' पुस्तक: अमर्त्य सेन का संस्मरण

• हमारे समय के विश्‍व के अग्रणी सार्वजनिक बुद्धिजीवियों में से एक, नोबेल पुरस्कार विजेता अमर्त्य सेन ने अपना संस्मरण 'होम इन द वर्ल्ड' लिखा है। किताब का प्रकाशन जुलाई में पेंगुइन रैंडम हाउस द्वारा किया जाएगा।
• इस पुस्तक में, सेन बताते हैं कि कैसे रवींद्रनाथ टैगोर ने उन्हें अपना नाम अमर्त्य दिया था। वह कलकत्ता के प्रसिद्ध कॉफी हाउस और कैम्ब्रिज में बातचीत और मार्क्स, कीन्स और एरो के विचारों को भी याद किया हैं, जिन्होंने उनके विचारों को आकार दिया।

IDFC फर्स्ट बैंक ने ग्राहक C-19 राहत घर-घर राशन कार्यक्रम शुरू किया

• IDFC फर्स्ट बैंक ने अपने कम आय वाले ग्राहकों, जिनकी आजीविका C-19 से प्रभावित है, उनके लिए एक कर्मचारी-वित्त पोषित कार्यक्रम 'घर घर राशन' कार्यक्रम शुरू करने की घोषणा की है। बैंक ने उन कर्मचारियों के परिवारों के लिए एक व्यापक कार्यक्रम की भी घोषणा की है, जिन्होंने दुर्भाग्य से C-19 के कारण अपनी जान गंवा दी, और कई अन्य सामाजिक जिम्मेदारी पहल की।

Israel will become the World’s First Mask-Free Country from June 15

• Israel will become the world’s first mask-free country in the Corona period. Here the rule of applying masks in closed places will end from June 15. This was announced by Israel’s Health Minister Yuli Edelstein. The rule of applying masks outside has already been abolished in the country.
• However, most restrictions related to foreign travel have not yet been lifted. For example, travel to nine countries is still banned. There is a rule of quarantine for travellers coming from these countries. His corona test is also being done.

Weyan village in Bandipora, India’s first to inoculate all adults

• Weyan, a village in district Bandipora (J&K) has become the first village in the country, where the entire population above 18 years has been vaccinated. The vaccination in Weyan village was covered under the J&K model, a 10-point strategy to inoculate everyone who is eligible for the shots at a faster pace.
• The Union territory also achieved 70 per cent vaccination for those in the 45+ age group despite the initial vaccine hesitancy, almost double the national average. The village is located only 28 kilometres away from Bandipora district headquarters, but a distance of 18 kilometres has to be covered by foot as there is no motorable road.

Novak Djokovic wins French Open Tennis Title 2021

• Novak Djokovic defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas to lift the French Open title for the second time in his career. Djokovic, with his 19th Grand Slam title, has closed in on Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal on the all-time Grand Slam titles list. Both the players have won 20 Grand Slams each.
• Djokovic has also become the first man in the Open Era to complete the career Grand Slam twice. (He has won the Australian Open nine times, Wimbledon five times, and the US Open three times.) He has become the first man in 52 years, after Rod Laver, to win all the four Grand Slams twice. Overall, he is the third male tennis player to achieve this unique feat. The third being Roy Emerson.

IIT Roorkee prof bags NSG award for ‘blast-resistant’ helmet

• Shailesh Govind Ganpule, an assistant professor at the mechanical and industrial engineering department (MIED), was conferred the award with the ‘NSG Counter-IED and Counter-Terrorism Innovator Award 2021′ for developing a “blast-resistant” helmet. This was the second edition of the annual award by NSG. Ceremony held at the National Security Guard (NSG) campus in Maneswar, near Gurgaon.
• The ‘Blast-Resistant Helmet’ designed by Prof. Shailesh Ganpule is an advanced version of conventional helmets to protect military personnel from IED-induced blast waves with a technology readiness of 4.

OBITUARY

Mahavir Chakra recipient Brigadier Raghubir Singh passes away

• Mahavir Chakra recipient legendary veteran, Brigadier Raghubir Singh has passed away. He was commissioned on 18 Apr 1943 into the Sawaiman Guards as a Second Lieutenant and fought a number of wars including the second world war. For this gallant act, the then President of India, Dr S Radhakrishnan, honoured Lieutenant Colonel (later Brigadier) Raghubir Singh with Maha Vir Chakra, the second-highest gallantry award in the country.
• He participated in the Burma war in 1944 and went to Japan to fight.
• Thereafter, he fought in the Indo Pak war of 1947-48 in the Uri sector immediately after independence.

Biotechnology company MyLab appoints Akshay Kumar as brand ambassador

• Bollywood superstar, Akshay Kumar has been appointed as the new brand ambassador of biotechnology company Mylab Discovery Solutions.
• This announcement comes days after the Pune-based firm launched the country’s first COVID-19 self-test kit “CoviSelf”. The partnership with Akshay is aimed at creating awareness for Mylab’s products and kits such as CoviSelf.

India ranks 67th in Coursera’s Global Skills Report 2021

• As per the ‘Global Skills Report 2021’ released by Coursera, India has been ranked 67th overall globally. The report reveals that, overall, India ranks 67th globally, with 38 per cent proficiency, with mid-rankings in each domain, 55th in business and 66th in both technology and data science. Indian learners have high proficiency in digital skills like Cloud Computing (83%) and Machine Learning (52%) & 54% in Mathematical skills. Improvement is needed in digital skills because in Data Analysis and Statistical programming, ranked only at 25% and 15% skills proficiency. But, Indians trail behind in data skills and need to focus on that.
• The report is based on performance data of about 77 million learners (from across 100 countries) on the platform collected since the onset of the pandemic. It benchmarks skills proficiency across 3 categories – Business, Technology and data science.

‘Home in the World’ Book: by Amartya Sen’s memoir

• One of the world’s leading public intellectuals of our time, Nobel laureate Amartya Sen has penned his memoir ‘Home in the World’.
• The book will be published in July by Penguin Random House. In this book, Sen shares how it was Rabindranath Tagore who gave him his name Amartya. He also reminisces the conversations at Calcutta’s famous Coffee House and at Cambridge, and Marx’s, Keynes’ and Arrow’s ideas all of which shaped his views.

IDFC FIRST Bank launches Customer COVID relief Ghar Ghar Ration Program

• IDFC FIRST Bank has announced the launch of ‘Ghar Ghar Ration’ Program, an employee-funded program for its low-income customers whose livelihoods are affected by COVID-19. The bank has also announced a comprehensive program for the families of employees who unfortunately lost their lives due to COVID-19, and a number of other social responsibility initiatives.
• “Ghar Ghar Ration” is a unique program where employees have contributed from their personal income to set up a Customer COVID Care Fund to provide relief to 50,000 COVID affected low-income IDFC FIRST Bank customers.
• Employees of the Bank contributed one day to one month’s salary for the purpose.
