KSET 2020 Notification,Exam Dates,Admit Card & Syllabus

The University of Mysore conducts the Karnataka State Eligibility Test (KSET) every year to recruit eligible candidates for the post of lectureship/Assistant Professor in Karnataka. Candidates who qualify in the KSET exam are governed by the recruitment rules and regulations stipulated for Lecturers / Assistant Professors of concerned Universities / Colleges / Institutions (Government/ Aided /Private) of Karnataka State. Interested candidates must go through the official KSET Notification 2020.

  • The notification was released by the Mysore University on 01 February 2020.
  • As per the KSET New Exam Dates, the exam is scheduled to be held on 21 June 2020.
  • Candidates must fulfill the eligibility criteria set by the university in order to proceed with the KSET Application process.
  • The KSET Exam 2020 will be conducted in 41subjects at Eleven (11) Nodal Centers spread across the Karnataka state. 
  • There is no upper age limit for the Karnataka State Eligibility Test.
  • Candidates are advised to fill the KSET 2020 Application Form on or before the last date.
  • The KSET Admit Card will be released only in online mode. Aspirants can download the admit card from the official website.

KSET Eligibility Criteria 2020

Before filling the application form, it is important for candidates to be aware of the KSET 2020 Eligibility Criteria. Aspirants must meet the age limit and educational qualification set by the university. Go through the detailed information related to the eligibility criteria of the Karnataka State Eligibility Test 2020 from the below post.

  • Candidates belonging to General category must have scored 55% of marks whereas candidates belonging to Schedule Category (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Persons with Disability (PWD), OBCs [Cat-I, IIA, IIB, IIIA, and IIIB], have scored 50% of marks in Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC New Delhi, in the subjects opted for KSET.
  • Candidates who are pursuing their Master’s Degree or waiting for final year results are also eligible to apply for the KSET Exam. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and for those who clear the KSET, eligibility certificate will be issued only on production of proof for having passed the Master’s degree or equivalent examination securing at least 55% marks.
  • The Ph.D. degree holders whose Master’s level examination had been completed by 19th September 1991 (irrespective of the date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e. from 55% to 50%) for appearing in KSET.
  • If any candidate found to be eligible in previous KSET tests and reappearing on the same subject in current KSET, their candidature will be cancelled and the previous eligibility is withdrawn through de-notification.
  • A candidate who became eligible in Previous KSET exams is not eligible to apply again in the same subject.
  • Candidates with post-graduate diploma/certificate awarded by Indian University/Institute or foreign degree/diploma/certificate awarded by the foreign University/ Institute should in their own interest, ascertain the equivalence of their diploma/degree/certificate with Master’s degree of recognized Indian universities from Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi.

Age Limit

As per the KSET Notification 2020, there is no upper age limit to apply for the Karnataka State Eligibility Test. However, candidates must have secured a Master's degree or equivalent examination from the recognized Universities / Institutions recognized by UGC New Delhi in the subject opted for KSET.

Educational Qualification

The candidates who have completed/appearing in their two-year master’s degree in Economics / Co-operation & other related subjects can take the KSET under “Economics”.

  • Candidates who have completed/appearing in their two-year master's degree / PG Diploma in Management & other related subjects can take KSET under “Management”.
  • Those who have completed/appearing in their two-year master’s degree in folklore, Kannada, Janapada, Kannada Janapada, Janapadasahithya, & other related subjects can take KSET under “Folklore”.
  • Candidates who have completed/ appearing in their two-year master’s degree in Physics/Electronics/Atomic & Molecular Physics/Classical Dynamics/ Condensed matter Physics/Electromagnetic/ Experimental Design/Nuclear, Space & Particle Physics /Quantum Physics /Thermodynamics, Astronomy, Astrophysics, Material Science and other related subjects can take KSET under “Physical Sciences”.
  • Candidates who have completed/ appearing in their two-year master’s degree in Pure Mathematics / Statistics / Applied Mathematics, Mathematics with computer science & other related subjects can take KSET under “Mathematical Sciences”.
  • Those who have completed/ appearing in their two-year master’s degree in Chemistry / Chemical Sciences / Analytical Chemistry / Inorganic Chemistry / Organic Chemistry / Physical Chemistry / Medicinal Chemistry / Applied Chemistry / Nuclear Chemistry / Environmental Chemistry / Marine Chemistry / Pharmaceutical Chemistry / Bio-organic Chemistry & other related subjects can take Karnataka State Eligibility Test under “Chemical Sciences”.
  • The candidates who have completed / appearing in their two-year master’s degree in Biochemistry / Biology / Biotechnology / Biodiversity & Taxonomy / Botany / Genetics / Microbiology / Physiology/ Zoology / Fishery science / Animal Biology / Marine Biology / Applied Genetics & other related shall be eligible to take KSET under “Life Sciences”.
  • Candidates who have completed/appearing in their two-year master’s degree in Geology / Applied Geology / Geo-physics / Meteorology / Oceanography / Physical Geography / Earth Science / Earth & Atmospheric Science / Earth Science Resource Management / Marine Geology / Petroleum Geology / Geo-informatics / GIS / Applied Geochemistry / Geography & other related subjects can take KSET under “Earth Sciences”.
  • Aspirants who have completed/appearing in their two-year master’s degree in Archeology, Ancient History and Archeology, History and Archeology, 8 Epigraphy, Culture, and Archeology & other related subjects can also take KSET under “Archeology”.
  • The candidates who have completed/appearing in their two-year master’s degree in Women Studies. The candidates with a Master’s Degree in Humanities (including languages) and Social Sciences are eligible to appear in the subject “Women Studies”.

Exemptions

KSET 2020 Notification includes certain exemptions set by the Mysore University for applying the Karnataka State Eligibility Test.

  • NET/SET/SLET shall remain the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professors in Universities/Colleges/ Institutions. and in such cases, exemption from NET/SET/SLET will be governed by UGC regulations and amendments notified in the Gazette of India for time to time.
  • Candidates who have passed the UGC-NET/CSIR JRF examination prior to 1989 are also exempted to take the KSET examination.
  • The candidates who have cleared the States Eligibility Test (SET) accredited by UGC for eligibility for Assistant Professor held prior to 1st June 2002, are also exempted to take the KSET Exam 2020.
  • For SET held from 1st June 2002 onwards, the qualified candidates are eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Professor only in the Universities/ Colleges situated in the state from where they have cleared their SET.

KSET Application Form 2020

The application form has been released on 03 February 2020. As per the KSET 2020 Exam Dates, the last date for submission of the KSET Application Form was 09 March 2020. Aspirants must make sure to fill the online form before the last date.

  • Visit the official website of KSET
  • Click on the "Application Form" tab
  • You need to register on the official website by providing valid E-mail ID and password
  • Enter the required details like name, education, contact details, etc.
  • Upload the scanned images of photograph and signature in the specified format
  • Pay the application fee through online or offline mode
  • Click on the "Submit" button

  • Candidates can make payment through online mode by means of debit card/credit card/net banking.
  • Those who are paying the KSET Application Fee through offline mode have to generate an online challan and can make payment at all the SBI branches PAN India.
  • Fee submitted by any other mode like Money Order /Demand Draft/IPO etc., will NOT be accepted by the university.
  • Candidates must note that the fee once paid will NOT be refunded under any circumstances.
