July 26, 2026
Overview: The IIM Bangalore BBA (DBE) 2026 entrance test was held on 26 July 2026, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM. This analysis covers the paper's structure, section-wise difficulty, topic-wise breakdown and what counted as a competitive attempt, compiled from student feedback collected immediately after the slot.
The IIM Bangalore BBA (DBE) 2026 entrance test is done, and if you appeared today, you already know the paper did not try to surprise anyone. The structure held exactly to last year's blueprint.
Sixty questions. Ninety minutes. No negative marking. An on-screen calculator, and no sectional time limits.
Which means this was less a test of what you knew and more a test of how you spent your ninety minutes.
Below is a section-by-section breakdown of what appeared, what was worth attempting, and where students reported losing time.
If you are preparing for 2027, read the final two sections twice. The topic pattern in a live paper is the most reliable syllabus signal you will get, and it is more useful than any predicted question list.
The IIM Bangalore BBA DBE exam 2026 carried 60 questions to be attempted in 90 minutes.
There was no restructuring, no new section and no change in marking from the previous cycle, so the IIM Bangalore BBA DBE exam pattern you prepared with was the pattern you sat for.

Key features of the 2026 paper
Marking scheme: +1 for a correct answer, 0 for an incorrect one. No negative marking.
On-screen calculator provided. A meaningful advantage in the DI set and in interest, average and mixture questions.
No sectional time limits. You controlled the entire 90-minute allocation yourself.
Pattern unchanged from the previous year across all four sections.
Mode and window: computer-based test at designated centres, 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM.
The absence of negative marking is the single most consequential fact on this page, and it deserves more attention than it usually gets.
It means every unattempted question was a guaranteed zero while a blind guess carried a positive expected value.
Students who ran out of time and left ten questions untouched did not run out of marks. They gave them away.

Read that table as a time-allocation instruction rather than as a difficulty report.
Logical Reasoning offered the highest marks per minute in 2026 and Quantitative Ability the lowest.
Students who opened the paper with QA out of habit reported reaching the LR section with eight minutes left, which is the most avoidable loss available in a paper with no negative marking.
The section rated Easy is the section you should never be rushing.
Quantitative Ability for BBA entrance exams was where the 2026 paper did its filtering. Arithmetic carried most of the weight, and the variety was wide rather than deep.
Many topics appeared with one or two questions each, which rewarded coverage over specialisation.
Data Interpretation
A single 4-question DI set, built on export and import of cars alongside car manufacturing data
Difficulty split within the set: 3 easy, 1 moderate
The on-screen calculator made this set highly attemptable. Students who used it here instead of doing the arithmetic manually reported saving several minutes for the harder QA questions later
Arithmetic: the dominant block

Ratio and proportion appearing twice is consistent with what this exam has done historically, and it remains one of the highest-frequency arithmetic topics across undergraduate management entrances.
Practising ratio and proportion questions at IPMAT-level difficulty is more than sufficient preparation for the standard IIMB DBE asks here.

Two observations worth acting on. First, geometry and mensuration together formed a set of roughly five questions in one student's slot, which makes it too large a block to leave underprepared.
A structured run through geometry practice questions covers most of what appeared.
Second, linear and quadratic equations contributed two questions, and these are among the most mechanically learnable marks in the section.
Working through a set of quadratic equation questions is a genuinely high-return revision session.
Please note: The topic counts above are aggregated from student recall across different slots and therefore total more than 20. Question distribution varied between slots. Treat these tables as a weightage signal, not as an exact reconstruction of a single question paper.
Do not skip chapters. Twenty questions were spread across roughly a dozen topics. No single topic was large enough to build a strategy around, and none was small enough to safely ignore.
Arithmetic is the priority block. Roughly half the section came from arithmetic and DI combined.
Practise with a calculator available. If your mock tests do not include an on-screen calculator, you are practising a slightly different exam.
Modular arithmetic and functions appeared with one question each. These are the topics students most often drop from their preparation strategy, and in a no-negative-marking paper, one question is one mark you can still guess intelligently at if you have seen the topic once.
Students found VARC the friendliest of the four sections. Nothing here demanded specialised reading.
It demanded accuracy under mild time pressure, which is a different and more forgiving thing.
Reading Comprehension
One passage, followed by 4 to 5 questions
Passage topic: ligament injury, an analytical and non-literary piece
Questions tested inference, tone and vocabulary in context rather than direct fact retrieval
Vocabulary and Idioms

