UCEED (Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design) 2021 examination will have two parts: Part A and Part B. Both the parts of the exam are mandatory.

Part A will contain three sections-NAT (Numerical Answer Type), MSQ (Multiple Select Questions) and MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions). Part B contains a drawing question.

Admissions to the Bachelor of Design (B.Des) programmes at IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad and IIITDM Jabalpur are done through the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED).

  • The overall time duration of the examination is 3 hours. Both the parts have to be finished within this time.
  • IIT Bombay under the guidance of UCEED-CEED Implementation Committee conducts this exam every year to offer admission to eligible candidates in Bachelor of Design (BDes) programmes offered at various colleges across India.
  • UCEED 2020 exam is scheduled for January 18, 2020 from 10 am to 1 pm.
  • UCEED Application Form will be available from October 9 to November 9 2019 without late fee. With the late fee, the last date will be from 10th November 2019 to 16th November 2019.
  • Candidates eligible for appearing UCEED 2020 must be minimum 17 years in age. Check detailed UCEED Eligibility
  • The maximum number of attempt will be two times in consecutive years. 
  • Students who have passed Class XII (or equivalent) in 2019 or appearing in 2020, in any stream (Science, Commerce, or Arts & Humanities) are eligible to appear for UCEED 2020.
  • IIT Bombay will release UCEED 2020 result on March 13 2020.

UCEED 2020 Eligibility Criteria

Candidate who wishes to apply for B.Des must fulfill all the three basic eligibility criteria set by IIT Bombay which are as follows:

  1. Age Limit
  2. UCEED Qualification
  3. Qualifying Examination

UCEED Age Limit Eligibility Criteria

Candidates eligible for appearing UCEED 2020, candidates must be born on or before October 1, 1995.

If they belong to an open or OBC-NCL category, SC, ST, PWD category then they must be born on or after October 1990.

UCEED Education Qualification

The candidate should have qualified, i.e., obtained a rank in UCEED 2020.

Students who have completed Class XII (or equivalent) in 2019 or are appearing for the board exams in 2020, in any stream (Science, Commerce, or Arts & Humanities) are eligible to appear for UCEED 2020.

Applications from foreign nationals including OCI (Overseas Citizen of India)/ PIO (People of Indian Origin) cardholders are considered under the open category and they are outside the ambit of reservation of seats under the OBC-NCL, SC, ST and PwD categories. 

UCEED Application Form 2020

Candidates can apply online only for UCEED 2020. The application fee for the exam is accepted in online mode only.

UCEED 2020 Application form will be released by IIT Bombay on October 09, 2019.

If the candidates fail to fill the application form within the stipulated time, then they can still register for UCEED 2020 by paying late fee of Rs 500 till November 16, 2019. 

How to Apply Online for UCEED 2020?

  • Candidates who want to appear for UCEED 2020 first need to register through the online portal link www.uceed.iitb.ac.in
  • The candidates are required to register by submitting their mobile number, name, email address, and date of birth.
  • After registration, candidates need to fill their personal and academic details in the application form along with three exam centers of their choice in order of their preference.

Keep the following documents ready while filling the UCEED Application form:

  • Recent coloured passport-sized photograph
  • A scanned copy of the candidate's full signature on the white sheet/paper 
  • Qualifying examination certificate if appeared in 2019 or before 
  • Certificate from school/college principal, if they are appearing in  2020
  • Date of birth proof, such as passport, SSC certificate or birth certificate

UCEED Application Fee 

The application fee for female candidates from India despite category is INR 1500. It varies for male and transgender candidates on the basis of their category from INR 1500 to INR 3000.

  • Visit the online registration portal
  • Find and click the direct link to download the admit card       
  • Enter the registered login id and password
  • After submitting the details, admit card appears on the screen

UCEED 2020 Exam Centers

UCEED 2020 examination will be held in 24 cities in India. Candidates have to mention 3 exam cities from the list of UCEED Exam centers in order of preference.

The city allocation depends on the number of candidates applying from each location. The exam conducting authority may add a new city or remove an existing one depending upon the contingencies.

UCEED Exam Pattern 2020

UCEED 2020 will be a Computer Based Test. The date of UCEED Exam is January 18, 2020.

  • Duration of the exam is 3 hours and the question paper will be in English.
  • The question paper will consist of two parts: Part A and Part B which are both mandatory.
  • The total marks are 300.

UCEED Part A Exam Pattern

Part A will be a computer-based test for 240 marks and duration of 2 hours 30mins. There will be 3 sections in this part of the exam.

UCEED 2020 Exam Syllabus

UCEED 2020 exam will have 2 parts. Part A will have questions from these topics:

  • Visualization and Spatial Ability
  • Observation and Design Sensitivity
  • Environmental and Social Awareness
  • Analytical and Logical Reasoning
  • Language and Creativity
  • Design Thinking and Problem Solving

Part B will have only one question from only one topic- Drawing.

UCEED Result 2020

UCEED Result will be available on the website on March 13, 2020. Candidates need to use their user login and password (created during the registration process) for viewing the results on the webpage.

  • UCEED qualified students will be able to download their scorecards from March 13, 2020.
  • Hard copy of the UCEED score card will not be available and hence will not be sent to the qualified candidates.
  • Obtaining a rank in UCEED 2020 does not guarantee admission to the B. Des programme.

UCEED Cut off

Rank list will be prepared based on the total marks (Part-A and Part-B combined) in UCEED 2020.

  • Only candidates who score the minimum prescribed marks in both Part-A and Part-B, each Section of the question paper and minimum total marks will be included in the rank list.
  • However, the UCEED Committee reserves the right to decrease the minimum % of marks in each section as well as the minimum total marks such that 10×N ranks can be announced, where N is the total number of available seats.

UCEED Counselling 2020

Registration for UCEED 2020 counselling and seat allotment will start from June 08, 2020 and continue until June 30, 2020.

  • The application processing fee for UCEED counseling and seat allotment 2020 is Rs 2,000. 
  • Students have to enter the personal, educational and contact details in the registration form and also fill the institutes according to their choice
  • At least three rounds of UCEED seat allotment will be held by Indian Institute of Technology.
  • Candidates will be allotted seats on the basis of UCEED scores and choice of institutes as entered by them. Provisional letters will be sent to selected students on their registered email IDs.
  • Thereafter they must pay the seat acceptance fee of Rs. 60,000 (Rupees Sixty Thousand Only) for GEN/EWS/OBC-NCL and Rs. 15,000 (Rupees Fifteen Thousand Only) for SC/ST/PwD through an online payment system.


What are the new changes for UCEED Exam Pattern?

The question paper will have two parts-Part A and Part B.Part A has three sections but Part B has only one drawing questions.The overall duration of the question paper is 3 hours.
