Educational Qualifications  

The educational eligibility for the Law Officer post has two parts, and you need to clear both.  

• Degree: A bachelor's degree in law (LLB) from a university or institution recognised by the Government of India. IBPS does not accept equivalent qualifications, the degree must match exactly what's specified in the notification. 
• Bar Council Enrolment: You must be enrolled as an advocate with the Bar Council of India (or your State Bar Council) at the time of application. This is a separate requirement from simply holding the LLB degree, so don't skip it if you graduated but haven't formally enrolled yet. 
• Computer Literacy: You should have studied Computer/Information Technology as a subject at some stage (school, college, or institute) or hold a certificate/diploma/degree in computer operations.  

Can Final-Year LLB Students Apply?  

No. Not unless your final result is declared on or before July 26, 2026. If your results are still pending on that date, you won't be treated as eligible for this recruitment round, even if you've completed your coursework and are just waiting on the final mark sheet.  

Nationality 

As per the IBPS SO law officer eligibility criteria, candidates must meet specific nationality or citizenship.  

• Citizens of India: Indian citizens are eligible to apply for the IBPS SO Law Officer position  
• Subjects of Nepal or Bhutan: Citizens of Nepal or Bhutan fulfil the eligibility criteria for this position  
• Tibetan Refugees Arriving in India before January 1, 1962: Tibetan refugees who arrived in India before this date with the intention of permanent settlement can also apply
