India ends with 73 medals from 2017 Special Olympics World Winter Games
India's 'special' athletes have once again done the country proud. They have raked in a rich haul of medals in the 2017 Special Olympics World Winter Games held in Austria including 37 gold.
● The team for specially-abled sportspersons of the Special Olympics Bharat (SOB) not only competed with 2,600 athletes from over 105 countries, but also won a total of 73 medals.
● The victorious delegation will return to India on March 26. In the event, held in Austria between March 18 and March 24, a total of 37 gold, 10 silver and 26 bronze medals were added to India's kitty.
● The games included seven disciplines including Alpine Skiing, Snow Boarding, Snow Shoeing, Figure Skating, Speed Skating, Floor Hockey, Floor Ball (and Unified floor Ball), at the mega event.
● While three team events-Floor Hockey (male), Unified Floorball and Traditional Floorball-logged in 30 gold medals, the highest number in a single day, the 'special' women hockey team also collected 16 bronze medals.
ANKUR MITTAL WINS DOUBLE TRAP GOLD IN SHOTGUN WORLD CUP
Extending his good form, Ankur Mittal clinched the gold medal at the ISSF Shotgun World Cup in the double trap event, pipping his Australian rival James Willet in the final in a world record equalling effort in second World Cup appearance of the year.
● Mittal had to settle for silver at the recent International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup in New Delhi, where Willet had won the gold.
● Mittal ended with 75 points out of possible 80 in the six-man final to win India's first medal in the competition while Willet managed 73.
● Ankur shot strong throughout the day, ending second in qualification with a score of 138 out of a possible 150.
● He also got the better off China's Ying Qi 6-5 in a shoot-off to decide second and third spots after both had finished their qualifying rounds on the same score.

NTPC commissions 20 MW capacity at Bhadla solar project
State-run power producer NTPC today said it has commissioned 20 mega watt (MW) of Bhadla Solar Power Project in Rajasthan.
● “We wish to inform that 20 MW of Bhadla Solar Power Project has been commissioned. With this, the commissioned capacity of Bhadla Solar Power Project, NTPC and NTPC group, has become 205 MW, 41,927 MW and 48,893 MW respectively,” NTPC said in a BSE filing.
● Last month, NTPC had commissioned 115 MW capacity out of 260 MW of Bhadla Solar Power Project.
● NTPC has planned capacity addition of about 1,000 MW through renewable resources by 2017. Towards this, NTPC has already commissioned 310 MW solar PV projects.
● The 50 MW Solar PV at Anantpur in Andhra Pradesh, 260 MW Solar PV at Bhadla in Rajasthan and 250 MW Solar PV at Mandsar in Madhya Pradesh and 8 MW Small Hydro Projects are under implementation, as per the company’s portal.
Samsung Pay launched in India
Samsung today launched a new digital payments service in the country, called Samsung Pay, that hopes to bring debit cards, credit cards and wallets under one umbrella.
● Samsung Pay, a service that users of Samsung S7 Edge, S7, S6 Edge Plus, A series 2016 and 2017, and Note 5 users will get via a service update, will be available on Visa, Mastercard and Rupay payment cards.
● ICICI, HDFC, Standard Chartered, SBI, Axis bank cards will be supported, along with Paytm and Amex cards. UPI and CitiBank card support is also expected to become available soon.
● After updating their Samsung phones to the latest software, users can open the Samsung Pay app and link their bank or Paytm or credit/debit card accounts.
● First, a user must first link their card or wallet to the Samsung Pay account.
● For phones, the user can then make a transaction by swiping the pay service from the bottom of the screen.
● The screen will offer options of cards or accounts to pay from. The user selects the card and brings it close to the POS (point of sale) machine.
● Once the merchant has entered the amount for the transaction, the machine connects to the payment gateway and asks the user for the bank/ATM pin. Entering the PIN completes the transaction.

