AILET Application form

The AILET 2027 application form opens on 7 August 2026 on the NLU Delhi (nationallawuniversitydelhi.in) admission portal, and that portal is the only place you can apply. The exam is on Sunday, 13 December 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, in offline pen-and-paper mode.

Candidates planning for admission should complete the AILET exam registration 2027 process as soon as the portal opens. The AILET 2027 registration date is important because applications submitted after the deadline may not be accepted.

NLU Delhi is not part of the CLAT Consortium, and no other National Law University accepts AILET scores. So if NLU Delhi is on your list, you must fill this form separately; submitting your CLAT application does nothing for it.

This guide covers the confirmed dates, the documents to gather before you start, the five-step process, the fee structure, and the mistakes that cost applicants their candidature every year. It also explains the how to apply for AILET exam process and answers the most common questions related to the AILET application form 2027.

AILET 2027 NOTICE

NLU Delhi released the official AILET 2027 notification on 23 July 2026, confirming the exam for Sunday, 13 December 2026. The detailed Admission Notice and online application form go live on 7 August 2026. Fees, the seat matrix and detailed eligibility are confirmed with that admission notice — anything quoted before then, including on this page, is indicative and drawn from the AILET 2026 cycle.

AILET 2027 Registration Dates

The table below lists the dates confirmed in the official NLU Delhi notification, with the remaining dates marked as expected until the admission notice is published.

Event Date
AILET 2027 Notification Released 23 July 2026
Application Form Opens 7 August 2026
Last Date to Apply 10 November 2026
Application Correction Window Mid-November 2026 (Expected)
Admit Card Release Late November / Early December 2026
AILET 2027 Examination Sunday, 13 December 2026
Exam Timing 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Exam Mode Offline (Pen & Paper)

AILET 2027 registration is due to close on 10 November 2026. Last year, NLU Delhi extended it to 13 November, with fee payment open until 14 November. Extensions have happened, but they are short and never guaranteed to apply in the first fortnight; rather than relying on one.

Aspirants should not wait for the AILET registration last date because heavy traffic on the portal may delay submission. Although many students search for the AILET application form late date, NLU Delhi only announces an extension if it officially decides to do so. Therefore, always complete your AILET registration well before the deadline.

For the full schedule, see the AILET 2027 exam date for a better understanding!

Who Should Apply for AILET 2027?

The All India Law Entrance Test is conducted by National Law University Delhi for admission to its 5-year BA LLB (Hons), LLM and PhD programmes.

Here are the details that catch out hundreds of aspirants every year. NLU Delhi does not accept CLAT scores and is not a member of the CLAT Consortium. AILET is the only route in, and no other National Law University accepts an AILET score.

Every eligible candidate must complete the AILET application form through the official admission portal. If you are wondering how to apply for the AILET exam, make sure you register online, upload the required documents, and pay the prescribed fee before the closing date.

That has two practical consequences. You need both applications if NLU Delhi and the other NLUs are both on your list. And because AILET is the sole gateway to roughly 120 BA LLB seats, the applicants-per-seat ratio is steeper than CLAT's - which is why it is often described as the harder of the two to convert.

The two exams also sit a week apart by design. CLAT 2027 is on 6 December 2026 and AILET 2027 on 13 December, a gap NLU Delhi has maintained for three cycles so that common aspirants are not forced to choose.

AILET 2027 Eligibility Criteria

BA LLB (Hons) - 5-year integrated programme

Category Minimum Class 12 Marks
General 45%
OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) To be confirmed in the admission notification
SC / ST / PwD 40%
Foreign Nationals 65% (Admission based on merit; AILET not required)

On the OBC figure: published sources disagree, with some reporting 42% and others 45% in line with the General category. We have left it open rather than print a number we cannot stand behind. Confirm it in the admission notice on 7 August.

There is no upper age limit for AILET, and students appearing for their Class 12 board exams in 2027 may apply provisionally.

Before starting the AILET application form 2027, candidates should carefully verify that they satisfy the prescribed eligibility criteria. Completing the AILET registration without meeting the eligibility requirements may lead to rejection during document verification.

LLM

LLM applicants need an LLB or equivalent degree. Requirements and the marks threshold are set out in the admission notice; take a look at  AILET PG exam pattern and AILET PG syllabus for what the paper covers.

You can also get the full criteria for both programmes: AILET eligibility criteria.

Documents Required for AILET 2027 Registration

Gather these before you open the form. Applications fail far more often on a missing certificate than on anything else.

  1. An active mobile number: your User ID and password arrive here, along with every update
  2. A valid email ID: all official communication goes to this address
  3. Class 10 mark sheet: your name on the form must match this document exactly
  4. Class 12 mark sheet: or your current status if you are appearing in 2027
  5. LLB degree and mark sheets: LLM applicants only
  6. Scanned passport-size photograph: recent, front-facing, plain background, JPEG
  7. Scanned signature: JPEG
  8. Category certificate: SC, ST, OBC or PwD, issued by a competent authority
  9. BPL certificate: if claiming the fee exemption, issued by a competent authority
  10. Photograph and signature specifications are set out in the admission notice. AILET 2027 required JPEG files between 15 KB and 250 KB; confirm the 2027 figures before uploading.

Keeping all the required documents ready makes how to fill AILET application form much easier and reduces the chances of errors during AILET exam registration 2027.

Before proceeding with the payment, candidates should also check the latest AILET application form fees and AILET registration fees mentioned in the official admission notice, as these are updated every admission cycle.

How to Fill the AILET 2027 Application Form

The form is available in online mode only on the NLU Delhi admission portal. There is no offline or postal route.

If you are searching for how to fill the AILET application form, follow the step-by-step process given below. Understanding how to apply for the AILET exam in advance will help you complete the application without errors or last-minute stress.

