Best AAI Law Officer Books 2026: Section-wise List

Best AAI Law Officer Books for Part A: General Aptitude 

Do not skip this section because you are a lawyer. Part A carries close to half the paper, and it is where qualified advocates most reliably lose marks on material they last studied before law school. Reasoning and arithmetic are speed skills; the right book here is one with volume and answer keys, not one with elegant explanations.

Quantitative Aptitude 

Fast Track Objective Arithmetic by Rajesh Verma (Arihant). Best single volume for arithmetic, algebra and basic geometry at PSU recruitment level. Buy this rather than a CLAT-level maths book. 

Logical Reasoning 

A Modern Approach to Logical Reasoning by R.S. Aggarwal (S. Chand). The standard. Comprehensive verbal and non-verbal coverage with enough practice volume to build speed. 

English Language 

• Objective General English by R.S. Aggarwal (S. Chand). Primary text: grammar, vocabulary and comprehension in objective format. 
• High School English Grammar and Composition by Wren and Martin. Use only as a grammar reference if your fundamentals need repair. 
• Word Power Made Easy by Norman Lewis. For vocabulary, if you have the time. 

General Knowledge and Current Affairs 

• Indian Polity by M. Laxmikanth (McGraw Hill). Covers the polity portion and doubles as constitutional revision, the best value book on this page for that reason. 
• A current-year general knowledge compendium by Arihant's annual volume or the Manorama Yearbook. 

Current affairs, weighted toward aviation, infrastructure and civil aviation policy given the role. A monthly digest is sufficient; you do not need a separate book.

Best AAI Law Officer Books for Part B: Legal Knowledge Books 

Part B is the law section, and most candidates may think they have the best resources already. However, it's important to filter out the unnecessary ones and use the books that will help you.

Bare Acts You Need  

For an objective paper, bare acts outperform commentaries per rupee and per hour. Many AAI law questions are provision-based: section numbers, definitions, time limits, exceptions. Commentary teaches you to argue. The bare act teaches you to answer.

Airports Authority of India Act, 1994	AAI's constituting statute. Directly role-relevant and almost never covered in generic prep material.
Constitution of India	Highest weight in any PSU law paper. Use Bakshi's annotated edition rather than a plain text.
Indian Contract Act, 1872	AAI is a large contracting entity: tenders, concessions, leases.
Industrial Disputes Act, 1947	AAI is a major public employer; service and labour disputes are core work.
Aircraft Rules, 1937	Operational aviation regulation.
Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996	AAI's commercial disputes routinely go to arbitration.

Constitutional Law

For Constitutional Law, one good text plus the annotated bare act is enough for an objective paper.

Constitutional Law of India - H.M. Seervai	Universal / LexisNexis	Skip for this exam. A three-volume practitioner's treatise. Outstanding scholarship, wrong instrument for a short objective paper.

Contract Law 

• Law of Contract and Specific Relief by Avtar Singh (Eastern Book Company). The standard reference. Clear, exam-friendly, well-indexed. 
• Indian Contract Act by R.K. Bangia (Allahabad Law Agency). Shorter alternative if you want faster revision.

The Authority runs large-scale tendering, concession and leasing operations, so contract questions tend to be practical rather than theoretical. Read the bare act alongside whichever text you choose.

Labour and Industrial Law 

• Labour and Industrial Laws by S.N. Mishra (Central Law Publications). The standard concise reference, with strong statutory coverage. 
• Labour and Industrial Laws by P.K. Padhi (PHI). Clearer on the consolidated Labour Codes if you need that framing.

Bare acts to read directly: Industrial Disputes Act 1947, Employees' Compensation Act 1923, Payment of Wages Act 1936, Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act 1970.

Administrative Law 

• Administrative Law by I.P. Massey (Eastern Book Company). The standard text. Strong on natural justice, delegated legislation and judicial review, all high yield for a PSU law paper. 
• Lectures on Administrative Law by C.K. Takwani. Shorter, better for revision week. 

AAI is a statutory authority, so its own decisions are subject to administrative-law review. This head is disproportionately relevant to the actual job, and correspondingly likely to be tested. It is also the subject most often missing from generic law officer book lists.

Aviation Law 

• Start with the bare Airports Authority of India Act, 1994 and the Aircraft Rules, 1937. 
• For commentary, use a current-edition Indian aviation law reference.

Note: The Bharatiya Vayuyan Adhiniyam, 2024 replaced the Aircraft Act, 1934. Any aviation law book printed before 2024 will be out of date on the parent statute. Confirm the edition reflects the current framework before ordering.

Aviation law is the smallest section but the highest-differentiation one. Most candidates skip it entirely, so a modest investment here returns more than a fifth Constitutional Law chapter.

Books to Avoid for AAI Law Officer Preparation

As said earlier, not all resources may be the best to prepare specifically for AAI law officer exam 2026. Here's a list of books you need to avoid.

Legal Aptitude for the CLAT (A.P. Bhardwaj)	Tests principle-application reasoning for Class 12 students. There is no "legal aptitude" section in AAI's law paper.
Mathematics for the CLAT and AILET (GKP)	Pitched at school-leaver level and at CLAT's specific question style. Use a graduate-level PSU aptitude book.
Constitutional Law of India (H.M. Seervai)	Three-volume practitioner's treatise. Wrong instrument for a short objective paper.
Multiple Constitutional Law treatises	Diminishing returns. One text plus the annotated bare act suffices.
Jurisprudence texts (Mahajan, Paranjape)	Jurisprudence is not listed in AAI's stated syllabus. Skip unless the official post-specific syllabus adds it.
Any pre-2024 aviation law book	The Bharatiya Vayuyan Adhiniyam, 2024 replaced the Aircraft Act, 1934. Check the edition.

What is the Best Order to Study Using These AAI Law Officer Books?

Buying the right books is half the problem. Reading them in the wrong order is the other half. Here's the order we suggest:

• Bare Acts: Constitution (Bakshi), then Contract Act, then Industrial Disputes Act. Fastest route to the provision-based questions that dominate Part B. 
• One commentary per subject, in this order: Shukla → Avtar Singh → S.N. Mishra → Massey. Read to fill gaps the bare acts exposed, not cover to cover. 
• Part A books, in parallel from day one, not after Part B. Reasoning and arithmetic need daily timed repetition over weeks; they cannot be crammed. 
• Aviation law and the AAI Act: After your core subjects are stable. Small section, high differentiation. 
• Mocks only in the final stretch. No new books at this stage. If a book arrives in your last two weeks, it was ordered too late to help.
• The most common sequencing mistake: Finishing all of Part B before opening a Part A book. Half the marks are in Part A, and it is a skill, not a body of knowledge.

Pair these books with a well-structured study plan for AAI law officer preparation.