Bank of India, Union Bank of India sell stake in TransUnion CIBIL
Public sector lenders Union Bank of India (UBI) and Bank of India (BoI) said on Thursday that they have sold their entire stakes in TransUnion CIBIL to TransUnion International Inc. for Rs381.24 crore. The banks each held a 5% stake.
● Banks have been trying to sell assets to shore up their capital after being hit by bad loans.
● In the September quarter, Bank of India sold its 18% stake in Star Union Daiichi Life Insurance to Life Insurance Corp. of India, earning Rs495 crore in pre-tax profit.
● Bank of India posted a net profit of Rs101.72 crore for the December quarter. Its capital adequacy ratio was at 12.11%.
● After the latest stake sales, TransUnion International will hold 92.1% in Cibil.
● The rest of the shares are owned by Aditya Birla Trustee Co. Pvt. Ltd, India Alternatives Private Equity Fund and India Infoline Finance Ltd.

NASA Develops Next-Gen Atomic Clock For Space Exploration
In a key advance for safely navigating future human exploration of the solar system, NASA said it is set to send its next-generation atomic clock to space in late 2017.
● This clock will be smaller, lighter and magnitudes more precise than any atomic clock flown in space before, NASA said.
● Engineers at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California have completed integration of the instrument, the Deep Space Atomic Clock, with the spacecraft that will take it into orbit later in 2017, the US space agency said in a statement on Tuesday.
● Timekeeping plays a critical role in spacecraft navigation and will be especially important for future deep space missions.
● Most spacecraft are tracked using "two-way" methods -- the ground-based antenna 'pings' the spacecraft and waits for the signal to return.

Madhabi Puri Buch appointed as Sebi Whole-Time Member
Madhabi Puri Buch was today appointed as a Whole-Time Member of capital markets regulator SEBI.
● She is founder-director of Agora Advisory Pvt Ltd and currently at the New Development Bank in Shanghai, China.
● Buch has been appointed to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) post for a period of three years, an order issued by the Personnel Ministry said.
● She will get pay as admissible to a additional secretary to Government of India or a consolidated salary of Rs 3.75 lakh per month, it said.

ऑस्ट्रेलिया में 14 से 25 मार्च तक हुए स्पेशल विंटर ओलंपिक गेम्स में भारतीय एथलीट्स ने 37 स्वर्ण के साथ कुल 73 पदक जीतकर देश का नाम ऊंचा कर दिया है।
● अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर की इन खेलों में भारतीय खिलाड़ी बेहतर प्रदर्शन किया है। खेलों में अलग-अलग खिलाडिय़ों ने मेडल हासिल किए।
● इसी तरह पंजाब के रोपड़ जिले के शमशेर सिंह ने रजत पदक जीता। वहीं, हिमाचल प्रदेश की ज्योति बाला ने भारत की झोली में कॉस्य पदक डाला।
● लड़कियों की इसी स्पर्धा में धर्मशाला की ज्योति बाला ने 32.39 सेकेंड के साथ कांस्य पदक जीता। स्पेशल विंटर ओलंपिक्स में भारत के 89 एथलीट भाग लिया हैं, जिनमें 48 लड़के और 41 लड़कियां हैं।
