UCEED 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Let's look at all about UCEED Eligibility Criteria 2026 set by IIT Bombay for the B.Des program:

UCEED Eligibility- Age Limit

If you are in the OPEN/EWS/OBC-NCL category, you must have been born on or after October 1, 2001, and if you are in the SC, ST, or PwD category, you must have been born on or after October 1, 1996 to fulfil the age related requirements of UCEED eligibility.

Number of Attempts

A candidate can attempt the UCEED 2026 entrance exam a maximum of two times in consecutive years. Note that the UCEED score is valid for one year and only for admissions in the same corresponding academic year.

Qualifying Examination

The candidate must have passed all subjects in the qualifying examination (Class XII or equivalent) in 2025 OR should be appearing for the qualifying examination for the first time in 2026 for UCEED exam eligibility. There's no mention of any UCEED eligibility percentage or minimum marks required to apply for the exam.

Students from ALL STREAMS (Science, Commerce, and Arts & Humanities) are eligible.

Those who appeared for the first time in their qualifying examination (Class XII) in 2024 or earlier are NOT eligible to appear in the UCEED entrance exam 2026.

According to previous year trends, UCEED notification for 2026 will be released on October 1, 2025, and the exam is scheduled for January 18, 2026

Steps to apply for the UCEED 2026 Exam

  • Visit the official website of the exam 
  • Click on the registration link
  • Enter details such as name, mobile number, date of birth, and email ID
  • Submit the details
  • Note down the application number and password
  • Login to the registered account using the application number and password
  • Fill in all details asked in the application form
  • Give preference for three exam cities and enter them
  • Upload the scanned copies of all the prescribed documents
  • Pay the application fee

UCEED 2026 Application Form

  • You can only do the UCEED registration 2026 through the official website. 
  • As mentioned above, you must meet all three qualifying requirements.
  • The registration will be cancelled if it is later discovered that you do NOT fulfil either of the three qualifying conditions.
  • You must submit accurate information about the qualifying test and category and upload VALID documents in the required format.
  • The admitting institutes have the authority to cancel your admission at any point if it is discovered that any information you provide is inaccurate or the registration is incomplete, which is in line with the rules and regulations in effect.
  • The registration fee is NEITHER refundable NOR transferable.

Documents required for UCEED 2026 Application Process

Keep the following documents ready while filling out the UCEED entrance exam application form:

  • Recent coloured passport-sized photograph
  • A scanned copy of the full signature on the white sheet/paper 
  • Qualifying examination certificate if appeared in 2025
  • Certificate from school/college principal, if they appear in 2026
  • Date of birth proof, such as passport, SSC certificate, or birth certificate

Note that, in case of incomplete/incorrect information on the form including failing to meet UCEED eligibility criteria, or  in case you fail to provide required documents in valid format, your application for the exam can be rejected, without any prior notification.

UCEED 2026 Admit Card

Candidates whose registration is complete in all aspects can download the Admit Card for UCEED 2026 from the registration portal (www.uceed.iitb.ac.in) once the conducting body releases the admit card for UCEED entrance exam. A printed copy of the downloaded Admit Card MUST be produced during the examination.

UCEED 2026 Exam Centres List

UCEED 2026 examination will be held in 24 cities in India. You must mention three exam cities from the list of UCEED Exam centres in order of preference.

The city allocation depends on the number of candidates applying from each location. The exam conducting authority may add a new city or remove an existing one.

  • Once the registration is complete, a request for a city change will NOT be entertained.
  • In case sufficient number of candidates are not available in a listed city, that city may be dropped from the final list, and those candidates will be allotted a centre in the city of either their 2nd or 3rd preference.

UCEED 2026 Exam Pattern & Marking Scheme

The UCEED entrance exam is conducted as a computer-based test and lasts a total of 3 hours. 

UCEED 2026 Exam Pattern carries a total of 300 marks, and consists of Part A and Part B, and it is compulsory to attempt both parts.

UCEED Entrance Exam Question Paper Overview

The UCEED question paper consists of a 3-hour duration and is divided into two sections: 

  • Part-A is computer-based, while Part B is pen-and-paper-based.
  • Part A will consist of numerical-answer, multiple-choice, and multiple-select questions, whereas Part B will include sketching/drawing-type problems.

As per the official UCEED notification, UCEED Entrance Exam 2026 Syllabus has two parts.

UCEED Part A Syllabus 2026

Part A of the UCEED 2026 entrance exam will cover the following UCEED important topics. These areas form the core of the test and are crucial for scoring well

Visualization and spatial ability Pictorial and diagrammatic questions are used to test understanding of the transformation and/or manipulation of 2D shapes and 3D objects and their spatial relationships.
Knowledge of practical and everyday mechanical and scientific concepts.
Observation and design sensitivity Ability to detect concealed properties in ordinary things, people, situations, and events and think critically about them.
Attention to certain details, analysing, reasoning, classifying, inferring and predicting.
Ability to discern subtle differences in visual properties and aesthetic outcomes.
Environmental and social awareness General awareness of environmental factors such as climate, population, water, vegetation, pollution, weather, natural resources etc., and their implications on the design of products, images, infrastructure and environment.
Awareness of social and cultural connection with the design, history of the designed artefact, and socially responsible and environmentally sustainable design responses.
Analytical and logical reasoning Ability to look at qualitative or quantitative information and discern patterns within the information. Ability to weigh opinions, arguments or solutions against appropriate criteria.

