As per the latest NMAT 2026 notification, being the most candidate-friendly MBA admissions exam, it offers the convenience and flexibility to choose exam dates and improve scores with up to 3 attempts in a single testing cycle.
NMAT by GMAC is a Computer Adaptive Test in which a candidate's ability is estimated successively based on the responses to questions tailored to the candidate's current ability estimate.
Candidates can attempt the exam three times during the 70-day test-taking window. The next date can only be scheduled after the first attempt at the paper.
The NMAT syllabus 2026 is the same as last year's, comprising 108 questions across three sections.
NMAT's testing window allows the candidate to select a preferred test date at both test centres (India only) or online from home.
You can get your unofficial scores immediately at NMAT Test centres in 79 cities in India.
All three sections in NMAT by GMACTM carry equal weight, and there is no negative marking for incorrect answers.

Your retake registration option will be enabled in your dashboard after your exam date. You must register for the retake by clicking the Retake section, selecting the exam mode and paying the retake fees.
Please note that retakes can be scheduled after a planned attempt is completed, and the retake exam can only be taken after a 15-day gap from the previous effort.
If you were a no-show, did not agree to the non-disclosure agreement by accepting the NDA, or your exam has been marked as Incomplete, you can schedule a Retake attempt immediately for any slot after 24 hours.
Scheduling a retake attempt at a Test Centre and Online follows the same process as scheduling your initial effort. This consistency in the process ensures that you know what to expect and can plan your retake attempt effectively. The NMAT exam registration and the School Application process are two separate steps.
