UCEED vs. NID Exam Pattern:

You must acknowledge the exam paper pattern in order to prepare for it. Both the UCEED and NID entrance exams will have two stages; let us go over them in detail.

UCEED Exam Pattern:

According to the IIT Bombay announcement, the exam pattern for UCEED has been modified in 2021. The new UCEED exam pattern is as follows:

The exam paper will last 3 hours and will be divided into two parts, Part A and Part B, with a total of 300 marks.

Part A:

This exam will be a 240-marks computer-based online test lasting 2 hours and 30 minutes. There will be three sections in this section of the exam.

  • Section 1 includes Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions in which the answer must be entered using an onscreen keyboard on the computer monitor and no options are displayed.
  • Section 2 comes in the form of Multiple Select Questions (MSQ) with one or more correct answers chosen from the four options provided.
  • Section 3 is composed of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQ) with four options, only one of which is correct.

Part B:

It will be a 60-mark drawing test that must be completed in 30 minutes.

  • Each student will be asked one drawing-related question.
  • This same question is going to appear on the computer monitor and students will be asked to sketch or answer it on the paper proffered.

NID Exam Pattern:

The NID Exam is divided into two stages.

  • The very first stage is the prelim exam, which consists of two papers, Paper 1 with 70-point objective questions and Paper 2 with 30-marks subjective questions. There will be no negative markings.
  • The second stage is the primary examination for aspirants who passed the first stage. This section will be worth 100 marks and will consist of a few practical tests such as drawing/sketching, group sessions, handmade models, and also some presentations.

Conclusion

When it comes to Design programmes, both of these exams are regarded as the best. Every year, we see a large number of aspirants take these entrance exams, which are administered by the respective institutes. For example, at NID, approximately 5,000 students take the examination for a total of 100 B. Des seats, whereas UCEED has only 75 seats.

NID has around 8 design programmes that fall under the categories of Industrial Design, Communication Design & Textile, and Apparel & Lifestyle Accessory Design at its various campuses, which are known for providing good placements to its students. UCEED, on the other hand, will have several options such as research, design, textile design, and so on.

So, when taking these exams, students must decide to consider all factors such as the number of available seats, fee structure, quality of education, placement, and so on.