● भारत ने अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर की इन खेलों में शानदार प्रदर्शन करते हुए 73 मैडल अपने नाम किए है जिनमें से 37 गोल्ड, 10 रजत, 26 कांस्य मैडल है।

शॉटगन विश्व कप में गोल्ड जीते अंकुर
भारतीय निशानेबाज अंकुर मित्तल के लिए यह साल बदलाव लाने वाला रहा है।
● वह मानते हैं कि उनके पिछले सालों की कड़ी मेहनत अब रंग ला रही है। अंकुर ने पिछले महीने दिल्ली में हुए आइएसएसफ विश्व कप में रजत पदक जीता था।
● एक दिन पहले उन्होंने अपने प्रदर्शन में सुधार करते हुए मैक्सिको के अकापुल्को में आइएसएसफ विश्व कप में डबल ट्रैप स्पर्धा में स्वर्ण पदक पर कब्जा जमाया।
● हरियाणा के सोनीपत के रहने वाले अंकुर के मुताबिक विश्व रिकॉर्ड की बराबरी करना शानदार उपलब्धि है। उनके मुताबिक, 'इसमें कुछ आश्चर्यजनक नहीं है, मेरी कड़ी मेहनत अब रंग ला रही है।
● घर से दूर यहां आइएसएसफ विश्व कप में रिकॉर्ड के साथ स्वर्ण पदक जीतना अद्भुत है। मेरे लिए यह सर्वोच्च पदक है। मैं अपने प्रदर्शन से बहुत खुश हूं। हालांकि मुझे लगता है कि घर वापस होने पर मुझे इस पर और ज्यादा खुशी होगी।'
● अंकुर ने ऑस्ट्रेलिया के जेम्स विलेट को पछाड़कर स्वर्ण जीता था। विलेट ने दिल्ली में हुए आइएसएसफ विश्व कप में स्वर्ण पदक हासिल किया था।
● अंकुर ने फाइनल में 75 निशाने लगाकर विलेट के रिकॉर्ड की बराबरी भी की, जो विलेट ने एक महीने पहले दिल्ली में फाइनल में बनाया था।
● हालांकि अंकुर इसे बदला नहीं मानते। उन्होंने कहा, 'मैं इसे बदला नहीं कहूंगा। जेम्स एक महान निशानेबाज हैं और हार या जीत खेल का हिस्सा है।'
एनटीपीसी ने भादला सौर परियोजना में 20 मेगावाट क्षमता और जोड़ी
सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र की विद्युत उत्पादक कंपनी नेशनल थर्मल पॉवर कापरेरेशन (एनटीपीसी) ने आज कहा कि उसने राजस्थान स्थित भादला सौर उर्जा परियोजना में 20 मेगावाट क्षमता को चालू किया है।
● एनटीपीसी ने बंबई शेयर बाजार को भेजी सूचना में कहा है, ‘‘हम आपको सूचित करना चाहते हैं कि हमने भादला सौर उर्जा परियोजना की 20 मेगावाट क्षमता को चालू कर दिया है।
● इस क्षमता के चालू होने के साथ भादला सौर उर्जा परियोजना, एनटीपीसी और एनटीपीसी समूह की कुल उर्जा उत्पादन क्षमता क्रमश: 205 मेगावाट, 41,927 मेगावाट और 48,893 मेगावाट तक पहुंच गई है।’’ एनटीपीसी ने पिछले महीने ही भादला सौर उर्जा परियोजना की कुल 260 में से 115 मेगावाट क्षमता की शुरआत कर दी थी।
● एनटीपीसी ने वर्ष 2017 में विभिन्न अक्षय उर्जा स्रोतों से 1,000 मेगावाट बिजली क्षमता जुटाने की योजना बनाई है। इसके लिये एनटीपीसी ने अब तक 310 मेगावाट सौर उर्जा पीवी परियोजनायें चालू कर लीं हैं।
● इनमें आंध्र प्रदेश अनंतपुर में 50 मेगावाट सोलर पीवी परियोजना, राजस्थान में 260 मेगावाट सोलर पीवी भादला परियोजना, मध्यप्रदेश में मंदसौर स्थित 250 मेगावाट सोलर पीवी परियोजना प्रमुख है।
● इसके अलावा आठ मेगावाट की लघु पन बिजली परियोजना पर काम चल रहा है।
लुकास पोडोलस्की ने कहा इंटरनेशल फुटबॉल को अलविदा

बैंक ऑफ इंडिया ने ट्रांसयूनियन सिबिल लिमिटेड में अपनी हिस्सेदारी बेच दी
सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के बैंक, बैंक ऑफ इंडिया (बीओआई) ने 22 मार्च 2017 को ऋण सूचना कंपनी ट्रांसयूनियन सिबिल लिमिटेड में अपनी समूची पांच प्रतिशत हिस्सेदारी बेच दी.
