The Undergraduate Common Entrance Exam for Design, known as UCEED, is a national-level entrance exam conducted by IIT Bombay for providing admissions to the Bachelor of Design (B.Design) program at IIT Bombay IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, and IITDM Jabalpur.

The participating institutes will offer seat reservations for different categories. Indian nationals belonging to certain categories will be given reservations under the rules of the Government of India.

This post shall guide you through the UCEED Reservation Policy, seat matrix, and the percentage of seats reserved for each category.

Reservation of Seats for UCEED 2024

As said above, a certain number of seats will be reserved for Indian nationals appearing for the exam

UCEED 2024 Reservation Policy

As per the official notification, the category you chose while filling out the UCEED Application Form is final for the exam and admission process.

Here is detailed information about the UCEED Reservation Policy 2024 and the important points you need to remember before applying for the exam.

  • Those belonging to the EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PWD categories will be declared qualified based on the relaxed criterion.
  • The participating colleges will benefit from reservations subject to the verification of documents at the final stage.
  • Your admission will get canceled if you submit any false/fake/invalid/incorrect document.
  • If you submit the invalid PwD certificate and have availed the compensatory time and/or availed the services of an amanuensis, you can not be rolled back to the OPEN category. Your candidature will get canceled.
  • You must make sure to submit a valid and updated category certificate while applying for BDes admission to avail of reservation.
  • You will be allotted a seat based on your All India Rank (merit order), reservation category, and seat availability at each institute.
  • The name of the backward class must be in the current central list of OBCs. 
  • OBC-NCL certificates issued only from April 1, 2022, onwards are accepted for the examination.
  • Those belonging to the creamy layer of OBC are NOT entitled to reservation. Such students are treated as belonging to the Open/ Reserved category.
  • The benefit of reservation can be availed only by those castes and tribes mentioned in the respective central list of corresponding states published by the Government of India.
  • Vacant seats in the OBC-NCL category can be allotted to those in the OPEN category during the counseling.
  • Seats remaining vacant under the SC and ST categories shall NOT be allotted to any other categories.
  • Foreign nationals (including OCI/PIO card holders) will be treated as an unreserved category and allotted 10% of the total seats.