What this means for your preparation
Vocabulary carries close to a third of this section. That is a habit block, not a reasoning block, and it cannot be recovered in a final month. Daily word work beats intensive revision here.
Three questions came from articles alone. Three marks resting on one narrow grammar rule is an unusually high return for a single revision sitting. Work through targeted English questions for BBA entrance exams rather than reading grammar theory.
The RC passage was analytical, not literary. Reading non-fiction, particularly science and business writing, prepares you better than fiction for the inference-and-tone questions this exam favours. The right BBA entrance books will build the vocabulary base, but the reading habit is what handles the passage.
Take RC while you are fresh. Inference questions punish a tired reader more than any other question type in the paper.
Students rated Logical Reasoning the easiest section of the 2026 paper. Classic puzzle types dominated, with nothing outside the scope of standard LR preparation and no surprises in question construction.

What this means for your preparation
This was the best marks-per-minute section in the paper, and it was also the section students most often ran out of time for. If LR is rated Easy and you did not finish it, the problem was your attempt order, not your preparation.
Ranking and seating arrangement contributed four questions between them. Both are pattern-recognition topics where speed comes from having seen the arrangement type before, so volume practice pays off directly.
The math-based AP puzzle and cube-based reasoning question sit at the QA-LR overlap. Progressions appeared in both sections in 2026, which makes AP and GP one of the highest-value topics on the entire IIM Bangalore BBA DBE syllabus.
The GK section leaned firmly toward business GK, corporate developments and government schemes rather than general news. This is the most useful finding on this page for 2027 aspirants, because it narrows a section that otherwise feels bottomless.
Business GK and corporate ownership
Questions on the Adani Group's acquisition of ACC and Ambuja Cements, asked in a "which company owns X?" format
Mergers and acquisitions awareness was tested directly. Group structures mattered, not just company names
Government schemes and infrastructure policy
PM Gati Shakti, the National Master Plan for multi-modal connectivity, tested on its objectives and its integration with logistics planning
Multiple Pradhan Mantri schemes appeared, with flagship welfare, housing and agricultural schemes as the recurring themes
Technology and governance
Questions on AI integration across Indian domestic sectors, and on India's AI policy and tech-enabled governance
What this means for your preparation
Notice what these questions are not. The Adani transaction and PM Gati Shakti are both several years old. This exam tests standing business and policy knowledge, meaning who owns what and which scheme does what, far more than it tests the last quarter's headlines.
Reading a newspaper daily is necessary but not sufficient, and treating weekly current affairs as your only GK preparation will leave gaps exactly where this paper probes. Two additions close them:
A running list of major Indian corporate groups and their acquisitions. One page, updated monthly. This single sheet would have covered the Adani questions outright.
A running list of flagship central government schemes with their one-line objectives. Schemes do not expire from the syllabus the way news does, which makes this the highest-retention GK asset you can build.
With no negative marking, attempts and score become nearly the same conversation. Here is the benchmark from the 2026 paper.

Two things follow, and both are worth being direct about.
Ninety per cent accuracy on 42 attempts beats seventy-five per cent accuracy on 55 attempts.
In a paper with no penalty for wrong answers, that sounds backwards, but the accuracy figure is really a proxy for whether you were solving questions or gambling on them.
Rushed volume produces neither reliable marks nor a score you can learn anything from.
There was no reason to leave a single question blank. In the final two minutes, mark an option on everything untouched.
A blank is a guaranteed zero. A guess is not. This is the cheapest mark in the paper and it is the one most often left on the table.