● ट्रांसयूनियन इंटरनेशनल इंक ने इस हिस्सेदारी का अधिग्रहण किया. इस सौदे के बाद ट्रांसयूनियन इंटरनेशनल की हिस्सेदारी बढ़कर 87.1 प्रतिशत हो गई.
● बैंक ऑफ इंडिया (बीओआई) ने यह हिस्सेदारी 190.62 करोड़ रुपये में बिक्री की है.
● बैंक ऑफ इंडिया (बीओआई) द्वारा नियामकीय सूचना में दी गयी जानकारी के अनुसार 'बैंक ने ट्रांसयूनियन सिबिल लिमिटेड में अपनी पूरी पांच प्रतिशत हिस्सेदारी (12.50 लाख शेयर) ट्रांसयूनियन इंटरनैशनल इंक (टीयूआई) को बेच दी।
● यह सौदा 1,525 रुपये प्रति शेयर के हिसाब से कुल 190.62 करोड़ रुपये में किया गया.
● सिबिल की शुरुआत अगस्त 2000 में की गई.
● सिबिल बैंकों और ट्रांस यूनियन के मध्य एक संयुकत उद्यम के रूप में आरम्भ किया.
● बाद में भारतीय स्टेट बैंक और एचडीएफसी सहित बैंकों ने इसमें अपनी हिस्सेदारी ट्रांस यूनियन को बेच दी.
● एनपीए के ऋण के कारण बैंक ऑफ इंडिया अपने प्रॉफिट को बढ़ाने हेतु नॉन-कोर बिजनेस को बेचने की कोशिश कर रहा है.
नासा ने दुनिया की पहली नेक्स्ट–जेन एटॉमिक घड़ी बनाई
नेशनल एयरोनॉटिक्स एंड स्पेस एडमिनिस्ट्रेशन (नासा) ने गंभीर अंतरिक्ष मिशनों हेतु दुनिया की पहली नेक्स्ट–जेन एटॉमिक घड़ी बना कर भविष्य में अंतरिक्ष में मानव खोजों की दिशा में महत्वपूर्ण प्रगति की है.
● यह घड़ी पसादेना, कैलिफोर्निया स्थिति नासा के जेट प्रोप्लशन लैब में इंजीनियरों द्वारा बनाई गई है. डीप स्पेस एटॉमिक क्लॉक नाम की इस घड़ी से अंतरिक्ष यानों के नेविगेशन में मदद कर भविष्य में होने वाले गंभीर अंतरिक्ष अन्वेषण मिशनों में मदद करने की उम्मीद है.
● यह घड़ी छोटी, हल्की होगी और अब से पहले अंतरिक्ष में भेजी गईं किसी भी एटॉमिक क्लॉक की तुलना में इसके परिणाण अधिक सटीक होने के उम्मीद हैं.
● जेपीएल के इंजीनियरों ने फरवरी 2017 में सर्रे ऑर्बिटल टेस्ट बेड स्पेसक्राफ्ट पर घड़ी के एकीकरण पर नजर रखी, 2017 में आगे चलकर इसे कक्षा में भेजा जाएगा.
● फिलहाल, ज्यादातर अंतरिक्ष यानों को "टू– वे" पद्धति का प्रयोग कर ट्रैक किया जाता है. इसमें धरती पर स्थित एंटीना अंतरिक्ष यान को संकेत भेजता है और फिर अंतरिक्ष यान से संकेत आने का इंतजार करता है.
● संकेत को यात्रा करने में लगे समय के आधार पर अंतरिक्षयान की दूरी मापी जाती है. नेविगेशन टीम फिर इसी आंकड़े का प्रयोग अंतरिक्षयान के मार्ग को निर्धारित करने में करता है और देखता है कि किसी प्रकार के बदलाव की जरूरत तो नहीं.
