UCEED 2023 Eligibility Criteria - Age Limit, Qualification, Minimum Marks Required

The Undergraduate Common Entrance Exam for Design, known as UCEED, is a national-level entrance exam conducted by IIT Bombay. Through this entrance exam, you can get admission into the Bachelor of Design

(B.Design) program at IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, and IITDM Jabalpur.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has set the UCEED 2023 Eligibility Criteria which candidates must meet in order to take the UCEED test.

UCEED 2023 Eligibility Criteria

If you want to take the UCEED test, you must fulfill the UCEED 2023 eligibility requirements. The eligibility standards must be met by all candidates, including foreign citizens.

Check out the UCEED 2023 eligibility criteria below.

UCEED Criterion 1 – Age limit:

  • The candidate should have been born on or after October 1, 1997, if belonging to the OPEN/EWS/OBC-NCL category, and born on or after October 1, 1992, if belonging to the SC, ST, or PwD category.

UCEED Criterion 2 – Number of attempts:

  • A candidate can attempt UCEED a maximum of two times and that too in consecutive years. Note that the UCEED score is valid for one year, and only for admissions in the same corresponding academic year.

UCEED Criterion 3 – Qualifying examination:

  • The candidate should have passed all subjects in the qualifying examination (Class XII or equivalent) in 2022 OR should be appearing for the qualifying examination for the first time in 2023 in order to be eligible for attempting UCEED 2023.
  • Students from ALL STREAMS (Science, Commerce, and Arts & Humanities) are eligible.
  • Those who appeared for the first time in their qualifying examination (Class XII) in 2021 or earlier are NOT eligible.
  • Criteria for Foreign Nationals- Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) and People of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, are regarded in the Open category and will not be given any special consideration. The criteria outlined above apply "totally" to all candidates, including international citizens. Seats reserved for foreign nationals are surplus.

Exceptions

  • Science stream: Candidates from the scientific stream who have taken Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as subjects are eligible to apply to all four schools.
  • Non-Science stream: Candidates from other fields (arts, business, and science without mathematics, physics, or chemistry) may apply. to IIT Bombay, IIT Hyderabad, and IIITDM Jabalpur

UCEED 2023 Eligibility Criteria - Age limit

  • If you fall in the Open/ EWS/ OBC-NCL category must have been born on or after October 1, 1997, according to the UCEED eligibility requirements.
  • On the other hand, SC, ST, and PWDs are given a five-year reprieve. Students born on or after October 1, 1992, who belong to the SC/ST/PwD category will be able to apply for the UCEED entrance exam.

UCEED 2023 Eligibility - Maximum Number of Attempts

  • In accordance with the UCEED eligibility criteria, students are eligible to appear for the UCEED exam two times in consecutive years.
  • One must note that the UCEED score is valid for a period of one year from the announcement date of the result.

UCEED 2023 Eligibility - Qualifying Examination

  • To be eligible to take the exam, the applicant must have passed all subjects in the qualifying examination (Class XII or equivalent) in 2021, OR be taking the qualifying examination for the first time in 2023.
  • ALL STREAMS (Science, Commerce, and Arts and Humanities) are eligible.
  • Those who took their qualifying test (Class XII) for the first time in 2020 or before are not eligible.

UCEED 2023 List of Qualifying Exams 

Candidates enrolled for the UCEED Exam must qualify. It differs for Indian and Foreign nationals, a list for each has been listed below. 

For Indian Nationals

The UCEED List of qualifying exams to fit the UCEED Eligibility criteria for Indian nationals has been listed below. 

  • The final examination of the 10+2 system is organized or recognized by the Central or State Board or by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU)
  • The Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy
  • Senior Secondary School Examination organized by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of 5 subjects
  • Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination organized by a recognized Board or University by the Association of Indian Universities(AIU)
  • H.S.C. vocational examination
  • A Diploma recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) or a State Board of Technical Education of at least 3 years duration

For Foreign Nationals

The UCEED List of qualifying tests for foreign nationals who meet the UCEED 2023 Eligibility criteria is mentioned below.

  • Any public school, board, or university examination in India or a foreign country is recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU)
  • General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London, Cambridge, or Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A)
  • Level High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Diploma
