The National Law University, Delhi (NLU) conducts the AILET Exam annually to offer admission into UG and PG level law courses like B.A., LL.B. (Hons.), LL.M., and Ph. D.

What is the AILET Eligibility 2021?

The criteria for eligibility are categorized under three parameters: Age limit, Educational qualification, Qualifying marks. If you fail to meet any of the below-mentioned criteria, you may not be able to proceed with the application process.

AILET Age Limit 2021

To apply for UG or PG program in NLU Delhi, you need to fulfil the below age requirements.

LLM The minimum age is 22 years to apply for AILET. 
P.hD No age limit is provided for PhD

AILET Qualifying Marks 2021

You must secure the prescribed score in order to apply for AILET Exam 2021. Here are the AILET Eligibility Criteria regarding qualifying marks.

AILET 2021 Eligibility Criteria for Foreign Nationals

If you are studying in foreign countries, you need to make sure to follow the below criteria:

B.A LLB Foreign Nationals are required to secure 65% qualifying marks in order to get admission.
LLM There is no requirement for Foreign Nationals to appear in this AILET for the LLM program. They will be provided admission based on the marks scored in LLB or any equivalent exam.
NLU will also assess the communication skills of a candidate in written and spoken English and performance in the interview based on capacity and aptitude.

AILET Reservation 2021

Alongside the AILET eligibility criteria, the National Law University also declares the reservation policies for different categories. AILET reservation criteria for different courses are produced in detail below.

AILET 2021 Reservation Criteria for B.A. LLB

There are a total of 80 seats available for the B.A. LLB program in the NLU. Out of 80 seats, 10% of seats are reserved for the Foreign Nationals for direct admission into the five-year degree course. In the remaining 75 seats, 15% are reserved for SC categories and 7.5% is reserved for ST categories, and 3% is reserved for persons with disabilities.

  • The unfulfilled seats reserved for SC categories shall be assigned to the ST categories and vice-versa. However, if the seats are still vacant, they will be filled by the General category candidates. 
  • Besides 30% of total seats should be filled by eligible horizontal reservations for women candidates including categories from both foreign national and reserved quota. The selected candidates will be given preference in order of merit in each category.

AILET 2021 Reservation Criteria for LLM

  • The total number of seats in the AILET LLM course is 20 seats, 15% reserved for SC categories, 7.5% reserved for the ST categories and 2.5% reserved for persons with disability categories.
  • 5 seats are allotted to the foreign national candidates having the citizenship of any country other than India. Besides, the seats that are left empty in the foreign national category are filled with general category candidates in the rank of merit.

FAQ's

What is the academic criteria for AILET 2021 exam?

The candidates must have passed 10+2 or any equivalent examination from a recognized university and they must have secured minimum 50% of marks in the qualifying exam in order to be be eligible for the AILET 2021 exam.

How many time can i appear for AILET Exam?

There is no limitation to appear for the AILET exam. However, candidates must satisfy the eligibility criteria set by the exam conducting body to appear for the AILET 2021.

When will the AILET Eligibility Criteria 2021 be released?

NLU, Delhi will release the AILET Eligibility Criteria along with the official notification.

Is the CLAT and AILET Exam Eligibility Criteria same for general category?

No. The eligibility criteria will differ for AILET and CLAT exam. Candidates belonging to general category must have secured 45% marks for CLAT exam and 50% for marks AILET in the LLB exam.

Can I apply for AILET Exam if I do not meet the eligibility?

No. Candidates are not eligible to apply for the AILET exam if they do not satisfy the eligibility criteria set by the National Law University, Delhi.
