Quick Answer

The IIM BBA DBE 2026 question paper was set for the entrance test held on 26 July 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM. It carried 60 multiple-choice questions in 90 minutes across four sections

  • Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (20)
  • Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation (20)
  • Logical & Analytical Reasoning (10)
  • General Awareness (10)

Each correct answer earned one mark, and nothing was deducted for a wrong answer. Read on to know all about IIM Bangalore 2026 question paper.

Key Highlights

  • Exam date: 26 July 2026, 2:00–3:30 PM. Result: expected first/second week of August 2026 (IIMB marks this tentative).

  • Exam Structure: 60 questions, 90 minutes. VARC (20) · Quant & DI (20) · LR (10) · GA (10). One mark per correct answer, no negative marking, no sectional time limits, all sections compulsory.

  • The paper and answer key have not been released. IIMB publishes past papers on its portal, but with a lag.

  • Selection runs in two stages. General Awareness is a qualifying screen at 20% (2 of 10).

  • Your merit score is computed from the other three sections only (50 marks, not 60), and the category cut-off applies to that.

  • General category needs roughly 25 of 50 in Verbal + Quant + LR combined, plus at least 2 of 10 in GA.

  • Logical Reasoning follows a near-fixed list of ten topics, one question each, the most predictable section in the exam.

Three structural features that shaped the attempt

No negative marking

  • One mark for a correct answer, zero deducted for a wrong one.

  • There was no scoring reason to leave a single question blank, yet candidates do, almost always because they run out of clock rather than nerve.

  • With four options, eight blanks filled at random return two marks on average, and two marks matter at a threshold.

No sectional time limit

  •  All 90 minutes were yours to allocate, and uniform allocation is not optimal.

  • Logical Reasoning is ten questions at consistently moderate difficulty; Quant carries a four-question DI block that can absorb eight minutes alone.

IIM BBA DBE 2026 Question Paper Difficulty Level

The DBE exam sits in a narrow moderate band, and the movement between cycles comes almost entirely from the Quantitative section.

Section

Difficulty

Why

Verbal Ability & RC

Easy to Moderate

Short non-technical passages, questions answerable from the text

Quantitative Ability & DI

Moderate to Difficult

Multi-step arithmetic and a four-question DI block

Logical & Analytical Reasoning

Easy to Moderate

Ten single-step topics, one question each

General Awareness

Moderate

Individually easy, drawn from a wide field

Because IIM Bangalore publishes a difficulty rating for every question in its released papers one from the authoring subject-matter expert and one from IIMB itself the exam-setter's own calibration is readable.

Three things stand out.

Common Mistakes With the IIM BBA DBE 2026 Question Paper

  1. Treating General Awareness as a scoring section. It is a qualifying gate 2 of 10 to pass through, and it does not add to merit. Chasing 8 of 10 in GA at the cost of Quant practice is a straightforwardly bad trade.

  2. But also: assuming GA doesn't matter. Those ten marks cannot lift you and can stop you entirely. Competence, not excellence.

  3. Preparing GA from current affairs alone. Roughly three-quarters of the section is static history, art and culture, economy fundamentals. A monthly capsule covers the smaller share.

  4. Skipping the business and economy block. It is the largest theme in General Awareness, the most predictable, and the most commonly ignored.

  5. Drilling error-identification for grammar. This exam asks you to select the correct form, not spot a mistake.

  6. Practising table-only Data Interpretation. The DI block is four questions and the chart format varies. Practise mixed formats.

  7. Over-preparing Logical Reasoning puzzles. Ten topics, one question each. Breadth beats depth.

  8. Carrying an IPMAT attempt strategy into this paper. IPMAT penalises wrong answers; this one does not.

  9. Leaving questions blank. Nobody decides to do so when they run out of time. Fix it procedurally: at the 85-minute mark, stop solving and start filling.

More in common mistakes to avoid during BBA entrance exam preparation.

What to Do Next After IIM BBA DBE 2026 Question Paper?

If you appeared on 26 July 2026

Days 1–3. Reconstruct your attempt against the two-stage mechanism, not against an imagined topper's score. Write down: how many GA questions you are confident about (you need 2), and your combined confident-plus-likely count across Verbal, Quant and LR (you need roughly 25 of 50 for general category).

Days 4–10. Step away from the result page. If Class 12 results or other applications need attention, this is the window.

Days 10–14. The result window opens. Follow the steps above and check dbe.iimb.ac.in directly.

If shortlisted. Move quickly on document verification and first-term fee payment. Offers carry short acceptance windows, and IIMB lists the offer-acceptance and fee-payment dates as to-be-confirmed, so watch the portal.

If not shortlisted. Two real options. First, the following cycle, applying through more than one route from the outset; understand the CUET route to IIM Bangalore BBA DBE now rather than next April.

Second, a 2027 attempt with a nine-month runway, which for an exam in this difficulty band is comfortable rather than desperate.

One thing to be clear about: you cannot switch routes after the entrance test. All routes are declared within the same application, before the deadline.

IIMB considers your best score where you submitted more than one at application time. Plan multi-route next cycle; there is no retrospective fix this one.

If you are targeting 2027

Window

Focus

Aug–Oct 2026

Quant fundamentals arithmetic and DI, including mixed chart formats. Begin daily current affairs and NCERT Social Science revision. General Awareness cannot be crammed, only accumulated.

Nov 2026–Jan 2027

Complete Quant and LR breadth. Close all ten LR topics. Begin sectional tests. Balance against Class 12 boards.

Feb–Mar 2027

Boards take priority. Maintain only current affairs and 30 minutes of reading daily.

Apr–May 2027

Full-length mocks target 10–15. Application window typically opens mid-April.

Jun–Jul 2027

Mock analysis, GA revision capsules, and any papers IIMB has published on its portal by then. Exam expected late July.

The Class 12 board overlap is the real constraint, not the syllabus. Plan for the February–March blackout instead of pretending it will not happen. Start with the IIM Bangalore BBA exam overview and the recommended BBA entrance books.
