About AFCAT

AFCAT is conducted for the short service commission of officers in the Indian air force. It recruits for Flying and Ground Duty branch (Technical and Non Technical). The Air force gives the chance to lead the good life.

AFCAT Notification 2018

IAF AFCAT or Air Force Common Admission Test notification releases bi-annually. AFCAT is Air Force Common Admission Test is conducted annually (2 times in a year) by the Indian Air force for the recruitment of officers in all branches except medical and dental branches. AFCAT is conducted twice every year – once in February and again in August/September. AFCAT recruits in three branches namely Flying Branch, the Technical Branch, and the Ground Duty Branch.

    AFCAT Application Form - How to Apply

    1. Click on the link given above.
    2. Fill in the required details in the registration form.
    3. Once the form is successfully submitted, a new Registration ID and Password will be generated and sent to the candidate’s email-id provided.
    4. Login to the AFCAT portal using your Registration ID and Password.
    5. Fill all the details as per the given instructions.
    6. Select your branch, exam centre and subject of the exam.
    7. Upload Photograph and Signature.
    8. Submit application form.
    9. Pay the application fee.
    10. Take print out of application.

    Scheme of Examination

    There are a total of 100 questions. Each Question carries 3 marks. Each wrong answer carries a penalty of 1 mark. Questions that are not attempted do not carry penalty.

    For Ground Duty Technical Branch, you have to go through an EKT round i.e. Engineering Knowledge Test. It consists of 50 questions and 150 marks that you need to complete within 45 minutes.

    Candidates who are shortlisted in AFCAT will be called for further testing at AFSB or Air Force Selection Board in any of its branches at Dehradun, Mysore, Gandhinagar or Varanasi.

    Test consists of various stages:
    • Stage-I: Test consists of Intelligence Test along with other tests conducted on the first day. Candidates who qualify in Stage I will be subjected to document verification to see if they are eligible for the branches that they have applied for. Candidates who do not qualify in Stage I of testing will have their candidature canceled beyond this point.
    • Stage-II: Stage-II consists of Psychological Test, Group Test and Interview which is conducted for a period of 5 days.
    • For Flying Branch: Pilot Aptitude Battery Test would be conducted for eligible candidates who are pursuing Flying Branch.