● हालांकि, घड़ी के विकास के साथ अंतरिक्षयानों को अब पृथ्वी पर संकेत वापस भेजने की जरूरत नहीं होगी. वैज्ञानिक वास्तविक– समय में अंतरिक्षयान को ट्रैक करने में सक्षम होंगे.
भारत में लॉन्च हुआ सैमसंग-पे
भारत में तेजी से बढ़ते हुए डिजिटल ट्रांजेक्शंस को देखते हुए कोरियन टेक्नॉलोजी कंपनी सैमसंग मोबाइल पेमेंट सर्विस ला रही है.
● सैमसंग ने इस सर्विस की शुरुआत दो साल पहले अमेरिका और ब्रिटेन जैसे देशों में कर दी थी अब ये कंपनी भारत में इसकी शुरुआत करने जा रही है.
● सैमसंग ने बुधवार को भारत में अपनी मोबाइल पेमेंट सर्विस सैमसंग-पे को लॉन्च करने का ऐलान कर दिया है. इस ऐप को यूपीआई से भी इंटीग्रेट किया जा रहा है जो कि अभी टेस्टिंग फेज में है.
● सैमसंग-पे सर्विस एनएफसी और एमएसटी (मैग्नेटिक सिक्योर ट्रांसमिशन) को सपोर्ट करती है. यह सर्विस शुरुआत में सैमसंग गैलेक्सी नोट 5, गैलेक्सी एस7, गैलेक्सी एस7 एज, गैलेक्सी एस6 एज+, गैलेक्सी ए7 (2016), और गैलेक्सी ए5 (2016) स्मार्टफोन पर काम करेगी.
● इस ऐप को यूज करने के लिए सैमसंग की वेबसाइट पर कस्टमर को रजिस्ट्रेशन करना होगा. इसे यूज करने के लिए आपके स्मार्टफोन में सैमसंग पे ऐप का होना जरूरी है. यूजर को इस ऐप का पहले लेटेस्ट सॉफ्टवेयर अपडेट करना होगा.
माधबी पुरी बुच भारतीय प्रतिभूति एवं विनिमय बोर्ड (सेबी) की पूर्णकालिक सदस्य नियुक्त किया गया
माधबी पुरी बुच 21 मार्च 2017 को भारतीय प्रतिभूति एवं विनिमय बोर्ड (सेबी) की पूर्णकालिक सदस्य नियुक्त किया गया. उनका कार्याकाल 3 वर्ष का होगा.
● यह पहली बार है जब सेबी में किसी महिला और प्राइवेट सेक्टर शख्सियत को सेबी के प्रमुख पद पर नियुक्त किया गया है.
● अब तक, सेबी के सदस्यों और अध्यक्ष के तौर पर मुख्य रूप से भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक (आरबीआई) और भारतीय प्रशासनिक सेवा (आईएएस) जैसे पब्लिक सेक्टर के संस्थानों के लोगों की नियुक्ति की जाती थी.
● बुच फिलहाल शंघाई में न्यू डेवलपमेंट बैंक में कार्यरत हैं.
● वे इंडियन इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ मैनेजमेंट (आईआईएम), अहमदाबाद की मैनेजमेंट से ग्रैजुएट हैं.
● 20 वर्षों से भी अधिक समय के अपने करिअर में उन्होंने प्राइवेट सेक्टर के बैंकों में अलग– अलग भूमिका निभाई है.
● उन्होंने आईसीआईसीआई बैंक के साथ अपना करिअर शुरु किया और फरवरी 2009 से मई 2011 तक आईसीआईसीआई सिक्योरीटीज लिमिटेड में मैनेजिंग डायरेक्टर और चीफ एग्जीक्यूटिव ऑफिसर रहीं.
