The NMAT admission process has two parts: (1) NMAT by GMAC registration + exam, and (2) separate applications and selection rounds run by each college (including NMIMS).

Below is the complete 2026 step-by-step process, key dates, documents, and what happens after results - so you know exactly what to do next.

What is the NMAT Exam 2026?

Narsee Monjee Management Aptitude Test (NMAT) is a Computer-Adaptive Test conducted by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) for admissions to some of the leading graduate business programs in emerging markets, including India, South Africa, the Philippines, Nigeria, and Morocco.

Being the most candidate-friendly MBA admissions exam, it offers the convenience and flexibility to choose dates as per convenience & improve scores with three attempts in a testing cycle.

The next date can only be scheduled after the first attempted paper. Candidates may retake the exam with a 15-day gap.

Candidates can also reschedule the date and time of their NMAT exam within the 70-day test window.

It should be noted that NMIMS accepts the scores only on the first attempt at as per the NMAT 2026 Eligibility Criteria 

The NMAT by GMAC™ exam preparation registration and the school application process are separate steps. Registration for NMAT does not mean you have registered for NMIMS or any other college.

How to Apply for the NMAT Admission Process 2026?

  • The NMAT 2026 Admission Process can be described in the following manner:
  • Register for the “NMAT by GMAC” MBA entrance exam.
  • Schedule for the NMAT Exam on the NMAT by GMAC website.
  • Register for all the colleges where you wish to apply through the NMAT 2026 Admission Process.
  • Select the Colleges to which you want to send your NMAT score for the NMAT 2026 Admission process on the “NMAT by GMAC” website. The first 5 colleges are free, while additional colleges incur a fee.
  • Give the NMAT Exam.
  • Download the NMAT Results, which are available within 72 hours of taking an exam.
  • Schedule the Retake if you are unsatisfied with the results. NMIMS considers only the scores of the first attempt, while other major colleges also accept the score of the Retake.
  • You will receive a call letter from the colleges you have applied to for the NMAT admission process if you clear their respective NMAT Cutoff.
  • Appear for the NMAT Selection Process for all the colleges from which you get the call letter. The exam-conducting body, GMAC, does not have a common NMAT Admissions process.
  • Accept/Reject the offer by the college if you clear the NMAT 2026 Admission Process for any college, NMAT 2026 Marking Scheme

The NMAT selection process's second stage is now offline at NMIMS Mumbai Campus. It includes a computer-based Written Analytical Test (WAT), WATSON Test, and Personal Interview (PI).

Candidates receive the Call Letter for the process on their No Paper Forms dashboard. Candidates must submit the WAT & PI invite form and make the payment.

After payment, "Book your WAT/PI slot" will appear on your dashboard. Please choose the date and session for your WAT/PI process.

Please note: Each session has limited seats. If the first preference is not available, students should book another slot. No rescheduling requests are entertained.

On the day of the WAT/PI:

  • Briefing: Authorities brief students on the NMAT Admission Process, WAT, WATSON & PI process, and the salient features of an MBA from NMIMS University.
  • WAT, WATSON & PI Process:
    • Click the 'Student's Walkthrough-2024.pptx' link. It is a slide walkthrough of the WAT-WATSON and PI process.
    • Post WAT, WATSON & PI Process Post WAT & PI process, the MBA (Mumbai) result will be announced on the NMIMS dashboard by the end of February.
    • The whole WAT and PI process will take 4 to 4 ½ hours.

Instructions for WAT & PI:

  • Please bring a printed copy of your photo ID and NMAT Admit Card issued by GMAC, and keep it with you during the WAT-WATSON and PI process.
  • If you have work experience, please bring the originals of Form 16, the Appointment Letter and your latest salary slip.
  • If you have resigned, please bring your resignation/relieving letter.

NMAT Admission Process 2026: Selection Rounds at Participating Colleges

The  Admission Process for NMAT 2026 starts after the results are announced.

  • Neither GMAC nor NMIMS offers a unified NMAT 2026 Admission Process.
  • Institutes that accept NMAT scores handle the Admission Process differently, depending on the NMAT cut-off, which each institute sets independently based on its selection criteria.
  • The Admission Process for NMAT 2026 consists of multiple rounds: Group Discussion (GD), Case Discussion, Group Exercise (GE), and Personal Interview (PI).
  • Some colleges that accept students based on NMAT Results also require them to take a Written Ability Test of about 20 minutes to assess their writing and communication skills.
  • Those who clear the NMAT cut-off for their respective institutes advance to other rounds of the NMAT 2026 Admission Process.
  • The respective college organises the NMAT selection process based on the NMAT Results, and GMAC has no stake in it.

  • Post Graduate Degree Marksheet, wherever applicable

  • AIU Certificate (University Equivalence) is mandatory for those candidates who have graduated from Overseas Universities.