The structural rows are identical, which is the reassuring part. Two years of an unchanged pattern is a reasonable basis for planning your 2027 preparation.
The GK row is where the real lesson sits. The 2025 paper leaned toward static GK in art, culture and history. The 2026 paper leaned toward business and policy. Neither year predicted the other, so prepare for both. This section has not settled into a fixed pattern across cycles, and treating one year's skew as a syllabus would have cost you marks in the other.
Because the 2026 paper closely mirrored the previous year in pattern and overall difficulty, cutoffs are expected to move in a broadly similar range. The final figures depend on three factors that no coaching institute controls:
The number of candidates who appeared
Normalisation across slots
The overall score distribution the paper produced
For historical reference, the previous cycle's reported qualifying pattern required roughly 20 per cent correct answers in General Awareness and 50 per cent or above in VARC, Quantitative Ability and Logical Reasoning.
Treat that as context for the earlier year and not as a confirmed 2026 benchmark.
Verified year-wise figures are tracked on the IIM Bangalore BBA DBE cut off page as they are released.
Result timeline. IIM Bangalore has indicated that results for the 2026 cycle are expected in the first to second week of August 2026. Confirm the exact date on the official IIMB DBE admissions page.
If you have cleared the test, the next stage matters more than this analysis does.
Candidates moving forward should begin working on the IIM Bangalore UG interview preparation stage now rather than waiting for the result.
There is a short window between announcement and interview, and it is not enough time to build interview readiness from scratch.
If you are targeting the 2027 cycle, the 2026 paper hands you five instructions. They are worth more than any predicted question paper you will be offered over the next twelve months.
Cover every chapter in Quantitative Ability. The 2026 QA section spread 20 questions across roughly a dozen topics, one or two questions each. There was no topic large enough to justify skipping and none small enough to ignore. Breadth wins in this format, and a good quantitative aptitude book list will get you complete coverage rather than deep coverage of a few favourites.
Build vocabulary as a daily habit. Synonyms, idioms, similar meanings and odd-one-out accounted for an estimated 6 to 8 of the 20 VARC questions. That volume is not recoverable in a final month of preparation, and it is the clearest example on this paper of preparation that compounds.
Protect your time for Logical Reasoning. LR was rated Easy in 2026. Students who lost marks there lost them to the clock, not to difficulty. Attempt order is a skill you practise, not a decision you make on exam day.
Prepare GK as business and policy knowledge, not as news. Maintain the two running lists described in the GK section above. This narrows the section from unbounded to manageable, and it survives across cycles in a way that headline-tracking does not.
Practise with the calculator on. An on-screen calculator was available in 2026. Learn where it saves time and where reaching for it costs more than mental arithmetic would. That judgement only develops through mock tests.
Consistent mock testing is what converts these observations into a score.
The IIM Bangalore BBA online test series replicates the current pattern, but the number of mocks you complete matters far less than what you do afterwards.
Track which sections you finish, where accuracy drops, and which topics you quietly avoid. The last of those three is usually where your marks are hiding.
If you are still deciding whether to apply, the IIM Bangalore BBA DBE eligibility criteria and programme fees pages cover the requirements and cost structure, and the placements page covers outcomes.
Students building a wider undergraduate management shortlist alongside IIMB DBE typically also prepare for NPAT, Symbiosis SET, Christ University and MAH BBA CET.
Each has its own pattern and eligibility, so plan them individually rather than as one preparation block.
Key Takeaways
The IIM Bangalore BBA (DBE) 2026 entrance test was held on 26 July 2026 and was rated moderate overall, with 60 questions in 90 minutes across QA and DI, VARC, LR and GK.
The pattern was unchanged from the previous year: +1/0 marking with no negative marking, an on-screen calculator, and no sectional time limits.
Quantitative Ability was the toughest section at Moderate to Difficult, driven by arithmetic. Logical Reasoning was the easiest and offered the best marks-per-minute return.
VARC was manageable, with vocabulary and idioms accounting for an estimated 6 to 8 of 20 questions and three questions resting on articles alone.
GK leaned toward business GK, corporate ownership and flagship government schemes rather than recent news, a clear shift from the 2025 paper's art, culture and history skew.
A competitive attempt was around 42 or more questions out of 60 at 90 per cent or higher accuracy. With no negative marking, no question should have been left blank.
2027 aspirants should cover every QA chapter, build vocabulary daily, protect time for LR, prepare GK as standing business and policy knowledge, and practise with an on-screen calculator available.
