UCEED Rechecking Process 2026

Unlike other exams, UCEED does not allow re-evaluation or re-checking of answers.

However, candidates can request review of their Part A score within a limited period after the draft answer key is released.

Here’s how:

1. Check the draft answer key on the official portal.

2. If you find any discrepancy, submit a challenge or your comments using the candidate login.

3. IIT Bombay reviews all challenges and releases the final answer key

4. After the final key, no further re-evaluation is permitted.

Note: For Part B, since it’s a manually evaluated descriptive question, the score once awarded is final and cannot be challenged.

UCEED Cut-Off 2026 (Expected)

Cut-off marks are the minimum qualifying marks you need to score to get shortlisted in the entrance exam. Authorities set the UCEED Cut-Off 2026 based on various factors such as the difficulty level of the paper, the number of students who appeared for the exam, the previous year's cut-off, etc.

Understanding the cut-off or knowing what is a good UCEED score helps you determine the safe UCEED score for IIT Bombay.

Our experts from CreativeEdge have estimated the following cut-off for the academic year 2026. The UCEED cut-off 2026 will vary by category and institute.

Based on previous years’ trends, here’s an estimated UCEED 2026 expected cut-off for shortlisting:

Category

Remarks

General

80-90

Slightly higher due to increasing competition

OBC-NCL / EWS

70-80

Small rise due to higher cut-off for general category

SC / ST / PwD

UCEED 2026 Result Tie-Breaker Policy

If two or more candidates score the same total marks, IIT Bombay applies the following tie-breaking rules. In case of a tie in UCEED total marks (Part A + Part B), the following order of preference is applied:

Step / Order

Tie-Breaking Condition

Explanation / Example

Criteria #1

Candidate with higher marks in Part B is given a higher rank.

Example: If Candidate A and B both scored 210 overall, but A scored 70 in Part B while B scored 68 -> A ranks higher.

Criteria #2

If the tie still persists, the candidate with higher marks in Section 2 (MSQ) of Part A is ranked higher.

This checks conceptual and analytical design reasoning.

Criteria #3

If still tied, candidate with higher marks in Section 1 (NAT) of Part A is ranked higher.

This tests visualization and spatial ability.

Criteria #4

If the tie still persists, the younger candidate (by birth date) is given a higher rank.

IIT Bombay prefers younger age in final order.

Criteria #5

If all the above are identical, candidates are assigned the same rank.

Very rare, usually only in tied category ranks.

This ensures a fair ranking in the UCEED 2026 result. Let's understand each step in detail:

Know more: UCEED Exam Analysis

Step 1: Higher Marks in Part B (Drawing & Design Aptitude)

Part B tests real-world design thinking, sketching, and visualization skills, which IITs value most in B.Des aspirants.
Hence, Part B has the highest priority in resolving ties.

Example:
Candidate A: 152 in Part A + 65 in Part B = 217
Candidate B: 155 in Part A + 62 in Part B = 217
Result: Candidate A ranks higher due to superior Part B performance.

Step 2: Higher Marks in Section 2 (MSQ) of Part A

MSQs (Multiple Select Questions) check a student’s conceptual clarity and problem-solving accuracy, rewarding precision and deep understanding.
So, if the total and Part B marks are identical, MSQ section scores decide who ranks higher.

Example: Candidate X and Y both have 190 marks total and 60 in Part B, but X has 36/60 in MSQ while Y has 32/60, X ranks higher.

Step 3: Higher Marks in Section 1 (NAT) of Part A

If both Part B and MSQ marks are tied, NAT (Numerical Answer Type) scores are used.
NAT evaluates visual reasoning and logical estimation, key aspects of design aptitude.
This ensures the candidate with better visualization accuracy is given preference.

Step 4: Younger Age Preference

If marks are identical across all sections, the candidate born later (younger) is given a higher rank.
This is a final, objective tie-breaker used rarely when all section scores match exactly.

Step 5: Same Rank (If All Else Is Equal)

In the rare case where scores, sections, and birth dates match, both candidates are assigned the same rank in the UCEED rank list.
Such ties are extremely uncommon but may occur in category-specific lists.

Candidate B

Candidate C

Why Part B Is Given Priority in Tie-Breaks

Part B is manually evaluated and tests core design abilities including creativity, problem-solving, perspective drawing, and aesthetic sensitivity.
Because these skills define success in design school, IIT Bombay uses Part B as the top criterion to distinguish merit.

Important Notes About Tie-Breaking in UCEED 2026

  • Tie-breaking rules apply only to candidates who qualify in both Part A and Part B.
  • IIT Bombay’s decision regarding tie resolution is final and binding.
  • Category-wise rank lists also follow the same tie-breaking policy.
