How Exactly Did IIM Bangalore Calculate the BBA Cut Off Last Time?

This is the part almost every summary of this exam gets wrong. For the 2024 cycle, IIM Bangalore's own admission document sets out a two-stage IIM Bangalore BBA cut off:

Stage 1, the General Awareness gate

Candidates scoring 20% or more in General Awareness were shortlisted for further processing. Those below it were not processed at all, however well they did elsewhere.

Stage 2, the combined score

For candidates who cleared Stage 1, IIMB computed a combined score across the other three sections only: Quantitative Aptitude and Data Interpretation, Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, and Logical and Analytical Reasoning. Within those three, no sectional cut-offs applied.

Two consequences, both practical. General Awareness was a gate, not a scoring section:

it could eliminate you, but a strong GA score did not lift your total. And the widely repeated claim that this exam has "no sectional cut-off" is wrong as stated — there were none among the three aptitude sections, and a hard requirement on the fourth.

For the 2025 cycle, IIMB's published description drops the GA gate and states only that candidates at or above the category threshold were offered admission across all three pathways, without clarifying whether GA was folded into that score.

For 2026, the selection clause again reads "category-wise/section-wise selection cut-off … decided by the Admissions Office," and the FAQ calls sectional cut-offs a matter of management discretion.

A sectional requirement remains live, and IIMB has reserved the right to set it after the paper. Prepare all four sections.

IIMB states the criteria may change at its discretion and that minimum eligibility never guarantees admission.

Practical reading for 2026 — treat 50% as the floor, not the target. A combined score in the low 60s clears any plausible upward revision.

• Only CUET's General Test counts. IIMB states domain subjects and the English language section will not be evaluated. A strong domain score contributes nothing.

• JEE Advanced is not accepted. IIMB states this explicitly. JEE Main only.

• Score years accepted for 2026 are 2024, 2025 and 2026, for both CUET (UG) and JEE Main.

• Older CUET percentiles were extrapolated. IIMB notes that percentiles for previous years were calculated by extrapolating current-year data, so a 2024 scorecard percentile is not your effective figure.

Which Factors Will Decide the IIM Bangalore BBA Cut Off 2026?

Four variables move the IIM Bangalore BBA cut off, and it is worth knowing which ones are noise.

• The nature of the benchmark. A fixed percentage, not a percentile, so a hard paper does not lower it. What changes is how many candidates clear it.

That is roughly 1.5 minutes per question. Now the honest part:

IIM Bangalore has never published a section-wise question count, a marking scheme, or a negative-marking rule for this test.

Pages stating "15 questions in VARC" or "no negative marking" as fact are inferring from memory-based reports, not citing IIMB. Treat both as unconfirmed.

What is official is the structural point above: General Awareness has functioned as a gate, not a scoring component. That should shape your first ten minutes more than any assumed mark distribution.

Two conditions are new in 2026

Comparing IIMB's 2025 and 2026 admission documents directly, the 2026 cycle added compulsory Class 10 Mathematics and added the IGCSE advanced-course clause. Neither appeared in the 2025 document.

Also confirm: NC-OBC and EWS certificates must be dated on or after 1 April 2026, and no category change is entertained after submission.

How Does IIM Bangalore Apply the BBA Cut Off During Shortlisting?

1. You appear for the IIMB DBE Entrance Test, or submit a valid CUET (UG) General Test Section III score or a JEE Main score.

2. The Admissions Office applies the category-wise IIM Bangalore BBA cut off and section-wise criteria where it decides to, to your score.

3. If you submitted more than one score, the better of your CUET/JEE score and your IIMB test score is used.

NC-OBC and EWS candidates may receive aid based on family income against a ₹8 lakh per annum threshold; IIMB notes previous-batch support ranged between roughly 15% and 20%, with final decisions resting with the institute.

On outcomes, be clear-eyed. The first cohort enrolled in September 2024, so no batch has graduated and no placement or salary data exists.

IIMB's stated position is a digital platform connecting recruiters and graduates. Any package figure quoted online is not from IIMB. Degree holders receive IIM Bangalore alumni status; Certificate and Diploma exits do not.

The exit-and-rejoin change deserves real weight. Under the 2026 rules, taking the Year 1 Certificate or Year 2 Diploma and leaving is a one-way door.
