  • Question Structure: 100 MCQs, each carrying one mark.
  • Syllabus Coverage: Questions span a wide range of legal subjects, testing broad legal knowledge.
  • Duration: 120 minutes (2 hours), You get roughly one minute per question.
  • Tie-Breaking: Ties are resolved by senior age first, then a computerised draw of lots.

Make sure you refer to the AILET PG syllabus 2027 for preparation.

What is the Marking Scheme for AILET PG 2027?

AILET PG applies negative marking across the paper. Here's exactly how scoring works:

  • Correct answer: +1 mark
  • Wrong answer: −0.25 marks
  • Unattempted: 0 (no penalty)

So, four wrong answers cost one full mark (0.25 × 4 = 1). Because of this, accuracy matters as much as the number of attempts.

The smart approach is to attempt questions where you can confidently eliminate options and skip the ones you'd be guessing on blindly.

What is the Tie-Breaking Criteria for AILET PG 2027?

Because AILET PG is highly competitive, two or more candidates can end up with identical scores. NLU Delhi resolves such ties in a fixed, transparent order:

  • Senior age: The older candidate (by registered date of birth) is ranked higher.
  • Computerised draw of lots: If the tie persists, ranks are assigned by an automated, random draw, no manual intervention.

We don't suggest you rely on tiebreakers. Instead prepare well and try to achieve the maximum score possible. Set your targets based on previous years' AILET PG cut-off.

How to Prepare Well According to the AILET PG Exam Pattern 2027?

A clear grasp of the exam pattern turns into a scoring strategy. We have a strategy to help you prepare for AILET PG 2027 and score better.

Understand the MCQ Format

  • The paper is 100 MCQs. Get fluent with the format through daily practice.
  • Questions cover all branches of law, so prepare broadly rather than narrowly.
  • With ~1 minute per question, deliberate pacing is essential.

Cover the Syllabus

  • Study wide and deep across the AILET PG syllabus 2027.
  • Make sure to use updated study materials that reflect the latest legal precedents and amendments. See our AILET PG preparation books list for updated editions.

Practice with Purpose

  • Do daily MCQ practice to build speed, accuracy, and confidence.
  • Take full-length AILET mock tests under exam conditions.
  • Use practice tests to pinpoint and fix weak areas.

Handle Negative Marking Smartly

  • With −0.25 per wrong answer, make educated guesses, not wild ones.
  • If you can eliminate one or two options, a calculated attempt is often worth it; if you can't, skip.

Practice Time Management

  • Have a pacing plan so no single question drains your clock.
  • Time yourself during prep to steadily improve speed and accuracy.

Preparing with the exam pattern in mind and considering the unpredictable nature of this exam will help you score better.

Here are the key takeaways:

  • AILET PG 2027 is 100 MCQs in 120 minutes, 100 marks total, offline mode.
  • Marking: +1 correct, −0.25 wrong (four wrong = one mark lost), no penalty for unattempted.
  • Questions come from various branches of law with no published sectional weightage.
  • Ties break on senior age, then a computerised draw of lots.
  • Accuracy beats volume. Practise timed mocks and guess only when you can eliminate options.
  • AILET PG 2027 is expected in December 2026.