Step 1: Register on the portal

  • Visit nationallawuniversitydelhi.in from 7 August 2026
  • Click Register
  • Enter your name, mobile number and email ID
  • Click Submit

This completes the first stage of AILET registration. Once your account is created, you can proceed with the remaining steps of the AILET application form.

Step 2: Receive your User ID and password

  • Your User ID and password are sent to your registered mobile number and email
  • Save both. You will need them for the correction window and to download your admit card

Step 3: Complete the application form

  • Log back in with your User ID and password
  • Enter personal, communication and academic details
  • Select your exam city preferences — up to three, in order
  • Declare any reservation category you are eligible to claim

On test cities: AILET 2027 is expected across 37 to 39 cities. If fewer than 100 candidates apply from a city, no centre is created there, and you are allotted your second or third preference — so choose all three deliberately.

While completing the AILET application form 2027, ensure that all information matches your official documents exactly. Any discrepancy may create issues during verification.

Step 4: Upload documents and preview

  • Upload your photograph, signature and any category certificates in the specified format
  • Use the Preview option to check every field against your documents
  • Save as a draft if you want to return to it

Step 5: Pay the application fee

  • Pay online by net banking, debit or credit card, or UPI
  • There is no offline payment option
  • Save the payment receipt and download the confirmation page

You should receive an acknowledgement by email once payment clears. If nothing arrives within 72 hours, contact the admission helpdesk listed in the official admission notice.

Before making the payment, verify the latest AILET application form fees and AILET registration fees mentioned in the official admission notice. Keep the payment receipt safely for future reference.

Candidates should also avoid waiting until the AILET registration 2027 last date, as payment gateway issues or server congestion may delay successful submission.

AILET 2027 Application Fee

Category Application Fee
General ₹3,000
OBC ₹3,000
Kashmiri Migrants ₹3,000
SC / ST / PwD ₹1,000
BPL (SC/ST Category) Exempted

Similarly, the AILET registration fees are payable only through online payment methods approved by NLU Delhi.

These are the AILET 2026 figures, shown as indicative. The 23 July notification confirmed only the exam date and application window — AILET 2027 fees are confirmed in the admission notice on 7 August 2026. Check there before paying.

Two further points. The fee is non-refundable once paid, including if you later withdraw. And bank transaction charges may apply on top, displayed at the payment gateway.

Mistakes to Avoid While Filling the AILET Application Form 2027

Name mismatches

Enter your name in CAPITAL letters, exactly as it appears on your Class 10 certificate. Where a name carries initials, leave one space after each letter. A discrepancy between your form and your certificates is the most common ground for rejection.

Applying on the last day

The portal slows under load in the final 48 hours, and a failed payment at that point can cost you the cycle. Extensions have happened but are short and never promised.

Thousands of candidates wait until the AILET registration last date, hoping for an extension. Similarly, many also search for the AILET application form late date, but candidates should rely only on official announcements instead of assumptions.

Choosing test cities carelessly

You get three preferences, and no centre is created where fewer than 100 candidates apply. Treat all three as real choices rather than filling the first and guessing the rest.

Claiming a category you cannot document

You cannot change your category, programme or BPL status after final submission. Confirm you hold a valid certificate from a competent authority before you select anything.

Losing your login credentials

Your User ID and password are needed for the correction window and your admit card. Recovery is possible but it is a needless scramble in November.

Submitting more than one form

If multiple applications are submitted on the same phone number and email, only the last is considered — and the fee on the earlier ones is not refunded.

Important Instructions While Filling the AILET Application Form 2027

  • Online submission only. There is no offline or postal application route for AILET 2027.
  • Before starting the AILET exam registration 2027, carefully read all instructions regarding eligibility, document specifications, and payment guidelines to avoid mistakes.
  • Write your mailing address in CAPITAL letters, including state, district, city and PIN code.
  • Select your nationality accurately - Indian or Foreign. Foreign Nationals are admitted on merit and do not sit AILET.
  • Enter your qualifying examination percentage or grade exactly as it appears on your mark sheet.
  • Upload a photograph and signature in JPEG only, within the size range given in the admission notice.
  • Incomplete applications can be rejected by NLU Delhi, and appeals are not entertained.
  • Use the Preview option before final submission. You are solely responsible for errors in the form.
  • The fee is non-refundable once paid.

Candidates are advised not to wait until the AILET registration 2027 last date for submission, as technical issues cannot be considered valid grounds for late applications. If NLU Delhi announces any AILET application form late date extension, it will be published only on the official website.

Take a free AILET mock test to see where you stand before December, and read the AILET preparation tips to build your plan.

How to Edit the AILET 2027 Application Form

You can edit your form before final submission at any point, and NLU Delhi typically opens a correction window after the deadline for limited changes.

In AILET 2026 that window allowed edits to personal details, photograph, signature and test city preferences. Programme, category and BPL status could not be changed.

To edit before submission:

  1. Visit the official NLU Delhi portal
  2. Log in with your User ID and password
  3. Select Go to Edit Application Form
  4. Make your changes
  5. Click Submit

Correction window dates for 2027 will be announced by NLU Delhi. Check the AILET 2027 page for updates.

How to Withdraw the AILET 2027 Application Form

If you decide not to sit the exam, you can withdraw your application through the portal. The fee is not refunded.

  1. Visit the official NLU Delhi portal
  2. Log in with your User ID and password
  3. Select the Withdraw Form option
  4. Enter the required details - programme, category, name, mobile number, application number and bank details
  5. Click Submit

Worth pausing before you do. Withdrawing closes the option entirely, and an underprepared attempt still gives you a real paper under real conditions, which is genuinely useful information if you intend to apply again next cycle.
