AAI has announced 8 law vacancies in Advertisement No. 12/2026/CHQ/DR-CBT.
These 8 posts sit within a larger AAI recruitment drive covering Manager and Junior Executive positions across Civil and Electrical Engineering, Finance, Information Technology, Operations, Commercial, Architecture, Fire Services, Corporate Communications, and Survey & Cartography.
| Post | Vacancies | Grade | Experience required |
|---|---|---|---|
| Junior Executive (Law) | 6 | E-1 (Group B) | None |
| Manager (Law) | 2 | E-3 (Group A) | 3 years post-qualification |
| Total law vacancies | 8 | -- | -- |
With only 6 Junior Executive (Law) posts open nationally, this is a high-competition, low-vacancy recruitment.
Expect a very high cut-off, and plan on the assumption that a comfortable margin above the qualifying mark will be needed rather than a bare pass.
A single-digit vacancy pool means some categories may have no reserved seat at all in this cycle.
For the category-wise split and how it compares with previous AAI cycles, see the detailed AAI Law Officer vacancy 2026 analysis.
Obviously, you're required to meet the specific eligibility conditions to apply for these posts. These eligibility conditions are:
Both posts require a professional degree in Law. Either a 3-year LL.B. taken after graduation, or a 5-year integrated law degree taken after 10+2. The degree must be from a university or institution recognised by the Government of India or by a statutory apex body.
Candidates must also be eligible to enrol as an Advocate with the Bar Council of India. Note the wording: the requirement is eligibility to enrol, which is a lower bar than holding an active practising licence.
The age limit is calculated as on 7 September 2026. The maximum age is 27 years for Junior Executive (Law) and 32 years for Manager (Law).
Several categories are eligible for age relaxation:
| Category | Relaxation | Effective max age: JE (Law) | Effective max age: Manager (Law) |
|---|---|---|---|
| General / EWS | - | 27 years | 32 years |
| OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) | +3 years | 30 years | 35 years |
| SC / ST | +5 years | 32 years | 37 years |
| PwBD (General) | +10 years | 37 years | 42 years |
| PwBD (OBC-NCL) | +13 years | 40 years | 45 years |
| PwBD (SC/ST) | +15 years | 42 years | 47 years |
Ex-servicemen and existing AAI employees who have completed probation receive relaxation as per AAI rules.
Note: To claim OBC-NCL relaxation you must produce a currently valid Non-Creamy Layer certificate in the prescribed central-government format.
Make sure you apply only if you meet the AAI law officer eligibility criteria.
Understanding the AAI exam pattern and selection process is crucial before applying to make sure it's worth your time.
The AAI Law Officer recruitment is decided by an objective-type Computer Based Test (CBT). Confirmed features of the paper are:
Make sure you prepare according to the detailed AAI law officer exam pattern 2026, considering number of questions and exam duration.
The selection process for AAI law officer recruitment in 2026 differs according to the posts.
Junior Executive (Law): 2 stages
Manager (Law): 3 stages
Note: There is no physical or medical test for Law posts.
Also remember,
Appointment in either case is subject to medical fitness and, for new appointees, a probation period under AAI regulations.
The AAI CBT for discipline-specific posts is structured in two parts: a general aptitude section and a concerned-discipline section.
For Law posts, the discipline section tests law. Therefore, preparing for AAI Law Officer with generic PSU aptitude material is a mistake, and one that costs candidates the paper's most scoreable half.
Here's what the AAI law officer syllabus 2026 includes:

Do this on the day you download it, not the night before the exam; corrections take time.
Note: If any detail on your AAI law officer admit card is wrong, contact AAI through the helpdesk channel named in the notification straight away. Do not wait until exam day to raise it. There is no correction facility at the centre.
AAI law officer result will be published on aai.aero. Shortlisting is based on CBT performance, and a merit list determines who proceeds to the next stage. AAI has not announced a result date for this year.

|---|---|---|

What happens after verification?
With applications closing on 7th September 2026 and the CBT expected after that, a focused 45-day plan is realistic for a law graduate. Here's an AAI law officer preparation strategy that you can use:
Two hours daily on Constitutional Law, Contract Law and Administrative Law. These three carry the heaviest weight in PSU law papers and are the subjects you are most likely to retain from your degree, so they give the fastest return.
Add one hour daily on Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning basics. Most law graduates have not touched these since school, and they decide marginal cases.
Move on to CPC, Arbitration, land acquisition and the AAI Act, 1994. Continue daily aptitude practice with timed sets rather than untimed problem-solving.
Start one full-length sectional test every third day so you find your weak sections while there is still time to fix them.
Three full-length mocks per week under exam conditions, each followed by a detailed error analysis. Revise your own notes rather than opening new material.
Because there is no negative marking, practise attempting all questions and pacing yourself, so no section is left unattempted at the buzzer.
20 Minutes on current affairs, weighted towards civil aviation policy, AAI developments and significant Supreme Court judgments. General Awareness is the cheapest section to score in and the easiest to neglect.
Choosing the right study material matters more than volume here, because very little published material is written specifically for AAI's law paper. Our recommended AAI Law Officer books list separates the titles that map to this syllabus from the generic PSU guides that do not cover the aviation laws.
