The National Law University, Delhi conducts the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) annually for providing admissions to B.A.LL.B.(Hons. ), LLM, and Ph.D. programs.

Before proceeding with the application form for AILET 2022, you must satisfy the eligibility criteria set by the exam conducting body.

The National Law University, Delhi defines the AILET 2022 eligibility criteria under three parameters, such as

  • Age limit
  • Educational qualification
  • Qualifying marks

AILET BA LLB Age Limit 2022

According to the AILET eligibility criteria, there is no upper age limit for the undergraduate programs.

However, your minimum age should be 18 years to apply for the BA LLB program at the National Law University, Delhi.

AILET BA LLB Educational Qualification 2022

To apply for the AILET Entrance Exam 2022, You must have passed the Higher Secondary School Examination (10+2) system or an equivalent examination thereto securing in the aggregate not less than 50% of the total marks. 

  • Those belonging to SC/ST/PwD must have secured a minimum of 40% marks in the qualifying examination.
  • If you appear for class 12 or an equivalent exam in 2022, you can also apply for the exam. However, you will become eligible for admission to the BA LLB program only if you pass the qualifying examination with minimum qualifying marks.
  • The Eligibility condition for admission of students under the Foreign Nationals category shall be 65% marks in the Higher Secondary School Examination of (10+2) system or an equivalent examination.

Note:

Foreign National students are exempted from taking the admission test.

AILET BA LLB Qualifying Marks 2022

As per the AILET 2022 eligibility criteria, you must have secured at least  50% marks in class 12 or equivalent exams if you belong to the general category.

If you belong to the SC/ST/PwD category, you must have scored a minimum of 40% marks in the qualifying examination.

AILET BA LLB Reservation Criteria 2022 

There are 80 seats available for the BA LLB program at the National Law University, Delhi. Out of 80 seats, 10% are reserved for Foreign Nationals for direct admission into the five-year degree course.

Out of the remaining 75 seats, 15% are reserved for the SC category, 7.5% for the ST category, and 3% for persons with disabilities.

  • The unfulfilled seats reserved for the SC category shall be assigned to the ST category and vice-versa. However, if the seats are still vacant, they will be filled by the general category.
  • Besides, 30% of total seats should be filled by eligible horizontal reservations for women, including categories from both foreign national and reserved quotas.
  • The selected students will be given preference in order of merit in each category. 
  • Additionally, one extra seat is reserved for Kashmiri migrant, who is required to sit in the entrance examination and fulfill the AILET eligibility criteria to procure admission.

AILET LLM Age Limit 2022

According to the AILET LLM Eligibility Criteria, there is no upper age limit to apply for the LLM program, which means those belonging to any age group can apply for the LLM program.

However, your minimum age should be more than 22 years to apply for the PG program.

AILET LLM Educational Qualification 2022

To be eligible to appear for admission to the LLM program, you should have passed LLB or an equivalent degree from a recognized university.

If you are appearing for the qualifying examination in 2022 or waiting for results can apply for the entrance test.

 However, to become eligible for admission, you must have completed your graduation with minimum qualifying marks at the time of AILET Counselling.

Note:  Those placed in the compartment in the year of admission are not eligible for the LLM program even if they clear AILET 2022.

AILET LLM Qualifying Marks 2022

If you belong to the general category, you must have scored a minimum of 55% marks in LLB or equivalent degree program.

Those belonging to the SC/ST/ PwD category must have secured a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination.

AILET LLM Reservation Criteria 2022 

  • The total number of seats in the AILET LLM course is 20 seats, out of which 15% are reserved for the SC category, 7.5% are reserved for the ST category, and 2.5% are reserved for persons with disability categories.
  • Five seats are allotted to foreign national students having citizenship from any country other than India.
  • Besides, the seats left empty in the foreign national category are filled with the general category students based on merit.

AILET Eligibility Criteria 2022 for Foreign Nationals

Suppose you are studying in foreign countries and willing to apply for the All India Law Entrance Test. In that case, you need to make sure to meet the AILET Exam Eligibility criteria given in the table below:

B.A LLB You must have obtained a score of 65% marks in a higher secondary school examination or an equivalent examination.
LLM There is no requirement to appear in the AILET exam for the LLM program, and NLU will provide you admission based on the marks scored in LLB or any equivalent exam.
NLU will also assess your written and spoken English communication skills and performance in the interview based on capacity and aptitude.

AILET Eligibility Criteria 2022 for Ph.D. Courses

As per the notification, eight seats are offered for Indian Nationals through the AILET exam for the Ph.D. program, while two seats are for foreign nationals.

You must satisfy the criteria given below to get admission to Ph. D courses.

  • You must have completed a Master's degree in law or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree in law by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% aggregate marks or equivalent grade 'B' on the UGC 7-point scale. (Or)
  • You must obtain a law degree and Master’s Degree in social sciences or humanities from any recognized Indian university or a foreign educational institution accredited by UGC Regulations, with at least 55% aggregate marks or equivalent grade 'B' on the UGC 7-point scale. (Or)
  • Completed law degree and passed the Company Secretary examination conducted by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India and was awarded the Associate Membership of the Institute. (Or)
  • You must obtain a law degree and pass the final examination of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. (Or)
  • Judge of any State High Court in India with three years experience or Judge of Supreme Court of India.