Part-B of the UCEED entrance exam will have questions on the following topics:

UCEED 2026 Answer Key

UCEED entrance exam 2026 Question Paper and Draft Answer Key will be released on the UCEED website in January 2026 after a few days of the exam conclusion, based on the trends of previous years.

In UCEED 2025, any comments or objections to the draft answer key were submitted only through the candidates’ portal within a period of two days from the release of the UCEED answer key 2025. Comments/objections sent via email or in any mode other than through the candidate’s portal were not considered.

The order in which a question appears may differ for each candidate. Hence, the candidates are advised to use the Master Question Paper uploaded on the UCEED 2026 official website as a reference to upload their comments/queries.

This would help the committee to map the candidates’ comments/queries to the right question.

The UCI Committee will make the final decision on the contested answer keys after reviewing and considering all feedback from candidates and the exam-setting team. This decision will be final and obligatory for all candidates.

UCEED 2026 Result & Merit List

UCEED results will be available on the official website (www.uceed.iitb.ac.in) once the conducting body releases the result for 2026.

Candidates can use their user login and password (created during registration) to view the results on the webpage.

Here are some important things to remember for your UCEED entrance exam results:

  • All candidates who appeared in UCEED 2026 can download their Score Card from the official UCEED 2026 website.
  • All shortlisted candidates will get a common merit rank (All India Rank). 
  • Obtaining a rank in UCEED 2026 does NOT guarantee admission to the B.Des program at participating IITs.
  • Hard copies of the UCEED Score Card will not be available. and won't be sent to qualified candidates by post or email.

UCEED 2026 Entrance Exam Rank List

All shortlisted candidates will get a rank and all of them are considered as qualified candidates in UCEED 2026. Rank list will be prepared based on the total marks (Part-A marks and Part-B marks combined) in UCEED 2026. Remember, scores and rank related UCEED eligibility for top IITs like IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi is usually quite high. A rank up to a maximum of 15 or 20 is generally considered competitive for general or open category candidates.

As per the record of UCEED 2024 and 2025, the cut-off for this category has consistently been 14 (AIR) for IIT Bombay.

UCEED 2026 Entrance Exam Tie-Breaking Policy

If the total marks scored by two or more candidates are the same in the UCEED 2026 entrance exam, then the following tie-break policy will be used for awarding ranks:

  • A higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Part B.
  • If the criterion given in first point does not break the tie, a higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Section 2 of Part A.
  • If the criteria (i) and (ii) do not break the tie, higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Section 1 of Part-A.
  • If there is a tie, even after this, the candidates will be assigned the same rank.

UCEED 2026 Cut-Off

UCEED Cut-off marks are the minimum marks to be scored to be eligible for admission to UCEED courses or B.Des programs at participating institutes.

Based on this, the rank list will be prepared based on the total marks (Part-A and Part-B combined) in UCEED 2026.

  • However, the UCEED Committee reserves the right to decrease the minimum % of marks in each section and the minimum total marks such that 10×N ranks can be announced, where N is the total number of available seats.
  • The cut-offs (A) for Part-A marks to shortlist candidates in the OPEN category will be B + (C/2) =A, where B is the average marks and C is the standard deviation of distribution of marks obtained by all the candidates in Part-A of UCEED 2025.
  • The candidates belonging to the reserved categories shall have to fulfil a relaxed cut-off mark, which will be 0.9A for OBC-NCL/EWS, 0.5A for SC/ST/PwD, where A is the cut-off mark for OPEN category.

UCEED 2026 Admission Process

Only UCEED 2026-qualified students can apply for admission to the B.Des program at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Roorkee, and IIITDM Jabalpur for the academic year 2026-27.

A common application form will be available through the IIT Bombay Admissions Portal for UCEED admissions 2026 for all the participating IITs and IIIT.

IIT Bombay will process the standard application form and conduct the joint seat allocation process.

UCEED 2026 Seat Allotment Rounds

UCEED entrance exam seat allocation will be conducted in five rounds. The seat allocation will be closed once the seats are filled.

A seat will be provisionally allotted based on the applicant’s All India Rank (AIR) in UCEED 2026, category and choice of institutes.

Selected candidates will receive provisional allotment letters via their registered email and be directed to an online payment system to remit the Seat Acceptance Fee.

Important Points for UCEED Seat Allotment 2026

  • If the selected candidates DO NOT remit the seat acceptance fee before the deadline or DECLINE the admission, their application will stand cancelled.
  • If applicants are allotted their FIRST choice of institute, they can either ACCEPT (‘freeze’) the offer or DECLINE it.
  • If the candidates choose the ‘freeze’ option, it means they have accepted the offer and do not wish to participate in further rounds of seat allocation. Such candidates will NOT be considered in subsequent round(s) of seat allocation.
  • If they choose to DECLINE the offer, they will not be considered for subsequent rounds, and their current seat allocation shall be cancelled. 
  • If applicants are allotted their SECOND/THIRD/FOURTH/FIFTH choice of institute. In that case, they can opt to either ACCEPT (‘freeze’) the choice or ACCEPT with the option to be considered for upward movement (‘float’) choice for subsequent rounds (if any) of the joint seat allocation.
